That was my point too. I couldn't care less what anyone predicted would happen to CM after he left. I myself wasn't happy he left and thought he made the move too early. But CM wasn't the first and won't be the last so let it go.

ffs this additional argument is even more petty than I thought - that someone would rather see a player (who by all rights seems like a decent kid) fail just so they can claim their prediction was right?

Whatever.

You are siding with a guy that regularly personally attacks fellow GPLers, but hey, ok, I'm the bad guy. LoL

We’ll he did play for juggernaut UICC in the 1970’s. I was in Wessman arena as a PeeWee when UICC got beat by the UW-Superior Yellowjackets. :biggrin2: I guess that makes him a supreme hockey expert regarding players who just turned 21

I played in the CCHA many years after that, but it doesn't make me an expert, true. Personal attacks do seem to work for you though, so flame on. :dup:

LOL..”regularly personally attack” I tease you about UICC because they did lose to a DIII team. But in reality UWS was exceptionally good in the 1970’s with plenty of top Canadian players, many of whom befriended us as PeeWees & Bantams & played golf with us at Nemadji GC. I also congratulated you when the Blues won the Cup last June...guess you forgot about that ? Grow some thicker skin dude...

I think Casey is a little overwhelmed right now. He looks defeated in that interview.

He went into the NHL as a very young and underdeveloped player, he has no nasty in his game at all, he's not a chippy guy who gets under the skin of his opponent....he's a skill guy and a shifty skater without the other attributes of a good NHL player.

I think he has a chance to come back and be a good NHL player, but he really needs to add some of these other assets to his game.

Justin Holl was just on NHL Now on NHL Network. EJ Hradek said he was a Mn kid from Edina. Justin corrected him and said Tonka Bay, and said kids from Edina are cake eaters. Mr. Green For someone who had a pretty uneventful career at the U ( other than .6) , he has turned out to be a solid pro. He is averaging about 17 minutes per game as of late, has 10 points and is a +9, which is tops on Toronto.

Holl would be the #1 D on this roster by a country mile. Happy for the success he's having in the NHL.

Pretty cool to see Holl grind it out in the minors and then basically be healthy scratched all last season with the Leafs and now get rewarded.

I was looking to see if Sheehy made the lineup for the Iowa Wild today, but he's not in there. Pretty solid first half with Allen though to lead the league in scoring. Sheehy has proven he can put up points when healthy. Might have to catch some more AHL games this year. He's one of those guys who can consistently be dangerous shooting the puck, although you wonder if he'll be like a Ryan Potulny.

Noticed Tufte was playing fourth line for Texas, tough start to his pro season with six assists and no goals in 29 games.

This is what makes sports great. A team player as a Gopher and obviously the talent and work ethic to make it to the NHL. Love to see another Gopher getting solid ice time at the highest level. Feel like the Gophers are nicely represented in the NHL on the Blue Line right now. Not that it matters but good to see the Maroon and Gold having success at the next level.

Ryan Lindgren with a hard hit to an Avs player. Kadri then steps in and takes him to the wood shed. Tough to tell where the point of contact was, but he has a hearing with player safety today. No penalty was called on the play for the hit. Also, he did not return after the fight, so he could be injured because of the fight.

I think Lindgren's hit was high, but I don't think he's a dirty player. I thought there was was supposed to be some honor. Avalanche penalty leader Kadri was throwing punches before Lindgren had his gloves off. How long would the fight have gone on if the linesmen hadn't stepped in? Kadri could have thrown half as many punches and made the same point. He should be having a hearing too.

That's a tough one, and I'm seeing both sides of it. It was mostly legal (a little high), but he didn't need to hit that hard on a player with his head down to make an effective play, which is to separate the player from the puck. If he lets up just a little, he still gets in a punishing hit and the job is done.

I remember the Scott Steven's hit on Eric Lindros - he was almost unconscious before he hit the ice. Some hard cores will say, "...well, keep your head up then...." or "...that's the way the game is played...." Others will tell you it's sharking. The league is wise to it, as is the NFL, and that's why we're seeing rules about vulnerable or unsuspecting players.

I'd say the players handled it the way they're accustomed, and Lindgren by now has figured out he's not playing for the U anymore. :)

We'll see if the league fines Lindgren, but I doubt they will. Whatever they decide will pretty much give you an idea about how they interpret the hit.

Is it that easy to ascertain that Lindgren in the moment (given the situation and his actual visibility of what's transpiring) needed to let up? Regardless I'm not sure the reaction was warranted. One of the reasons I prefer the college game is that such a hit would likely garner a strong response (right or wrong depending upon whose ox is being gored) without dropping gloves.

Not passing judgement either way, Ryan plays a hard nosed style, has since he joined the Gophers and dropped gloves with the Sioux Captain (as a freshman)☝️In today’s NHL, if you lower the boom, especially on a skilled player, you’re more than likely gonna have to drop the gloves (too).

Kind of a stretch here, but a cool story. Columbus Blue Jackets rookie goalie MATISS KIVLENIEKS in his 1st NHL game gets the win tonight vs Rangers. The Minnesota connection is that he played 1 year for the Minnesota Mullets. He then went on to play 1 year for Sioux City in USHL. He has to be the 1st player from the Mullets to play in the NHL.

He also committed to MSU-Mankato and then went the pro route the May before he was supposed to come in. His hometown is the the same as Teddy Blueger (Riga, Latvia). I'm not sure if there is any connection, but it seems likely. Him not coming is what cause MSU to bring in Connor LaCouvee that year and taking the starting job.

He's made $55M+ and will be $59M by the end of next season. By all accounts, he's an extremely smart guy. I would guess he's done well from a business standpoint as well.
