One is right near my work (cliff/13). I haven’t driven by there yet but will be curious to see the damage on my way in tomorrow. We saw a lot of tree branches down around the cliff and pilot knob area when were out and about yesterday.
So thankful we didn’t have any damage as most of our yard is canopied by giant oaks and we live in a pretty heavily wooded area, only a couple miles from where the tornadoes were.
I shared this on Facebook too. I think any of us could make these same predictions.

With our climate changes, being a meteorologist is going to be a challenging job moving forward. Those weather rocks do about as good of a job these days.
California to get river of storms

California to get river of storms
I think this happened a few years ago and it hit mostly Northern Cali. The Oroville dam partially failed after water in the reservoir topped the dam.
This also looks to hit San Fran and north into Oregon. Southern California won’t get relief.
Is this the same type of system that triggered the storm which caused the massive mud slide in WA a few years go?

From the CNN story.
In case you haven’t heard there was a blizzard here 30 years ago today. ?

The only time I ever hear about it is people mocking others for bringing it up.

There was a big bilizzard in MN?! In 1991?! No way!!

Local news channels have been making a big deal out of this so…….
Some friends and I were talking about it Sat. One of them, a Brit ex-pat, was flying to here from Washington (the state) on that night. He was amazed at the amount of snow, and asked how we really dealt with it.

I’m smart enough to stay away from Facebook but your ignorant assumption tells me you’re not. I’ve had multiple people bring it up to me every day for the last week and this is an every year thing. Not sure why you’re insisting it’s not.

I’ve never had a Facebook account. I don’t hear about the blizzard except on here when people make fun of those who bring up the blizzard.
It’s a self fulfilling prophecy.
Serious the wind… all yesterday evening and through out the night and into morning. It’s crazy how the wind had just blown.
Keep your stick on the ice...
At least it doesn’t suck.
At least it doesn’t suck.

I was just going to say, Iowa must be sucking and North Dakota blowing again.
Hmmm... phrasing.
Icy glaze, shards piling up on the SE shore of ML.
Big old whitecaps mixing the water all up.
Absolutely raw outside.
To say it is a tad windy out today is a massive understatement. Holy hannah.

This wind feels like living on the flats and prairies.

Ice was out maybe a third of a mile last night.
Now it is 10 yds of bobbing shards.

I saw that article and thought that was a weird comparison. The big island has 2 13+K peaks and Denver is at 5K....of course the big island has more snow

You can start the day skiing down the mountain and the go to the beach and go surfing to end the day ?♂️

ZOMG SNOW.
Start up the news machine now on accidents and spinouts.
Have to admit, we've been really lucky so far with temps this season. I really would like a White Christmas, though.

Well it appears that there is a solid 4" of The Rube & Bing's topic this morning on the south end of Mille Lacs. ?
I guess that ends the motorcycle season. ?
And poor Armadillo is stuck up in Grand Forks for his kid's hockey tourney. Thoughts and prayers to his family for enduring that particular hell.

Happened to wife, daughter and myself once when we got stuck in the hotel parking lot. Then after the games we soon learned that 94 was closed due to drifting. When they opened it up it was a very slow drive back home. Didn't want to end up in the ditch like so many others...
I’ve done the drive through SW MN and NW Iowa on the way to see my parents in Omaha when it took 14 hours due to the roads. You’d think after the first time I’d have learned but it happened 3 different times
To make matters worse, we're currently watching our team get beat in the 3rd place game, in the Ralph's practice rink.
It just keeps getting better.
Grew up with wind almost all the time before coming to Minnesota. Though the last couple months it’s been extremely windy in the southern suburbs. Maybe living in downtown Mpls. for over 20 years I never realized it until I moved to my current house.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Have a lot of wind in the 494/55 area in general.
Right now, really windy by Ridgedale. It was really windy this morning, but died down during the day. It's picked back up hardcore.

I seriously want to see the measuring stick after some of these snow falls.

We can expect some cold weather and snow in Minnesota this time of year, but what's up with all the wind? I've got some serious downed branches in the backyard to clean up.
D2D, I mentioned the wind a couple of times in the last month or two. I don't recall the wind being this bad in the last 27 years of being in Minnesota.

If you're talking about sustained winds over a period of a week or more, I completely agree. Of course we've had periodic storms (blizzards!) periodically in the past.
I remember one in particular in the late 70's ('77?) when we rented a little cabin on Lake Marion in Lakeville. This one was really bad, way below zero wind chill with near zero visibility. Our power went out and it was getting seriously cold in our little cabin, with nothing else we could do to keep warm. So we just sat there and felt it getting colder and colder. Then all of a sudden we heard a knock on the door and it was a neighbor, who lived down a few houses and made it to our place, all bundled up on his snowmobile, making sure we were OK. His power was out too, but fortunately he had his fireplace going, which was a lifesaver for all of us...
Terribly, we learned the next day that a woman perished in the blinding blizzard very close to where we lived. Living proof on how deadly those winter blizzards can be.

Yep... that is what I meant the wind for the last month or two.

Agreed. Individual days have been much worse. But the fact that there have been relatively high winds to this degree, for this many days in a row is kind of odd.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
For some reason the area around Hwy 55/494 is always windy. Not this bad, mind you, but windy.

Lucky me. We have a tourney in LaCrosse.
The NWS forecast came out this morning and Mankato is in the 8-12" range. Oh fun.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!
