Not easy to upstage Mick, Ronny, Eric, & Keith but John Lee Hooker makes it look easy.

One of the best albums ever made. Ever. The opening bass lines of So What are so good...
Whenever a list of my favorite albums Kind If Blue always makes the cut.
I need to go pull that out...maybe Satch and Josh while I'm at it. I wasn't a huge jazz fan until I got into Swing dancing, but now I own a ton of jazz/swing music even though I stopped regularly dancing 15 years ago

Nothing like a cup of coffee, reading the newspaper, and chilling to John Lee on a Sunday morning....

Heard this on the radio last weekend. Hadn't listened much to Neil Young recently but this has me digging back into his catalog. Especially his Crazy Horse material. :good2:
I think he passed the audition. :dup:
Lars And the Bastards. This is a fave of mine, funky bass line, and lyrics are very personal (he started the side project from Rancid when someone suggested he write about his time on the street; something along those lines):
The lyrics, if you wanna follow along with the vid:

Edit: the stress on the "off" syllables really make this a great song. Such an odd structure on that note.

The best patriotic song ever written. This a Cappella version is fantastic

Cracker: Eurotrash Girl
Underrated, IMO:

Loved Cracker since the first record and still listen to them this day. Another Song About the Rain is my underrated choice for them.

I don't have many songs by them, I should start really checking out their library. The mellow bassline vibe of Eurotrash Girl is a fave bassline of mine, and the chill mood of the song does remind me of TB Sheets (which I posted before). Just seems both songs could go for as long as they wanted it to go. Not too often opportunity happens in rock music/etc. (Jazz/blues, that's another story)

I put my music random on a random shuffle across the entire library and the 4th song is a classic Beastie Boys one (She's Crafty)
Listening to anything from License to Ill could really be a simple pleasure

While listening to Queen's GH in the car I thought back to the day when I was 9 and my best friend called me and said, "Come over I have your birthday present!" It was News of the World on vinyl, a Friday night and 2 days before I turned 10.
I bet we listened to the whole thing 2 or 3 times straight before his mom told us to get outside. Indian Summer was in full force still so she wanted us to enjoy what was left. After dinner we went back to his room and listened again and again until we fell asleep.
Although from a different record it gave me great pride during that car ride to hear the boys singing Fat Bottomed Girls word for word.

Yeah, just heard it myself. Great song!
Looking forward to seeing them Saturday and hearing the new song live.
Upcoming Pink Floyd 27 disc set....wish I could afford it. This would be amazing to have:

The only time I ever accepted free music from an internet DL (not offered directly by an artist like U2 a few years ago) was a friend gave me an MP3 with everything they've ever released at the time of the DL. I still feel guilty about it but...
That new Metallica tune definitely connects more with their earlier stuff. Which is a very good thing

Listening to music, since I have run out of podcasts that interest me to listen to at work and its between the hours of 9AM and 12PM. Currently got some Cody Jinks going. Damn, he's got a helluva voice. And then up next comes Stapleton, good run going. :dup:
I am completely convinced that even though it is a cover, Tennessee Whiskey was written to be sung by Stapleton. Heads and shoulders above the David Allen Coe version. Sorta like Johnny Cash and Hurt.
"Can't Hardly Wait" - The Replacements
House Of Pain wannabes, the Lordz Of Brooklyn, "Saturday Night Fever:"
For some reason, I do love me a lot of obscure "one-hit" (cough cough at best) wonders....

Eric Church tix on sale Sept 23rd. $25-$90 face value (approx). And he's going full out to prevent scalpers/bots. I'm not a country guy, except for him, and he ain't really pure country. Def not bro-country/pop-country. Hope to get a ticket.

I've got a great collection of Beethoven's Symphonies. Admittedly, the only ones I really listen to are the 5th and 9th.
Every time I hear the end of the 9th, I get flashbacks to the end of Immortal Beloved with him running through the woods to the lake.
EDIT: Not sure I was around at the B1G Mistake TG at the time Cowgirl played it, but just played the Disturbed cover... very well done. Maybe a little harsh toward the end, but it works.
I know this post was pretty old, but Beethoven's 3rd is my favorite classical piece. The 6th symphony is also great, and the 2nd and 7th are both underrated.
I thought this was beautiful. I heard it on the radio before I saw the video and was surprised how many more people were in it than I had picked out just hearing it.
It is called "Forever Country" and is a mashup up three iconic songs, with a total of 29 artists involved; well, actually 30 but one doesn't sing. (Without looking it up before you watch can you figure it out?!)
Even if you aren't a fan of country music I think you can appreciate the fantastic job they did bringing together several generations of country music. It's worth a listen.
A buddy just clued me into the following. I saw this show when they hit Minneapolis at First Ave. I think I need this album:

Never saw Semisonic in concert although I have their 2 records. I wonder if they ever play Trip Shakespeare stuff during their shows.
