Does anybody know which group of outcomes moves Quinnipiac ahead of us?
So next weekend in StPaul we have Denver vs CC and the fighting Whioux vs JAN, I pick Denver to win this match up
Aloha!
Likewise. Just need it to not be Whioux. So next weekend in StPaul we have Denver vs CC and the fighting Whioux vs JAN, I pick Denver to win this match up
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
If I did this correctly (key word IF), Quinnipiac jumps us to #1 if they win both games this weekend and the Gophers lose.
Here is the scenario I ran with the Gophers losing and all the other conference favorites winning:
I haven't gone too deep down the predictor rabbit hole, but I tried both all the favorites other than the Gophers winning, and all the favorites except QU losing, and from what I can see, it doesn't appear to matter what happens in any other conference, it all comes down to:If I did this correctly (key word IF), Quinnipiac jumps us to #1 if they win both games this weekend and the Gophers lose.

At my first run-through, it looks like only Denver, OSU, PSU are locked into their 3/8/9 positions.

Regardless of seed....
Just.
Win.

I'm surprised--It's hard to believe that the Gophers would drop from RPI of 6071 to 6014 playing Michigan..?
It is possible for the Gophers to finish #1 overall even if they lose to Michigan and Quinnipiac wins the ECAC playoffs if Quinnipiac beats Cornell (rather than Harvard) in the championship game and St. Cloud wins the NCHC playoffs (especially if they beat Denver in the championship game).

Overall, I'd just prefer the Gophers win on Saturday, and make it easy for everyone.

I'd like to see them run the table. They are good enough to go on a 6-game tear. One in the bag, 5 to go.

I did have questions yesterday morning when a game between 2 independents near the bottom seemed to lock not just one #1 seed in place, but all 4.
Sadly doesn't change anything for MSU or ND, so the 4 of us that are in now are all there's going to be.

So if we lose and QU and Nodak win out we get North Dakota in Fargo
Possibly.
If the Gophers end up as the #2 overall the possibility of them play Alaska, Merrimack, U Mass-Lowell, Providence, Northern Michigan or Colorado College go up along with North Dakota.
As someone that can't attend either way I don't care. Just beat Michigan. ?
Honestly I was hoping my wife was going to agree on a later trip to Thailand. Because if she agreed to push it back I was very seriously considering a trip to Tampa. Alas I'll have to try and watch while in Myanmar since that's a side trip for us during this vacation

if und makes it, going to be a real kick in the junk playing them essentially at home while they’re peaking. Be a rough game for whoever of MN QU or MI draws that one. That being said, I think they drop one of the next 2. Been too inconsistent all year

North Dakota is +450 (4.5 to 1) to win their conference tournament on Draftkings Sportsbook. Thinking of placing a bet to hedge emotionally lol.
+450? Hell, I'd prob take that (as you said, pretty much win/win in that scenario as a MN bettor).
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I'd drop a $20 on UND. Prob $5 on CC (for the hell of it).

flip the odds between St Cloud and UND and this is accurate.
St Cloud is no good since they lost their big defenseman.
Nodak will be in the championship.
I do love a good reverse jinx attempt
To anyone betting on UND.

Win/win... I still have a tough time putting money on UND (as well as wisconSIN & Iowa). I even have a tough time placing money on the Gophers. I've done it and I'll do it. Just I want to enjoy the game and not have to worry about the sportsbook. Though, I have no problem placing money on the Twins, Vikings and Wild.
Keep your stick on the ice...
The Fning Whioux have a punchers chance of winning the Conf Tourney & making the NCAA tournament, won’t be easy taking down SCSU & Denver, doubtful but you never know. Playing the Gophers in a 2nd round game in Fargo incredibly unlikely…but not impossible…flip the odds between St Cloud and UND and this is accurate.

Not sure where you're coming up with a possible 2nd round match-up between Minnesota and UND. The Gophers are locked into a #1 seed, and IF the Flickertail makes the tournament, it will be as a #4 seed, so any meeting between the two in Fargo would be in the first round.

Portillo was going to get it, but he moved and knocked his name off the list.

I mean what was his record against the other candidates?
If the MSU turnaround continues next year (this could still be a fluke) then maybe their guy deserves it.
Cooley and Snuggy were not unanimous choices for the All-Fr team? A minor complaint mind you.

MSU fell off a cliff, starting that weekend Minnesota swept them in their own rink. There was a lot of buzz before that weekend that they could be Big10 title contender. Um...no...not even close.
In fact, MSU played themselves out of NCAA contention since that sweep. No coach should be rewarded for that.
Coach Nightingale's deer-in-the headlights facial expression still lingers in my memory. Every time the Gophers hammered home another goal, he'd reach for that water bottle. There must have been vodka in it.
@bearpaw28 actually no. The NCAA says the 1 seed must play the 16 seed, that will be the AHA team. NoDak would be a higher 4 seed and have to be in their own region. The Gophers would move to another region and play whoever wins the AHA.
Not that it’s likely to happen, but what would they do if 1 and 16 were the same conference?@bearpaw28 actually no. The NCAA says the 1 seed must play the 16 seed, that will be the AHA team. They don't have to put #1 seed against #16 seed so if they are from the same conference they would be separated to avoid a first round conference match up.
The 1 v 16 is what the NCAA tries to do as part of it's effort to protect the #1 overall seed as best they can, but they would set that aside if they have to to avoid a 1st round intra-conference match.

I've never thought to look but only 2 seniors and juniors each to this untrained eye is interesting. Perhaps it's not that unusual due to early departures.
Didn’t realize Logan Cooley could be added in post after not being “nominated” by Bob. Go Logan! Go Matthew! I love how Jimmy could very easily end up leading that line in goals and points and still not be up for Hobey. I guess they gotta spread the wealth.

Went ahead and bought tickets to the NCHC thing on Friday. What can I say I’m a college hockey nut job. Tis the season.
