Yeah, UVM fan here, made an account here to chime in and add perspective.

We weren't talented (I mean, we won one game all season), but we also have a fairly sizable freshman class coming in, and one thing you might not have noticed is the vast majority of these guys are seniors who will have that 5th year of eligibility. Burns and Boyko are the only underclassmen from this batch. (Beck's lack of stats is because he was our third goalie.)

I'm not too overly concerned - these guys get the chance to go win somewhere else and we can proceed with the rebuild.

Why? He could go to UND if they lose Pinto and Kawaguchi.

I’m sure other schools will be after him. I remember when he de-committed he talked about how hard it was for him to make that decision and didn’t seem like any hard feelings

I don't see that as a big indicator uw is the favorite. Everyone will want him. Gophers don't have room really. Skaters like him are exactly what I want more of.

They’ll strongly be in the mix. Hometown school, they lose a lot, and don’t have a ton of forwards coming in so would think they’ll be very aggressive pursuing him. I’m sure UND will as well.

I bet Ben Copeland will follow Cruikshank into transfer portal.

This explains tBob's pause during the coaches show when asked if anyone will enter the portal. My guess is that his philosophy is that he will encourage the seniors who want to continue to play, it would be best to move on as he doesn't want to hold back the incoming class. Wonder if McManus will end up at Az St. The only player I could see him keeping would be Laffer, but my guess is he is turning pro.

No way these get scooped up - every team is trying to shed their 5th year seniors to absorb incoming recruits so I'm not sure where these folks can go?!

Some will where there are holes on rosters, but I can't imagine all will.

You will also see the fringe guys end up at D3 and some just be done. You're right they all can't go D1 to D1.

This will be very interesting to see how things shake out. There are certainly some names on this list I am sure team with a light senior class could use.

Are these mostly seniors? Why so many guys jumping ship?

The eye test on the latest list shows a majority are seniors. There are a bunch from todays list and before that are from the result of coaching changes this past year or this off season ( Vermont, CC stand out). The players from earlier this year were from teams that did not play this year. I think this list will dramatically decrease next year because the "free" year. Next year will be mostly grad transfers with a some lower end players who want a change of scenery. There will always be the outlier of a good player who is not meshing with their coach ( Moe). It will be interesting how this will shake out. I think the blue bloods may pick a player to fill a hole, but don't expect them to gobble up 3 or 4 players.The blue bloods always have recruits to fill most holes. I think it will help the lesser schools fill out rosters, or someone like Arizona St ( what 24 year old doesn't want to live in AZ) or the new schools coming up like Long Island or Lindenwood. I think St Thomas will be fine.
