I'm loving the Type 95. 3 shot burst AR that can kill with one burst at distance if you land them all. I have the 2 attachments proficiency on there with a silencer and rapid fire and I've been doing very well with it (for me). Now I just need to unlock Scavenger (I'm almost there) so I can stop running out of ammo.
Right now I am using the CM901 for long distance and the UMP for when I want to run n' gun.
I have heard the SCAR is really good as well.
I was never a fan of the burst guns, like the M16 in MW2, but I might give the Type 95 a try in this game to see if I can succeed with it.

Yeah I used the SCAR to get up to level 32 and unlock the Type 95.
I'm an assault rifle junkie mostly due to the fact that I lose more than 50% of the close up 1v1 gun battles. I need to move slowly and cautiously up the map and hit from a distance. I've been using marksman with this class and it really really helps because you can identify enemies (red name above them) from so far away half the time I can't even really see the body I just know someone is there and can either spray and pray or squint really hard and see if I can find them!
Also now that I am unlocking all the better perks, I am finding that the "Specialist" class is really awesome. You get an additional perk of your choice at pointstreaks of 2, 4, and 6 and then if you get an 8 pointstreak you get literally every single perk in the game... it's pretty cool. I start off with hardline making it 1, 3, 5, 7 so I get my first additional perk at my first "point"... considering I like to play a lot of domination and you get the free cap at the beginning I typically start with 4 perks right off the bat. It's also really easy to build pointstreaks in kill confirmed with the kill and then picking up the tags. The other nice thing is you can decide what order you get the extra perks, so I don't get scavenger until I have a 3 pointstreak because I typically wouldn't need it before then anyways.
I think one of the hidden gems in this game is the fact that you can hear the mic of the person you just killed. You can hear some pretty funny stuff. Most of them not fit for print

I love this.
Anyone have any thoughts on NCAA Football 2012? My son wants a football game for the xbox and I thought he would really enjoy being able to play as the Gophers. As long as the gameplay is good I am leaning that way.

I have it and thoroughly enjoy it.
I prefer the NCAA games to Madden. Seems like there are more fun options; like Road To Glory where you start as a high school player and go through the HS season, build up your player, get recruited, then play at whatever college you go to. They still offer the Dynasty and Season modes, plus the online play etc.
NCAA 12 is a very good game. There are some gameplay issues, but in my experience, the good outweighs the bad.
I also like NCAA much more than Madden. When I used to play Madden I would get like 1 or 2 seasons into my dynasty and get bored with it, but in NCAA the recruiting makes the Dynasty mode addicting. Each season is a new battle for recruits, and it's very rewarding to fight ALL SEASON for a recruit and then see him become a star player on the field for you.
Another cool wrinkle added in this year's game is the ability to start as an offensive or defensive coordinator.
I was the DC at WKU for 3 years, then 3 years as the DC at Florida State (National Title in my second year there), and then got the Gopher job.
Kinda cool how you move up the ladder like that.
I have NCAA 11 and it was fantastic. I'm actually playing it right now. The recruiting is fun, but can be a lot of work if you really want to get good at it. Granted, turn everything down to easy and my mom could figure out how to get 10 five-star recruits.
Thanks for the thoughts, NCAA 12 is on the way!
Has anyone played the new Zelda game for the Wii? I'm thinking about picking it up and I'm wondering what people think of it before I do.
My roommate just texted me saying he bought Skyrim
Got a little research to do, I have no idea which race to choose for my character.

Beware if you get this game..."I'll just play for an hour" turns into 3 or 4 hours very easily
FANTASTIC game.
Getting my new PS3 tomorrow. I went with a couple Greatest HIts for my first games, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Trying to decide what sports game to get. Anyone have NHL 12?

If you like baseball, from what I've seen "MLB The Show" is ridiculous.
Especially considering from what I grew up playing...

NHL 12 is a very solid game. There are some issues with it, but in my opinion still a very good game. I can go more in depth if you like, but all in all I would recommend it!

Are the colleges in this game? I thought I heard that the new NHL game would have the college leagues much in the same way that they have the international leagues.

I have it on 360. Be a player mode can take forever to get out of Juniors (if you take that route).
I've been holding off on COD until I finished Arkham City, but I'll have it tonight. Also have battlefield 3, which is alright. It just seems sometimes that it's impossible to hit anything, the gun's accuracy seems off.
My gamertag is Fbobby1609

No :ddown: :ddown: :ddown:
I was bummed when it didn't come to fruition this year. Maybe next year. But they haven't talked about it much, so I wouldn't be surprised if they end up just not doing NCAA. Nothing set in stone yet, either way.
Breaking news...video games have gotten much more complicated. I had a Sony Playstation a long time ago. I now have a PS3. The level of intricacy has changed just a bit. Guess I'll just have to play more to get used to it
Anybody else download the new XBL update yet? I really like the new interface! The panels look really cool and are easy to use.
Haven't had time to really look around at stuff yet, but so far I am a fan :dup:

I was playing online with my brother last night, we had our headsets on and I taught him this. He and I had always muted people in the party that had mics on because they are usually really annoying. I stopped after you posted this because its so priceless sometimes!I have also made an effort to not get too worked up when I have my mic on.

Which game is this? I told this to my son who has the new COD because I thought that was it. He said he doesn't hear anything from others. Is this actually a Battlefield feature?

I've been playing Uncharted 3 on the PS3 and it has to be one of the coolest games ever. It's like my own action movie. I highly recommend it.

I am not sure since I haven't been much of a gamer in 20 years and that was generally limited to sports games. I did play a FPS on my PC a number of years ago (I was some sort of James Bond like assassin I think) and I would occasionally get a little dizzy from all the movement. Guess I was too close to the computer screen or something. ha
I'd probably like all the things you mention but simply don't know enough to judge. I do like spy stuff and sports. I could get into the fantasy or Star Wars kind of stuff too.

You can't go wrong checking out some of the "greatest hits" type of games. Many of those are highly rated (check out IGN for ratings), and people love them.
If you like old school side scrollers like the Ninja Turtles games, check out Castle Crashers. It's even better with friends.
Other recommendations:
-The new Batman games (action/RPG)
-Portal (Puzzle game)
-Elder Scrolls (extremely deep RPG)

Sounds like you have a pretty wide ranging interest in games. I'd also recommend what rowshkex said. Look for the "greatest hits" games that are good enough to gain the status of "greatest hits" but are about $30-$40 cheaper than regular games.
I'd highly recommend:
-NHL series (2012 seems to be the latest incarnation but it is a typical sports game in that it's very similar to the previous incarnation)
-NCAA Football series (2012 is the latest, I have 2011 and it's amazing)
-Red Dead Redemption (mix of RPG and RPS/3rd Person Shooter, spectacular game)
-If you like RPGs, you can NOT go wrong with Final Fantasy
-You can't really go wrong with the latest Halo if you like multiplayer FPSes.
-Elder Scrolls is an RPG that has gotten spectacular reviews but I haven't played the series
-FIFA 12 if you like soccer at all (but soccer games historically have the most complicated controls schemes of any games out there)
Check this site for reviews: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/index.htm l" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I trust it more than any other site. Metacritic is also pretty good.

I usually dl games via Steam or Origin nowadays. The manuals (or lack thereof) have convinced me that it's not worth having a physical copy of the game. They have sales once in awhile that make it worthwhile - for example, I got BF3 for 1/2 price during the black friday weekend from Origin.

Best Buy, Amazon, Target usually.
I'm a big fan of www.slickdeals.net. There's almost always a listing for a video game on sale.
