Black Bird:
The true story of convicted drug dealer Jimmy Keene who is offered his freedom in exchange for coaxing a confession out of suspected serial killer Larry Hall and finding out where his victims are buried.
With Taron Egerton, Ray Liotta and Greg Kinnear among others. A very entertaining start through 2 eps so far.
Better Call Saul:
1. WHOA (not expected)
2. Whoa, but not whoa. Knew the result was going to happen somehow, but there were a couple different ways to do it.
The above 2 points were rather bang-bang, the first didn't even really need to happen, but it did, and boom goes the dynamite.

I guess this would fall under TV?
The new Chappelle speech at Duke Ellington School Of Arts (Netflix streaming). 40 minutes long, yes, some comedy bits, but mostly a reflection on how he got to where he was, and what his genre of art means to him. The speech is only about a month old, so yes, some um, recent topics are discussed. Very good watch.

Better Call Saul:
Well, that was a different episode. I liked it a lot, but strange pacing in the season to put this episode where it is.
4 eps left, I have a feeling they will go back to him turning into full Saul (remember, he doesn't have the Caddy, the ring, nor the flashy suit yet), and also continue the Gene line, to MAYBE find out his final fate (although I bet it's open-ended, to an extent, looking at the ending of Breaking Bad and the follow up movie El Camino). Finale will probably meet somewhere in the middle, during the Breaking Bad timeline (which at this point we all know that Walt and Jesse will be in this series in some fashion).

Archive 81:
An archivist takes a job restoring damaged videotapes, but finds themselves getting pulled into a mystery involving the missing director and a mysterious cult that they were documenting.
We only watched E1 so far but it was very compelling. Creepy, suspenseful and it set-up really well. Hopefully this can be maintained.

The previous episode…if that’s the end of that storyline and swan song for that key character…what a letdown and utter disappointment (from a writing standpoint). Monday’s episode (#10) was kinda out of left field (especially with only 3 episodes left) the finale is episode 13.
I don't think it was a letdown at all. We all pretty much knew it was going to happen, it was a matter of how?
And in Breaking Bad, checks to Saul were made out to Ice Station Zebra 😉 That was the "foreshadowing" of that key character's departure.

These last couple of eps are gonna be really intriguing...
Side note: some friends and I have been talking...there is another spinoff to be utilized, and probably the only one worthwhile: Don Eladio/etc. That series could be amazing.

Trainwreck: Woodstock '99. 3-part series about the festival. I either was tuned out to the news at the time or my memory has failed me, but I don't remember how ugly things got there Sunday night after it was all over. I knew the festival was a shit show but my goodness Sunday night was a shit show on steroids.

I'm going to have to check that out, I was pretty glued to MTV when that all went down. Limp Bizkit pretty much got all the blame for the riots but if I remember there was much more going on with the entire festival, it just happened to blow up when Bizkit was on stage.
I've never attended a music festival and Woodstock '99 pretty much had all the things that make me leery about festival go wrong; expensive once you're in the gate, not enough bathroom facilities, and just general lack of give a crap about the concert goers.

I do want to check that doc out, I really wanted to go, but finances (due to being in college at the time) made that rather impossible. So, I tried to get all the info I could as it was going on, and I'm glad I didn't go. That fest ended up being the exact OPPOSITE of what Woodstock was all about. It was very sad. 🙁

Watched it all tonight. I mis-remembered. I was in college for Woodstock II (which was also a sh*show, for different reasons). Woodstock99 was pure carnage. Limp Bizkit definitely lit the match, and RHCP did NOTHING to calm it down the next night. They actually should get equal "blame" if one wants to blame artists. F
or a fest like that? You ask the best security firm how much you need, and then increase it at least 1.5 times, hopefully double it. Same with bathrooms/porta potties.
Let all water bottles in, as long as they are sealed upon entry. You'll make your money on the other things.
Provide Oktoberfest-like tents for shade. It's July, for crying out loud. Miniscule expense for a fest that size.
As for the candles? Are you idiots?

I watched Trainwreck this weekend and the concert parts I remembered pretty well, I also remembered plenty of the MTV spots especially when Kurt Loder said "We're out of here". It does seem like the downfalls were completely on the organizers on not being prepared for the sheer number of fans and providing the infrastructure to ensure most all their needs were filled. Water, restrooms, medical, and security just have to be at the top of the list for a festival.
You really have to look to Europe on how to put on a festival. Glastonbury, Download, and Rock Am Ring are just a few that have made it work for years without the kind of meltdown Woodstock '99 had. I would also have to say that I've only read about it but Europeans approach things much differently than Americans. I think the biggest downfall of Woodstock '99 was the douchebag frat-boy nu metal fan that had no give a s%#t about those around him or the festival itself.

I’m 3 episodes in (of 6 total) to the Disney+ documentary about the origins of Industrial Light & Magic. It’s really good. Highly recommend
Better Call Saul (2nd to last ep of the series):
Quite a few questions answered.
Great scene: "Hey, can I bum one of those?" I was laughing my arse off on that one. How effing random!
That ending...wow. Even though there are only 2-3 pieces of the puzzle missing, you really have no idea which one goes where.

It was an amazing episode, top to bottom. Can’t wait to watch the finale.

Severance Episode 8 was just bonkers!
Kudos to Ben Stiller for his part in this series, but also massive credit goes to those in charge of casting, set design, music, writing and cinematography. It’s been an absolute masterclass in constructing suspense, the main plot and subplots, character reveals, and drawing the viewer in and feeling vested in what happens next. Highly, highly recommend.
I just watched the full 1st season of "Severance" yesterday and today... All I can say is WOW.

TMobile now has free AppleTV so I immediately started Severance and watched the first 2 eps. I feel like I should take it slow and appreciate it since there’s only 9 to get through.
Reading up on Fargo S5 (likely not released until 2023) it will star Jon Hamm, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Juno Temple and Joe Keery among others, and Noah Hawley returns as the showrunner who also headed up S1.
I’m in the middle of the series on Derek Jeter, “The Captain”. Enjoying it thus far. Some nice looks back into baseball memory lane.
"The Suspect". If you have a way to watch E1 of this British crime drama I highly recommend.
I did NOT watch the trailer, on purpose.
Through 5 eps tonight, and holy crap Eps 4 and 5 were crazy insane. I fear if this series has one more season, it will go to sh*, the way the story is unfolding. However, right now it is really culminating into a grab-you-by-the-throat "YOU ARE IN THIS NOW!" feeling, and it's darn good. I literally had to stop so I could digest everything, and ponder what could happen next.

Cobra Kai:
Finished up the season. Now, it has gotten redonkulous over the course of the 5 seasons, but this season's finale really went overboard, a bit too much IMO. HOWEVER, they finished up nicely, EXCEPT a certain "out" (and it's a very obvious, but narrow, out) that will possibly lead to a 6th season, and I feel that would be a mistake. I hope I'm wrong, but...I don't think the outlook is promising.

I agree. This season was a little too predictable. The out was crazy but they needed something to use as a jumping off point if there is another season. Silver's big evil plan was pretty lame IMHO. They could have done better with that and still had the season play out a similar way.

House of the Dragon is so good. Halfway thru the first ep I wasn’t sure about the series but then it got good. Matt Smith’s Daemon is awesome and I love the amount of scenes where they convey their feelings with facial expressions only. Paddy Considine is also very unique as Viserys, kind of in the same way as Robert Baratheon was.
Gave Ep 1 of The Serpent Queen although it's on a short leash it was intriguing enough to give Ep 2 a view.
Can it be November 13th yet?

The Real Bling Ring (Netflix streaming)
Based on the "Bling Ring" robberies that took place in LA rich suburbs between 2008-2009. Three-part documentary with access to the gang that perpetuated the heist.
The participants were rather frank in their answers, obviously contradictory stories at times, but a very interesting doc nonetheless. They craved attention, poo-pooed "celebrity" vs "star," and yet here I am watching them, creating their "celebrity" status, while wanting to know the real story. Total Catch-22.
Rather raw at times, and meta at other times, but overall, I thought it was well done. The 3 eps are about 45-50 minutes each, so it's worth a go.

Sadly, the only thing I know him from is Ski Patrol.
Started watching "La Reina del Sur" on Netflix streaming, aka "Queen Of The South." I have seen the USA series, and read the source novel.
The USA series (5 seasons, about a dozen eps per) greatly strayed from the book, and 4 eps in, the Telemundo/Univision version (2 seasons, but 60 eps per, so a telenovela/soap opera) is keeping close to the book. Enjoying it, for sure.

He was hilarious in Boston Legal, I think he was a recurring character for a single season. I think he and Betty White’s characters we’re friends or something like that and Leslie kept accidentally killing people. It was super goofy.
