Binging on Little River Band tonight...great songwriting and vocals...
A little Thursday variety:
Tom Petty's original band albeit after a 2010 or so reformation.
And being in the mood...
Rolling Stones October 24 US Bank Stadium
Aloha!
I saw The Who at The Target Center twenty-four years ago tonight. They were on tour performing Quadrophenia. Eight rows up from the floor, directly behind the soundboard. Great view and fantastic sound. :good2:

I just go an email notification that tickets for The Killers are going on sale tomorrow....for a concert in Sept. of 2022. Not sure I've seen tickets go on sale for a concert that is more than a year away except for maybe a stadium concert. Don't get me wrong, I love The Killers but they don't seem like type of band that needs to sell tickets that far in advance.
I’m sure this has been posted on here but first time I’ve seen it, what a cover..
Mick Jagger turned 78 today. Happy Birthday Mick.
RIP Dusty Hill of ZZ Top. I like their music but really liked the Netflix documentary about them.

Dusty Hill -- RIP.
That "little ol' band from TX" got a little smaller.

I received Princes new Cd Welcome 2 America and now I know why he did not release it, the songs are rather a slow beat for 12 songs
Aloha!
Not a huge H&O guy but when this fits it really fits:
Bonnie Raitt is an absolutely amazing slide guitar player. I have been watching some of her tribute stuff to Levon Helm / The Band.
ZZ Top will always be what a band at a biker bar should sound like.
(takes a while to load)
She has promise. Love the song (NSFW):

:rim: RIP
For all the Ginger Baker's and Keith Moon's of the rock world there weren't enough Ringo Starr's and Charlie Watt's in it. For me, Ringo and Charlie are tied together by their subdued but metronome-like drumming that laid the foundation of their all time bands.
I am not a Stones fan by any stretch of the imagination but I did, like a lot of all time bands, respect most of the musicians within the group and Charlie was one I respected as part of the Stones. I think to any of the live concert footage of the Stones and I was always drawn to the subdued Bill Wyman and Charlie. They were both right together laying down a groove for Richards and Wood to play over. Charlie's style was deadpan but I think it was because he respected his role in the band. I didn't know until reading about him today that he was a huge jazz music fan, it makes sense now since he always used the traditional grip on his left drumstick like most all jazz drummers do. The other thing that stands out is his penchant for rising his right drumstick usually on the fourth beat of a measure, I would have to watch more YouTube of him to confirm the exact beat but I think I'm close.
5 O.T. and I had a PM thread going this spring about our favorite drummers which was interesting. Charlie wasn't shared in that but I would imagine he probably influenced some of those we talked about.
RIP Charlie, your beats will be missed.
I am the official Iowa Hawkeye football fan of GPL!

People who think Ringo was a mediocre drummer need to listen to "Rain" or "Good Morning Good Morning" and then get back to me. Just cause he didn't go Wipeout a lot doesn't mean he wasn't top notch.
(I just so happen to have this DVD concert. Might have to give it another spin...)
Also happen to have their mega-concert BLU-RAY of Havana Moon which they played in front of a million plus music-starved Cubans.

Listen to The End from Abbey Road - the only time he did a "solo". People that dismiss Ringo must be smarter than all the current drummers that cite him as inspiration. And he wasn't the most sought after session drummer post Beatles of all time because of his name.
I’m not the only one wondering…how is Keith Richards still alive and Charlie gone? And you have to admire anyone, not just a rock star, who stays married to the same person for over 50 years!
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.
Charlie's good tonight in't he. :good2:
Saw this on the Twitter feed (I think) of another of my favorite drummers (Stewart Copeland) yesterday. It's really a fun watch as well as insightful.

No.
Probably starting with Keith.

One more Chicago cover from Leonid & Friends (5 O.T. will like the lead guitar).
OK, I lied. Just this one more. So well done! And the sound quality, with good speakers, is excellent.
Because I found out about this: https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/04/entertainment/ramones-guitar-punk-rock-auction/index.html (and does anyone have a couple hundred thousand bucks I can have/borrow?), I am listening to this particular band.
ONE guitar the whole time? Incredible.

Sort of a cross post from the movie thread, but a scene from a movie I re-watched tonight, and let's call it the Beta version of the Eminem rap battle scene from 8 Mile:

I'm in Deephaven right now and there is band playing in Wayzata for JJ Hill days and I can hear them plain as day. I know sound carries across water but the hell that's a pretty good distance.

You missed ZZ Top last night. Saw a couple of clips, via a friend, they still have it. I guess they had a recording of Dusty Hill singing "Tush" and that's the vocals they used when they played it. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Saw ZZ a few times in the 80's actually - but I wouldn't have hated seeing them again.
