This past Thursday was the last NFL Thursday night game on an over the air network(Fox). Next weeks game is on NFL Network. Next year all Thursday night games will be exclusively on Amazon streaming service. I think Amazon has an 11 year deal. Since we don't have Amazon prime, it would cost me $9 a month to get those games... :chainsaw:
Having it exclusively on Amazon is BS
Can you repeat that part… But in English?
Well Jup, I also can not decypher it.
At least I'm smart enough to know you don't poke a guy that has ban hammer power. Dumb.
There's apparently some sort of inside language mixed with text-speak, as best I can make out.
I couldn't even figure it out, and I am fairly familiar in text speak AND leet.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I figured it out. I'm dumber for having done so.

Being a stubborn ass, I re-read and re-read, and I understand it now, and I wish I didn't. I'll just say the poster makes me really proud I'm me, and not that poster.

I'll probably go back to YTTV and give them one more chance. Nice to know that Fubo is a suitable backup option.
One more whiny email from YTTV about negotiating with somebody and I'll drop them for Fubo.
I'm honestly surprised they got a deal done. I thought that if there was a deal to be had, they'd have done it before service was interrupted. I'm sure they lost a lot of people who switched immediately and just won't bother switching back. Seems like Disney fleeced them.

You should probably just change now then. But you'll probably get such an email from Fubo eventually as well. This won't stop with the streaming services as long as they are cheaper than cable/dish.

After mulling it over, I think I am sticking with Fubo. Basically the same price for all the same programming, + NHL Network.
No Turner networks which will only be a problem come March Madness. For that month I'll cancel Fubo and use YTTV for a month.
At the end of the day, the flexibility and not being locked into any contracts makes the finaggling more than worth it, in my eyes.
Yeah, I was gonna switch to Fubo tomorrow. Partly cause of MNF but also all the bowl games on ESPN. Sucks that I had to go into the app, turn all those channels back on and then rebuild my live guide but I don’t expect them to have the technology to remember any of that.
Star Tribunes sports person of the year?? Suni Lee, much deserved, St Paul pride!

It's a little ambitious to call it a "cave".
Oh hell. That’s not a cave.
So why does the TNT pregame broadcasters for tonight’s hockey game are covering the game from Atlanta?

Hmmmm.............I really at the time thought The Athletic had a great business idea. But, if they're losing money and selling out to the NY Times it appears it didn't really work.
In this day and age it's a hard sell to pay for content online rather than "paying" via watching ads and things like that. And with those you have adblock as an option a lot of the time.
Hmmmm.............I really at the time thought The Athletic had a great business idea. But, if they're losing money and selling out to the NY Times it appears it didn't really work.
If The Athletic stays as a separate subscription under the NYTimes umbrella I'm not sure it has "failed" yet.
If The Athletic ends up being covered by a subscription to the NYTimes it's a different story.
I just think they went after the best of the best beat writers and ended up overpaying ( or burning their budget) for those people. They should have maybe gone with ten or so of the best in each major sport and then supplemented with younger, up and coming (not as expensive) writers. They also burned a ton of money on a failed web channel with some high profile journalists. I hope they hang on, as I love their (pro) hockey coverage the most.

You're assuming this wasn't the plan all along, which I believe is incorrect. It was always a VC enterprise whose goal was to build a big subscriber base that they could then sell off to another entity at a nice profit. They were able to draw a lot of big names, like Russo, by handing out stock options with the understanding that they'd make bank once the company got sold off. Considering how long it took to find a buyer, how much money they bled, and that they only got like 75% of what they were looking for, I'm not sure if it ended up being as much as they hoped, but I'm sure they made out fine.

I don’t mind the ticker as much as some do but it makes my TV look really good when it’s not there

I think they got in trouble when they kind of hit a saturation point of investing in beat writers, got stuck with a what's next and started to try and hire some video production people/talent. It was a very expensive move that didn't mesh the entire rest of the site and then the pandemic hit. I think their podcast move made a lot of sense as it involved a lot of the same people they already had on staff.
As Maize said... most VC types have their exit strategy in mind almost as soon as they launch the business... I just hope the site doesn't change too much under new ownership.
Here’s one person’s take on the Athletic purchase
The Athletic was a disaster for local news. The damage is already done.

Jason Derusha said this same thing on Twitter.
How professional of her to keep her cool and even be polite to the person who hit her. Most people would probably handle that very differently if it happened to them, especially if nobody was recording - and then sue. Shit happens and she took it like a champ!
Well, she did call it out as "I just got hit by a car, but I'm OK. I just got hit by a car, but I'm OK, Tim"
Very glad she really is OK
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
They were talking about that on Burrito today on KFAN, and yes, the in-studio person only has audio. No clue what happened other than something weird. Also, the reporter was apparently alone, and set up a stationary camera, had her back to traffic, at night, which spells trouble.
