Cris Carter. Was at the state fair years and years ago. I shouted “HEY, YOU’RE CRIS CARTER!”

He said, “Yep.” and surprisingly put out his hand. I shook it, it hurt, and he walked away quickly.

I’ve shaken Walter Mondale’s hand twice. Once down in Mankato when he was running as the replacement to Wellstone, another time at a cafe near the Guthrie.

I've had the chance to meet Alan Hale, Jr. & Gordie Howe.

Both were sober ( I think, I was pretty young :) ) & there was no kissing involved.

Let's see...

Benchwarmer Bob when the Vikings played a charity BBall game at our school back in the late '70's (incidentally, my wife and I just ran into him at the Lakeville theater last Thursday).

Warren Johnson and Shirley Muldowney at Seafair Nationals in Seattle in 1989?

Danny Glover and Willem Dafoe while they were filming "Flight of the Intruder" on my ship.

Zygi Wilf - my brother and I went to the Dallas game in 2016, and my wife's girlfriend got us pre-game field level passes.

Since it's the season what are your favorite and least favorite Christmas songs? Are there certain ones you like by specific artists more than others?

My favorites are Do You Hear What I Hear and Silent Night. I went with my wife to a Lorie Line concert one year and one of her group (I believe his name is Robert Robinson) sang a version of What Child is This that was simply incredible even though it's not really in my top tier of favorites.

In terms of least favorite I'm just not a huge fan of any of Elvis's Christmas songs. Blue Christmas probably drives me the most up the wall.

Not sure I have a favorite and I as one who does not necessarily enjoy Christmas music I really like the Jazz Holidays station on SiriusXM.

Angels We Have Heard On High by Brian Setzer Orchestra is a favorite of mine.

Not a fan of Merry Christmas Baby by Springsteen but his version of Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town is another favorite.

Rockin’ Xmas on Sirius is currently my favorite channel.

I like "happy" Christmas music. It's supposed to be a merry time of year, but there are an awful lot of songs that are trying to make you sentimental/cry.

I have depression; the last thing I need is to feel down, especially after this tire fire of a year. :D

For me it's Kirby Puckett. I used to volunteer at his celebrity 8 ball tournament and had the opportunity to meet him. Very good guy.

Walter Payton and OJ Simpson.

Met OJ at a Las Vegas Costco over Thanksgiving a few years back... it was following his "bar fight" incident out there by a week or so. Nice guy for having some rage issues.

Since today is 6 geese a-laying day here's my goose story.

My grandmother was French, unabashedly French. She always had those huge grey French geese on the farm, the ones with the big beaks. Well let me tell you, as kids, they terrified me and my cousins! They would chase us around the farm yard, honking loudly, their 6 ft wing span flapping. They always tried to nip the back of our legs. They were just MEAN! We tried to avoid them at all costs.

Now she had them because it’s just not a French Christmas without roast goose and fois gras. So each year that’s what was on the holiday table. And each year I and my cousins would cheer! One less goose! But alas, they reproduced like clockwork and they still chased us. It’s the trauma of my youth. ?

Emden is the domestic geese I have experiance with. No need for a lawn mower with 8 to10 of these. Add a few Guinea hens to chase down bugs and you are set.

Just dont expect to sit on the grass and shoes are left in the entry.

Got a question for y’all:

Do you have any rituals, superstitions, habits etc. that you partake in regarding a Gopher Hockey game?

I’ll start. I only wear white/gold jerseys at home, and maroon on the road.

I wear maroon undergarments to games.

I don’t really have any superstitions but as some of you here have experienced (or even provided yourself), sometimes when you’re in need of a goal you need to send someone to the bathroom to “pee a goal.”

I should explain:

2007 we were down 3-0 in the first regional game vs. Air Force. We were watching at an establishment a friend worked at at the time. Diesel Gopher went to the bathroom and while in there we scored. We joked he had peed a goal. A bit later we jokingly sent someone else to go and again we scored. We told a third person to go and we scored again.

It became a joke after that. One series up at MTU we sent the same girl to the bathroom I think six times in a crazy back and forth game, our group would start chanting “Go pee. Go pee” and she’d be embarrassed enough and go just to make us stop. Each and every time we scored so we just kept sending her. Mazocco even noticed her constantly running to the bathroom and asked what was up, he joked they’d get her a tv and a chair so she could just stay in the bathroom.

So that’s how peeing a goal came about. Yep it’s silly and I know purely coincidental but although I try never to miss the live action, it’s always fun to hear Gopher fans erupt when you’re away from the action and can only hear it.

I don’t really have any superstitions but curious if anyone else does.

Go.

I don’t think of it as a superstition, but my hubby and I kiss after every goal Wink It’s dumb and we’ve done it forever. Even when we’re watching tv at home, it’s just a tradition.

I like to have a beer or two during the games, however, I will NOT drink a beer from the opponent's state during that series, the one exception has been Houghton road trips, because "when in Rome" supersedes the superstition, and when it comes to intra-state series, I won't drink a beer from that city or that city's "metro area."
