IR again for Bjugstad. Good guy that doesn't deserve injuries to impact his career as much as they are.
Still unclear if Wilcox will start today against Crosby and Co

Vasilevskiy playing again tonight for Tampa. With Tampa having the next few days off, would not surprise me if they sent Wilcox back down and recall Kristers Gudlevskis again. They wanted Gudlevskis to get in some work in because Vasilevskiy has played in all the games. Hope I'm wrong and Wilcox gets in at some point.

Ben Marshall scored his first AHL goal today.
5-2 Pittsburgh and Vas doesn't want to be in the game at all but still no Wilcox.
Tampa - pull your sieve!

Fox Sports Arizona did a piece on Goligoski and the State of Hockey. If you go the the twitter act, they have the video. I'm not smart enough to get that to post here..
[twitter=FOXSPORTSAZ:2qtm30ej]The State of Hockey? It's Minnesota. @ArizonaCoyotes @gollygoose33 explains.

Typical cake-eater.
Wasn't it Finley who had a quote about settling things at the next level when he and Wheeler had their little run-in?

Jim O'Brien called up by Colorado who needs all the help they can get

Especially since Ben Blood is also in the league (7th in PIM).
Travis Boyd with a goal early in the AHL All Star game

Boy Boyd is in a tough spot in Washington, kid is playing great but how do you crack that lineup! Great example of how had he not been drafted I'd be willing the bet he'd have gotten a look by now. On the bright side I have no doubt he'll get his chance at some point.
Yeah you have to think Boyd will get a shot eventually, in Washington or somewhere else. 93 points in 122 AHL games isn't a bad clip.
His progression was fun to watch that's for sure

38 points in 44 games is very impressive, still just 23 years old too.
Boyd will forever be one of my favorites. Probably came in a year too early but he did everything he was supposed to do and his senior season was great. Really hope he makes his NHL debut soon. He deserves it.

Never a bad time to revisit some of Finley's finer moments. :blackeye:

Nice goal by Holl for the Marlies

Don't think I saw it posted but wanted to throw in, Helgeson scored his first NHL goal on 2/04. Got in a scrap with Hartnell that game vs CBJ too I believe. Only needed an assist for the Gordie.
Nice story about Jake Guentzel and Phil Kessel.

Travis Boyd called up to the Capitals. Might just be for insurance at this point, but they play in Philly on Weds.

That's cool, Boyd was definitely one of my favorite recent Gophers. Hoping he makes it in the NHL eventually

I would be really surprised if he doesn't become an NHL regular sooner than later. I would guess he has a career very much like Haula. Not a star, but definitely an everyday player.
Hasn't Boyd been one of the highest scorers in the the AHL the last couple years?

He was top 10 among rookies last year and top 40 overall. This year he has been around the top 10 overall for most of the season.
AHL game with Wilcox playing against Holl on now on NHL network.
Update-- Holl assists on GW OT goal to beat Wilcox and the Crunch.

That's brutal. I would be willing to bet he had several friends/family scrambling to see his NHL debut. Now they get to hope to see him in the press box. Sorry for Travis and Co.

Wilcox traded to Florida. Vanek too.

What's amazing to me about that is he wasn't more offensive at the U (maybe because Reilly assumed that role). When they were both here, Skjei was the more NHL ready (great skater, big body, plays defense), but I'm surprised to see his point total at this level. He's having a break out year.
Jake Guentzel has 25 points in 34 NHL games. Playing on a line with Crosby helps but yikes, good to see him doing so well.
The NHL Twitter account an hour ago tweeted out a gif of a Rangers fan sporting a Gophers beanie and pointing to it when Brady Skjei skated by. Skjei skated back and flipped him a puck. :dup:
Blake Wheeler got his 500th point in the NHL the other night on an assist to Dustin Byfuglien. Blake is the 4th player from the 2004 draft to reach 500 points right behind Ovechkin, Malkin and Krejci.
A fantastic milestone for Blake. :good2:
