With how active Notre Dame is in the portal and with their cake eater connections that wouldn't surprise me at all
Now in the portal:

26 in August. Potentially two years of eligibility left? Move on with your life!
So their D next year is: Kaiser Gallatin Gotz Francis + Pierce Bodnarchuk Dubinsky Portal pickups (cough Brinkman cough or Kjellberg/Daschke) A weaker unit by their recent standards.
Daschke to UMD

That’s a nice one year pickup for tUMD, Daschke has 80+ career points as a Defenseman at Miami along with being their Captain?
Quieting down for the year in the portal. Top 5 left something like this:
Calder (UND)
Dornbach (Harvard)
Mastrosimone (BU)
Smilanic (Qpac)
St. Cyr (Qpac - G)

Seeing rumors that Broz is planning on heading to SCCC. Not sure of the validity. A few connections there though.
I expected Perbix and Brodzinski to SCSU. Would have never thought it'd be Broz and Cruikshank instead... SCSU would come out way better with those two.

With how little Cruikshank and Broz provided last season we are really concerned about this?

Broz is going to be a very good college player.

I will wait and see. You are obsessed with NHL draft status. I’m not. He looked mediocre at best this year.

Look for it in year 3 and 4. Huglen and Pitlick look better than him but he had a top 9 role waiting for him, 100%.

Pittsburgh wouldn’t be very happy if he’s playing college hockey that long.
Yeah if he is playing in year 4 then he never lived up to the potential...
Dornback to Denver. That dream is dead.
F***
Was probably too late to talk to him.
Ryder Donovan in the portal. Really never got anything going at uw, or anywhere outside of Duluth East for that matter.
Vermont is stock pilling a bunch of Minnesotans.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.

Interesting
I seen that Perbix is heading to WMU.
The Krygier brothers have exited the portal and will return to Sparty for their 5th year.

I bet Moyle stays at Michigan too.
Only depth forwards left…
We knew the portal was done for any good options weeks ago. The only potential portal pickup I could see is Knies brother, just to say thanks to Matt for another year and have another body at this point.

Looks like he’s already played five years of college hockey. Don’t see that happening
I agree with Bonin. We probably take 2 out of the trio of Walker, Brody Lamb, Phil Knies.
knies has eligibility from medical redshirt

No. No. Why would you do that?
Because they are in need to warm bodies at this point and two of those are draft picks and one is a former NCHC captain (we know leadership has been an issue).

We have 2 forward positions to fill. One top 9, one depth. Who do you see as other options? I’m not saying those are top choices, just realistic ones that can fill roles.

This obsession with the NCHC is gross and stupid. He's not a good player. He wouldn't play much and wouldn't get a letter as a 1 year transfer.

Actually we don’t know leadership has been an issue. You take rumor and innuendo as fact as long as it is negative and assume leadership has been an issue.
Chuck lucius told him the leadership was a problem and he felt special about knowing "inside" info because it was negative.
Who are top portal options? Kyler Grundy, Kaden Pickering?? Haven’t seen either play, just going off stats.
Notre Dame is certainly taking advantage of the portal this year.
In the coming days/weeks/months I anticipate a much better vibe on this and a few other threads.

The Transfer Portal has worked out exactly the opposite of what I predicted when it came to be. I figured there'd be a late bloomer at Robert Morris or Merrimac who wanted to play for a more prominent program, say Minnesota for instance. What's happened instead is if you're a Gopher who's not getting the ice time you feel you should, you transfer out.

I’ve got absolutely no issue with ONE transfer during a college career without having to sit out. I think it brings more equity to the equation (between players & coaches) it needs to be a 2 way street & communication needs to be open & transparent between the two parties. Keep in mind (technically) that a players scholarship is renewed annually by the HC. Just my 2 cents.

lol…I don’t think eyore has been banned indefinitely…probable for a month thou…
I got the feeling that 'maroon and gold' is a 2nd login for him but I could be wrong about that and mea culpa if I am.
Nah...I thought that at first but the posts read differently and I don't think he is smart enough to pull that off and not tip his hand.
Smilanic from QU to Sconny.
Women’s hockey
A Harvard player named Taze Thompson, who I did not see on our portal list, has transferred to Northeastern.
I did a big update to the portal page today with destinations that I've found for the men's and women's portal entries.
Most of the Men have found places to play if thats D1, D3, back to Jrs or sign a pro deal.
The women will start to filter in more as rosters get posted.
I was able to fix the bugs in this thread so it displays properly. So I have opened it back up.

Student-athletes who transfer will be guaranteed their financial aid at their next school through graduation, the Division I Board of Directors decided Wednesday in a virtual meeting.
NCAA rules now will require any school that considers athletics when awarding scholarships to transfer student-athletes to provide that scholarship for the rest of a student’s five-year eligibility or until they complete the requirements for their bachelor’s degree, unless the student transfers again or engages in professional athletics opportunities.
College athletes in all sports will continue to be immediately eligible the first time they transfer, provided they notify their schools in writing during designated notification-of-transfer windows (as determined by their sport.)
The board adopted the following notification-of-transfer windows for winter sports, which includes men’s and women’s hockey: a 60-day window beginning the day after championships selections are made in the sport.
The legislation also establishes exceptions to the new windows for student-athletes who experience head coach changes or have athletics aid reduced, canceled or not renewed.
The board also adopted new, more specific standards for immediate eligibility waivers for student-athletes who do not otherwise meet the one-time transfer exception, focusing on student-athlete well-being or circumstances outside the student-athlete’s control.
The board opted not to enact a new exception to the transfer rules that would allow student-athletes to transfer multiple times and be immediately eligible if they meet progress-toward-degree requirements at their new school. However, the board remains committed to continuing to study the impact of the new transfer rules in both the short and long term.
@slap-shot This is an interesting change.
One one hand, it limits hockey transfers to doing so in a 60-day window. That is good so you know where your team stands by June 1. That is usually the window for early departures anyway, so it gives schools and coaches a chance to fill needs.
But the scholarships issue means a school has to be prepared for guaranteeing funds for whoever they get for a transfer. That means 1-year transfers would probably be just fine; but, 2-3 year transfers are going to be more of a risk-- since you need to be ensuring their scholarship funds are locked in 3 years from now.
