ch 11 says they're going to do a story on the Brodzinski brothers at 6:30 tonite.
Must have been a short story. I turned Kare 11 on at 6:38 and they were talking about some restaurant.
Nevermind. The story hasn't run yet.
So trying to watch Twins game on Bally’s broadcast has stadium sound ok but broadcasters sound very low sounds like a am broadcast
Aloha!
Posters on here that complain about Bucci being over the top should have heard the tv announcer's call on the game winning run. You'd think they just won the World Series.
Was it a Twins game...cause local guys being over the top makes more sense. National guys should be more even keel.
Yes, the Twins but it wasn't Bremer. IDK who it was.Was it a Twins game...cause local guys being over the top makes more sense. National guys should be more even keel.
Cory Provus I think. Bremer out with Covid.
Proves definitely tracks...he bugs me.

Provus is one of the best PBP guys the Twins have ever had. Stop trying to look smart…again.
I finally found it, this doesn’t seem as crazy as advertised.

I honestly dont know what that means. You know it is ok for you to like someone and me not to like them right? He just isn't my cup of tea not sure why that got your panties in a bunch.
And I highly doubt anyone would say Provus is one of the best the Twins have ever had unless they only started listening/watching lately. But if so, good for them glad they like him. No skin off my nose.

That doesn't seem like an overreaction at all. It was a walk off hit in extra innings against the defending champs in the home opener. If anything I would expect more out of him. Regional guys should act just like that.
I am not sure why Provus' voice bugs me, but that call was pretty spot on from an excitement level imho.
But maybe I am trying to "look smart" again whatever the hell that means ? ? ?
Herb Carneal didn't get half that wound up when the Twins won the World Series.I finally found it, this doesn’t seem as crazy as advertised.

One of the best ever, right up there with Vin in my humble opinion. I remember reading a book about baseball announcers and I can't recall the exact quote but the author basically said if Herb had worked in a top 5 market there would have been statues and network deals for him....

If we’re going to use Herb as the standard we’re never going to like anyone. ?
Herb is radio though its a bit different. Jack Buck was pretty excited when the Twins won in '91 and he was national 😉
Herb was by far the best play by play guy. I'm old enough to remember Halsy Hall. He was the color guy but was also outstanding. Fond memories of WCCO on in the garage listening to the Twins game with my dad.Herb Carneal didn't get half that wound up when the Twins won the World Series.I finally found it, this doesn’t seem as crazy as advertised.

That is why I will continue to say that there was no bias against the Big Ten or Minnesota. They want schools like us in there because we have the most people who will will watch.

NSFW. Glen Kuiper of the A's broadcast team during yesterday's pregame in Kansas City. He later apologized during the broadcast: ""Welcome back to Kauffman Stadium. I just want to ... a little earlier in the show, I said something, didn't come out quite the way I wanted it to. And I just wanted to apologize if it sounded different than I meant it to be said. And like I said, I just wanted to apologize for that."

I remember the days when the radio sat on top of the fridge or on a shelf in the garage, always set to WCCO.
And it wasn't just our house. All the dads puttered around the yard to the sounds of Halsey Hall, Herb Carneal, or Backlash LaRue.
My paternal grandma never missed a Twins game on the radio. Oh it's on tv? Nope. Forget that, it was radio.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Same here. Dad had the cco morning show on everyday, grandma listened to the twins on the Duluth affiliate.
I can still hear the good morning song in my head.
I have an old AM/FM radio on a shelf in my garage. I put on the Twins game and point it out the window when I’m in the backyard messing around.
I couldn't count how many times I laid in bed listening to a Twins or North Stars game on my clock radio, nor how many times listening to a Gophers or Vikings game while working in the yard or garage with my pop on fall weekends. The latter was often accompanied by a variety of expletives from the guy that inspired the dad character in A Christmas Story
I still listen to the Gophers hockey on the radio (although I choose to not pay for any decent cable). It's just old-school. To hear someone describe something you cannot see is indeed artful. I definitely have an appreciation for that.

How can I get the Big 10 1979 Herb Brooks big 10 Elite complete video when I go to google or Utube it just has clips of the video.

This blogger is not a fan of Paul Allen on KFAN. I don’t listen so I have no idea if he’s right.
KFAN is turrible for me from start to finish. There isn't a single show I listen to on regular basis, even Barreiro who was my only regular listen up until several years ago. Obviously their numbers remain strong so my opinion doesn't matter, but I'm amazed how such stale content has remained this viable 20 years on with virtually no change throughout the lineup.
I catch a few minutes here and there, and PA does coast a bit for his show. Almost seems like he's a moderator at times, letting Paul Charchyan (sp?) and Nordo put out the information.

His arguments about not knowing what is going on with the Vikings are weak IMO. He's asking Nordo/Charch to expand theories about what may happen. He may very well know exactly what their plans are but he can't very well go on the air and say "Their plan is to release Dalvin" when they may be trying to trade him first. Just like he's not going to go out and say "They're trying to extend JJ for X amount". The rest of MN sports he may not be real knowledgeable on but I don't necessarily think it is lack of caring tbh.
With Bally’s Sinclair having so many operations issues can we get Fox Sports North back in Business?

I listen to Barreiro and Dave Sinykin (who I enjoy and I find easy to listen to even though I don't always enjoy the his NBA focused talk) but otherwise I agree. KFAN really isn't my thing. (The Power Trip is worse than my lunchroom table back at Prior Lake Junior High in the 70's. Simply not funny, intelligent, or even mildly witty. I made one negative comment on Twitter once and got blocked, so I could add thin skinned as well.... )
But as they say, the numbers don't lie, and I recognize I'm in the minority. To each their own.
I listen to short doses of KFAN. I like Barreiro (esp when Pat Kessler is on), Common Man is average but better when Rosen makes an appearance. Power Trip is horrible, just God-awful. PA has some decent stuff, but overall, that show as a whole just coasts, as I mentioned earlier.

@frozen4champs Diamond Sports is bankrupt. Their parent company Sinclair Broadcasting is not bankrupt.
Also, Bankrupt doesn't really mean "we don't have any money at all." I believe more generally it means "We have more debt/obligations than we have (or can get) assets to pay with"
Add in parent companies, and it gets really complex.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
When I said " they don't have any money". it was more of a statement that they don't have enough money on hand to pay the teams what they owe them. They obviously have some cash and assets on hand or none of the games they have the rights to would be on the air. Employees and venders of theirs would quit. I just don't see them giving the Twins anymore of the money they owe them and can see MLB taking over the video rights like they had to do with the Padres. Also, the teams they are refusing to pay are teams that don't bring in the most advertising revenue and could be considered lower tier.
Time for a rant--
I get that bad things can happen to good people that can cause bankruptcy. Medical debt is one of the main ones. I understand that. I have seen that happen and sympathize with that. What irks me is when I see people who have zero financial control spend over their skis and use bankruptcy as a safety net and walk away in a better position than before only to start the cycle over again.

Rob Manifred testified that the Sinclair textbook for the acquisition of the former Fox Sports Regional networks was to win the networks bid, go through bankruptcy to cut the costs, profit handsomely, and then sell them again.
That obviously did not go to plan.
Normally, bankruptcy (in Chapter 11) to go through a restructuring and allow for them to determine which contracts they want to affirm and which ones they want to cancel. That can give bankrupt companies some leverage to renegotiate their existing agreements-- since, for an airline (for example), a pilot's union doesn't really have a market alternative to run to, thus they can sit at the table to make a deal. But here, where a MLB team has an acceptable alternative to go to, there isn't a lot of leverage to renegotiate. So Diamond tried to use the Courts to reform the contract, and the Hail Mary strategy fell incomplete by 20 yards.
So either the company finds the cash to pay (hello, papa Sinclair?) or they cancel the contracts and let the teams go their separate ways.
That Diamond let the Padres go tells me Sinclair is going to cut bait here relatively quickly-- otherwise why would you voluntarily let content go? I suppose they can pick and choose which content they intend on keeping, but the Court's order basically says that it will not be unilaterally changing contract terms so they either have to live by what was agreed to or get out. That isn't an optimal way of cutting costs while offering the same content.
Here is a great deal for any recent grads.

The Athletic laid off 20 more writers yesterday. They are still bleeding cash. It appears that the MN based writers are safe ( for now ). I love the Athletic for its coverage of the NHL and investigative stories. I hope they survive.

Honestly I have paid for The Athletic a couple different times and alsays end up canceling. I find the site and app to be kind of a pain and all tbe stories just read the exact same way which is boring.
I like The Athletic but it's like SiriusXM for me. I'd never pay full price for it but if I'm getting a majorly discounted rate I'll keep subscribing.
The layoffs affected 4% of the staff and nothing local. However they did lay off Daniel Kaplan who I like as he covers sports business. Athletic was purchased by NY Times. I'm sure their still trying to identify the different business needs and if any can be duplicated by their own writers already on staff. I think Russo said that he is covering the Panthers for The Athletic as they don't have anyone who covers them. Minnesota has two.
If you want an interesting read, check out this Wikipedia page about The National. It was a daily print newspaper from the early 90s that lasted just over a year.
