Terrible call against Mankato

Big ten refs in disguise?
UMASS going to take out providence and get real close to punch their ticket, which is going to create all sorts of havoc with the regionals. NE trying to mount a late comeback vs BU to battle in. Great early action in HE

@mikeeruzione11 I don’t see a kick but that’s just me and a very limited video clip there
Ohio goal called off due to offsides. I didn't see it from the replay I saw. Puck was way in the air and at an angle.
Not sure how they make that call.

horrible call based on the angles they had. Absolutely a stands as called on the ice.

I feel like in cases like that another official is extremely confident it was offside and manages to convince everyone else to overturn it, video evidence be damned.
Michigan state wins 2-1. Next weekend at Munn will be a challenging place to play regardless of who ends up there of MN or Mich.
OSU season is done
The State of Hockey Bleeping SUCKED Saturday.
Both Gopher teams
UMD women losing by the worst total in NCAA Tournament History
SCSU, Minnesota State, UMD men all lose.
Wild lose
Bemidji was the only team to win. 1-7 on the day.
Brutal.
What do they do if the 3, 4, 13, and 14 seeds are both all NCHC?
3-1 in the Jan/western game (Jan up) early second.
go broncos.
edit 4-1 on a power play. I may have to change the channel after listening to these announcers. Blech.
5-1 final. Got a little chippy at the end.
What do they do if the 3, 4, 13, and 14 seeds are both all NCHC?
they will in likelihood shift one of the opponents at least to be an AQ. Lot of volatility between 11-14 right now. They will have the right to put NCHC teams against each other in that scenario as (likely) they will have 5 teams in in that situation.
UMASS also sitting as a 4 seed messes with a lot of things for where teams end up in terms of being close to home for top seeds (would probably push BU west)
Based on my extremely amateur projections, we likely get the winner of this Omaha/CC game in the first round. Omaha just took the lead 2-1 in the third.

hard to know for sure, but probably one of the two unless umass wins and then it gets a little more weird.
CC all the way to 14 with the loss. Yikes. They just became huge fans of chalk

I agree. I think there’s a good chance the Gophers get Omaha in first round.

Which then would send us to Sioux Falls by default. Exciting time of year!

WMU has to be pretty pumped.
Here's my current bracket (which assumes Denver wins the NCHC and MSU wins the B1G):
Providence - 1 BC, 6 Maine, 12 Western, 16 Bemidji
Springfield - 2 BU, 7 Quinnipiac, 10 Michigan, 15 RIT
St. Louis - 4 Michigan State, 5 North Dakota, 9 Wisconsin, 14 CC
Sioux Falls - 3 Denver, 8 Minnesota, 11 Omaha, 13 UMass

Sioux Falls - 3 Denver, 8 Minnesota, 11 Omaha, 13 UMass
UMass is a host in Springfield
I see the most volatility in the brackets comes from the NCHC tourney. it will be an interesting weekend of games in St Paul.

Would love to see Whioux get a 2 seed and end up with Michigan or Wisco in the first round. Seems somewhat possible especially playing an Omaha team they can't seem to beat.
Playing around with the PWR predictor, I'm trying to figure out what possible combination leads to the 0.2% chance the probability matrix gives the Gophers to slip back up to #6. 7 is pretty simple: QU loses to SLU.

Gah, the brackets are really messed up this year

Ok let's try again
Providence - 1 BC, 6 ME, 9 UW, 16 BSU
St. Louis - 2 BU, 5 ND, 10 MI, 14 CC
Sioux Falls - 3 DU, 8 MN, 11 Omaha, 15 RIT
Springfield - 4 MSU, 7 Q, 12 Western, 13 UMass
Brutal. You either have to ship the #2 seed out west or they face the hosts / conference rival UMass in the first round. Would the committee preserve a DU-CC matchup in the first round over giving BU the matchup with RIT? Committee probably hoping for Cornell over Q to avoid that problem.

I ran a combination that tied us with Nodak at #6. They have the RPI tiebreaker so it’s kind of a moot point. I had SLU beating Q then losing the next game (don’t think it matters to who). Chalk in Hockey East, Big 10, Atlantic and CCHA, Then I had UNO over Nodak, Denver over Cloud, then Denver over UNO.
I’ve ran about a million different combinations and got a million different results. This time of year is fun.
My take with assumptions of how I'd pick the games to go:
CCHA: BSU over MT
ECAC: QU over STL, Cornell over Dartmouth, QU over Cornell
HE: BC over UMass, Maine (the metrics massively favored Maine last time they played and this team is getting rolling) over BU; BC over Maine
AHA: RIT over AIC
B10: MSU over Mich
NCHC: Omaha over UND, Denver over SCSU, Denver over Omaha (of note, this Omaha UND game is HUGE in the PWR as an Omaha win will make them win the comp over UND which will knock them off the 1 line in almost all scenarios)
Field:
1 BC 2 BU 3 DU 4 MSU
5 QU 6 UND 7 Maine 8 MN
9 WI 10 MI 11 Omaha 12 WMU
13 UMass 14 CC 15 RIT 16 BSU
Regionals:
Start with hosts as needed
Providence
Springfield
4. UMass
Maryland Heights
Sioux Falls
3. Omaha
Place 1s while avoiding 1st round matchups and trying to prioritize travel as best as we can
Providence
1 BC
Springfield
1. MSU (has to travel further as the lower 1, and they're closer than DU)
4. UMass
Maryland Heights
1 BU
Sioux Falls
1. DU
3. Omaha
Add the 2s, again prioritizing not having them travel if we can, while preserving bracket integrity and add in our remaining 4s, protecting the highest 1 seeds as we can
Providence
1 BC
2 Maine (keeps them close to home
4 BSU (lowest 4 seed)
Springfield
1 MSU
2 QU (keeps the 4-5)
4. UMass
Maryland Heights
1 BU
2 UND
4 CC (BU is going to be upset with this, but could also see them putting NCHC squaring off 1st round as they have 5 teams, which voids things)
Sioux Falls
1 DU
2 MN (can't place UND here due to intra-conference matchup)
3. Omaha
4 RIT
Add in the remaining 3s
Providence
1 BC
2 Maine
3 MI (7-10 matchup)
4 BSU
Springfield
1 MSU
2 QU
3 WMU (5-12 matchup)
4 UMass
Maryland Heights
1 BU
2 UND
3 WI (keeps higher seeded WI closer to home and MI will travel to Providence)
4 CC
Sioux Falls
1 DU
2 MN
3 Omaha
4 RIT
Any tweaks that can improve attendance? Not really and I'm pretty happy with the gate as BC will draw to Providence (as will Maine and MI), QU and UMass will help Springfield, MD Heights has teams that historically travel really well across the board and Sioux Falls is loaded with close Western teams. I say let's keep it.
Providence
1 BC
2 Maine
3 MI
4 BSU
Springfield
1 MSU
2 QU
3 WMU
4 UMass
Maryland Heights
1 BU
2 UND
3 WI
4 CC
Sioux Falls
1 DU
2 MN
3 Omaha
4 RIT

Not that it matters now, but had the Gophers beat UMi would they have had a shot at a Top 4 PWR?
Yes. They had a shot mathematically to get as high as 3rd overall, going into the weekend. As I recall, it was about 12% for the #4 and some fraction of 1% as #3Not that it matters now, but had the Gophers beat UMi would they have had a shot at a Top 4 PWR?

Then it's all the more maddening that if they truly are a program that doesn't care about the B1G tournament (not my belief but speculated here more than once), the 'unintended consequence' was losing a shot at a top seed.
Not surprised not seeing Snuggerud if you’re not looking through your maroon and gold tinted glasses.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Thought Brindley and Zeev Buium would make it
The amount of angst some fans are having about Snuggy not being on the list on a Facebook site is amazing. They think that since he was second in fan voting, he should be in the top 10. They don't realize that the voting is for fun and counts for a very small percentage to the final outcome.

If you’re looking at the same site I was it’s only the 2 main moderators complaining. And one is back pedaling now.

I'm guessing so. I get that most fans don't understand how the fan voting works in the big picture, but to be outraged because of this funny. It is like being mad at the USCHO polls every week. I love Snuggy, but he is not a top 10 player in the country, and may not be the most valuable on the Gophers this year.

lol
why would you give bc the 14 and BU the 16?
I understand not going 15/16 v 2/1, but, flip BSU and CC in that scenario... Give the #1 the lowest seed, then #2 the 14 seed.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
CC is a tough draw at #14. They can beat anybody.
Completely agreed. We've reached the point that the only true shocks winning the Saturday game a the X would be BSU/RIT (from that field). Anyone else that makes it has a chance. Yes, BC/BU/Whioux/Denver are at the top of the list, but none of the teams that are at-large picks would be a true surprise to win it all.CC is a tough draw at #14. They can beat anybody.
