This is The GPL Podcast, part of the Pulltab Sports family.
0:15
Freddie, let's go to Cabela's.
0:19
So Eric, tell me, how do you think you did?
0:21
Five or six goals on about 10 shots.
0:24
All my career average.
0:26
We'll put this on the podcast.
0:28
I am, thank you.
0:29
I know.
0:31
Is that when I get to, say, pour another Old Fashioned?
0:34
I was told it's okay.
0:36
Oh, yes.
0:36
I tip this on the show.
0:37
Okay.
0:43
Triple, hey, Stomp to St.
0:45
Paul.
0:45
Let's go.
0:46
Stomp, there we go.
0:49
Now, here's Jupiter and Vego.
1:02
Good evening, and welcome to The GPL Podcast, episode number 281.
1:10
Well, it was a nice week off, Veegs.
1:12
I went up to Northern Wisconsin to try to do a little ice cave stuff near Bayfield.
1:17
Looks like you had a lot of fun team stuff for hockey, didn't you?
1:21
With the kids.
1:22
Yep.
1:23
More, more youth hockey stuff.
1:24
Kids are wrapping up their season this month.
1:27
So it's been a busy year.
1:28
A lot of fun, a lot of development and a lot of events.
1:33
I mean, you had the mayor's thing.
1:34
You had the wild thing.
1:36
Yeah.
1:36
A lot of cool stuff this year.
1:38
Yeah.
1:38
I've got to explain to my kids that things like this don't happen every single year.
1:42
I think my daughter is getting a little jealous of all his opportunities.
1:45
So hopefully in a couple of years, she'll have the same deal.
1:49
All right.
1:50
Well, we've got King here on the show tonight.
1:51
John King from Pulltab Sports.
1:54
Of course, he's making his yearly appearance.
1:56
So no need to wait.
1:57
Let's just bring him right in.
1:59
There he is.
2:00
King, how's it going, man?
2:02
Well, it's three to three.
2:03
The Scandinavians are on the move, folks.
2:05
I saw that the channel sounds like someone to tweet Sweden.
2:08
So Eric Snack, by the way.
2:10
Yeah, right there.
2:12
So let's go.
2:13
Let's let's have let's take hockey from Canada.
2:16
Let's go to St.
2:17
Louis.
2:17
Let's just have an out.
2:18
Yeah.
2:20
We already got Steve A.
2:22
Nice hoodie, boys.
2:24
They are nice.
2:25
The goal is better, though.
2:26
I know everyone's got the I want to buy a mile Jupiter.
2:31
I love this offense.
2:32
I mean, they're both.
2:33
I love this.
2:33
It's really nice.
2:35
It's really nice.
2:36
And remember, well, the white ones are still available.
2:39
Use GPL 15 and you can get 15 percent off.
2:43
Just saying they are good quality, aren't they?
2:46
They're very comfy, they're light and heavy at the same time.
2:49
If I can say, it's kind of strange.
2:51
Yeah, mine is almost like kind of like that rugby jersey fabric.
2:54
Yeah, yeah.
2:55
It's like a heavy duty.
2:56
It's not like quite like a sweatshirt, you know, type soft thing, but it's very nice, well constructed, good tackle twill.
3:02
Check out the home field stuff.
3:04
It's good.
3:05
Good deal.
3:07
King, Eric, you had mentioned on Twitter a couple of weeks ago during the Wisconsin series.
3:13
Minnesota got down early, down to nothing, came back to win and one comment that kind of stood out to me is like, you're like, this is one of the best crowds I've seen at Mariucci.
3:24
It was loud.
3:26
It is, the raw has been restored to Mariucci.
3:31
I had season tickets for quite a while and it was a Morgan there for a while.
3:36
So kudos to Coil and that gigantic student section.
3:42
It's electric in there.
3:43
I mean, if you go in there and it's sold out, it is so fun.
3:47
The Game Ops, the band, the Drew's popcorn, best popcorn in the world, by the way.
3:54
Yeah, the thing that was so weird was after the rouser, there would almost be like an echo, like a sonic boom.
4:02
There was like a second.
4:04
I just turned to my wife.
4:05
I was like, man, I mean, it is so fun and they're playing good.
4:10
So they are playing good, Veegs.
4:13
And you know, we thought we were thinking more along the lines of a split.
4:17
We probably didn't really see a sweep coming on because honestly the Badgers had been playing much better as of recently, as of recently.
4:26
And you know, Minnesota got down, but they didn't panic Veegs.
4:31
They didn't, we didn't see any of those snug rude, oh, frustration things.
4:35
They just stuck to their game, stuck to their game and took advantage in the third period of that first game.
4:42
Yeah, one of the things we asked Bob Otsuko after the weekend was, you know, how impressed was he that his team stuck to their game plan and didn't get frustrated?
4:52
And he said, I hate January, I love February.
4:55
I think it's, for the players, it's easier now, they see the end of the season in sight.
5:00
And so they're able to focus, they're able to be a little bit more resilient and stick to their game plan.
5:06
And that's what they did to wick against Wisconsin.
5:09
They finally got some chances, they capitalized and pulled out the six points, which was definitely surprising because it looked like Wisconsin was going to find their momentum there coming into that weekend, and now they've lost four in a row.
5:21
And their season is a little bit on the brink.
5:24
It's pretty much over for them, or isn't really because I mean...
5:28
There's a lot of teams right now that were in like the top 15 at the start of the year that are now in that kind of they have to win their conference tournament.
5:35
You know, you look at Wisconsin, they're a team in that situation.
5:39
You look at Cornell, they're in that situation.
5:42
You look at St.
5:42
Cloud, North Dakota, they're in that situation as well.
5:46
It's been quite the interesting season when you look at the polls at the start of the year versus what the pairwise is looking at right now.
5:53
And one thing we've talked about, Kinger, is that, you know, do we want Minnesota to finish in first place?
6:00
Because we can almost get the feeling, yes, they would love to finish, love to hang a banger, but kind of get that feeling from Bob, like, I want to play that weekend.
6:09
Technically, they run their, they rule their own destiny right now.
6:12
If they win the rest of their games, probably won't happen.
6:15
They would be the league champions.
6:17
What are your thoughts on that?
6:18
Well, I just want to get to St.
6:20
Louis, and so I want them to have an easier semi in the regional.
6:26
That's all I care about.
6:28
Not that there's any easy games in College Hockey, because I was just looking Princeton swept Ohio State at some point this year.
6:35
I don't even know what happened when that happened.
6:38
But yeah, it's nice to hang a banner, but that's not the banner we're after.
6:44
We want another star on the back of the jersey.
6:47
The fact that the University of Minnesota only has five, that is just troubling.
6:53
So we got to finish the job in St.
6:55
Louis.
6:56
Should we be having stars on the jersey?
6:58
Would you like that idea, guys?
7:00
Well, we don't have enough of them.
7:02
I know, but I put anything on the jerseys like other schools do.
7:08
It's the only thing that matters.
7:10
So I like it.
7:11
Boston College has the same, my alma mater has the same amount of national championships.
7:17
They have the stars.
7:19
I think it's outstanding.
7:20
You win one and that star is there forever.
7:23
I'd like that, but I wish we had more.
7:26
Denver would have the whole shoulder.
7:30
They would.
7:30
Michigan would have plenty as well.
7:33
Well, I like when you get to the point where you have so many stars that you start having a gold star to equal five titles at a time.
7:40
That's the real way to do it right there.
7:42
You're just trying to bring the attention back to your gold hoodie being slightly better.
7:46
I love gold.
7:49
The gold are special.
7:50
That's like the Notre Dame green, man.
7:51
That's good stuff.
7:53
I just went with white because I've got so much gold stuff already.
7:58
Not much white.
8:01
The other thing I really liked out of the Wisconsin series though was how much better Minnesota was in the faceoff circle.
8:07
It's been such a talking point about how bad they've been.
8:10
I think going into the series, Wisconsin was fifth in the country in faceoff percentage and the Gophers were fiftieth.
8:18
So it was quite the disparity.
8:20
Minnesota did pretty well on the weekend, especially I noticed on the penalty kill.
8:25
That's been an Achilles heel for the Gophers this year.
8:27
It's losing draws on the PK and then quick offense coming out of those losses.
8:34
One thing I looked at, Josh Kreitzer once again hooked me up with some in-stat video of Gopher face-off situations.
8:42
I noticed right away Minnesota was much more aggressive on a loss draw, putting pressure and getting into their system in the D-zone than they'd been in the past.
8:52
The past is like, I didn't get the 50-50 puck.
8:56
I'm frustrated.
8:57
Now it's, okay, we lost.
8:59
Where do I need to go?
9:00
I got to fight to get there and take away shooting lanes and take away space.
9:03
They are much more deliberate with that.
9:05
And I think when they're that engaged, it allows them to get to more 50-50 pucks as well.
9:11
And so when we were talking about Moscow at Availability this week, talking to Connor Curve, talking to Ryan Chesley, they all just said our attention to detail and our engagement was much higher than it's been all season.
9:22
One thing, Veegs, I want to make sure we don't forget about is that Mr.
9:26
Souleye played both games.
9:29
We kind of wanted to see that.
9:32
Aerie was a little under the weather.
9:34
First, give me your thoughts on obviously he seems like he played pretty well that weekend.
9:40
Yeah, I thought Souleye looked really confident.
9:42
He is an aggressive goalie, is an athletic goalie.
9:46
He likes to get out and play the puck and he's just got so much experience and he did well both games.
9:52
I don't think the first two goals on Friday were necessarily his fault.
9:55
Those are just good goals that happened and he recovered and played well for the rest of the weekend.
10:01
It certainly feels like he might be getting his chance here to be a number one goalie.
10:05
Bob says, I never picked number ones.
10:07
They prove themselves throughout the year.
10:11
When you sweep Wisconsin at a key point in the year, I think you're putting yourself in the conversation to be the number one goalie going down the stretch.
10:20
And when I asked Bob, like, what are the strengths of the goalies?
10:23
You know, he led off with Souleir right away, talking about his puck handling, his experience, his poise.
10:29
And he almost forgot about his other goalie, Nathan Aerie.
10:33
And I had to prompt him with a second question.
10:35
He's like, oh, yeah, well, he's big.
10:36
He's calm.
10:37
Yeah, he's he's he's a good goaltender when he's on his game.
10:43
Thoughts about Souleir and Aerie, Kanger.
10:46
Yeah, I like Souleir.
10:48
He's got great hair.
10:50
He's got some good flow.
10:51
Yeah, it's fun to watch play.
10:53
He's got a little of that street hockey.
10:56
Get out of the net fan favorite.
10:59
Yeah, he's he's been jumping out to me all year, so I guess the other guy here must be more of a kind of a blue blood goalie or he's just younger or I don't know what the thinking is.
11:11
They're both obviously good goalies.
11:12
The team's had a great year, but there's something about Sully Air that just seems like fun.
11:18
Like let's say you're going to be in the foxhole.
11:21
I don't know why not with the cagey old vet throwing water on his head in the net.
11:28
Yeah, I like him.
11:30
He would be my choice.
11:32
Veegs, Eric is just a different personality.
11:35
Those two seem to get along really great, really support each other, just a different personality.
11:41
Yeah, I mean, he's younger.
11:42
He's not as experienced as Selyer and probably just not as comfortable yet.
11:47
I think the plan this year was to basically get him up to speed.
11:52
Last year was kind of a lost season for him with the lower body injury and not be able to play.
11:57
So they had to bring in some competition this year.
12:00
Yeah.
12:02
He's looked good at times.
12:03
He's only lost, what, two, three games the whole season.
12:06
So he's played well.
12:07
It's just you get to this point of the year, you do kind of want to get a number one goalie in between the pipes.
12:14
Sulear just feels like a bunkhouse guy, right?
12:17
Like he's the in the Yellowstone University, be in the bunkhouse.
12:21
And I think when you want to stretch drive, this is the time now.
12:25
So I think, I don't know, I think the guys would rally around them.
12:31
Moscow give you any inclination?
12:32
Are they going to go with two goalies this weekend?
12:35
I think one, he's not going to give you anything, did he?
12:37
Yeah, Randy Johnson asked him, he's like, Randy, we don't make those decisions on Tuesday.
12:42
And it's like, well, that's why you have availability on Tuesday and you decide on Wednesday, you know, so I'm sure the players know by now.
12:51
They probably do.
12:52
They probably do.
12:54
Kinger, you gave me a bunch of topics.
12:57
But one of them that actually wasn't on the list that we kind of talked about that you guys talked about last night, getting into the high school stuff seems like you both kind of are favoring.
13:07
Let's move to a three class tournament.
13:10
And it certainly seemed popular with your guests last night.
13:13
Yeah, and some of them coaches.
13:16
Very controversial topic because it's it is because it was it was it was it was a big deal when they went to to it just was well participation metal watering down.
13:28
But my thinking is I just love the tournament, right?
13:34
And so it is scary to change anything, right?
13:37
But to me, if you had a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and St.
13:44
Paul, it'd be Mardi Gras.
13:46
And if that makes the base of hockey in Minnesota bigger, the whole model of Minnesota is we make hockey players and it's community hockey.
13:58
It could be the savviest move we ever made, even though it might be terrifying at the start.
14:02
But I wouldn't want to be the one to push the button because I would never want to mess with the tournament and have somehow it didn't work and you wrecked hockey in Minnesota.
14:14
But it seems like it could really work.
14:17
There would be a carrot for so many more kids and so many more communities and football does it, all the other sports do it.
14:25
I think we could probably figure it out.
14:28
I think it's interesting.
14:29
That's a lot more hockey here too.
14:32
Exactly.
14:32
A lot more flow.
14:35
I mean, the single-a kids always have better hair than the double-a.
14:38
Can you imagine the real small town?
14:41
I mean, it would be like a Ted Talk of hockey here.
14:45
It would be amazing.
14:46
But I kind of get the feeling last night, Veegs, it's like there's just such a group of 15 to 20 teams that are just dominating now, not really giving the next 20 to 30, 40 teams much of a chance.
15:04
So, you got A and AA and then use a lot of those games, honestly, even in A when you get the tournament, some of them are just still blowouts.
15:13
But with the AA and the section tournament, you're getting some really lopsided results, something we didn't see 20, 30, 40 years ago.
15:23
So they're just trying to spread it out.
15:26
Well, I think you're seeing some of these top programs, the players are specializing so early that the discrepancy between the best and the less experienced teams is getting bigger.
15:39
Some of those games just aren't productive.
15:41
Those one eight games are not very good.
15:43
The two seven years are not very good.
15:45
I think Grizz from Holy Angels, in his section, it's basically like a mini state tournament to get into a state tournament.
15:53
Those games are great.
15:54
I remember in my 20s going with Grizz to the Bloomington Ice Garden or Braemar to watch those section semi games because those were just as good as the state tournament.
16:05
And then you get to the state tournament.
16:06
There's usually one game that's just not very competitive.
16:10
And so I think trying to get the best field for that first day of the big school tournament is the objective.
16:18
Change is hard, though.
16:19
So that's the biggest thing right there.
16:21
You'd have to have a lot of coaches kind of get on board, wouldn't you, Kanger?
16:24
Yeah, it's like changing the frame on the Mona Lisa, right?
16:27
Like, I wouldn't want to do it, but if I had to bet if it would be good for Minnesota Hockey, I think I would bet that it would be good.
16:36
And that's what I care about.
16:38
So, and there's a lot of smart people that agree with that, but it's a hot topic, man.
16:45
I mean, even if I was getting texts from my buddies, like basically, you big baby, you want to give everyone a ribbon, you know, while I'm live.
16:54
And these are guys I skate with, right?
16:55
So, but yeah, I don't know, grow the game is the whole point, right?
16:59
Keep more kids playing hockey longer.
17:03
Could be really genius.
17:06
Live shows are fun, aren't they?
17:07
They're a little crazy.
17:10
Oh, yeah.
17:12
I think it's good too.
17:13
There's always the fight over how many games high school teams should be playing.
17:17
And I think by having these three classes, you're going to have these better teams get three to six more games on their schedule.
17:24
That will be competitive and high stakes.
17:26
And it gives everybody something to play for.
17:29
If you're one of those kids at a school that's really struggling, how much work are you going to put in your hockey training and focus, knowing that even is 100 percent effort all year, you're still not going to have a chance in that game at the end of the year.
17:45
So hockey being such a long-term athlete development sport, more games, more time, the better.
17:52
The funny thing about the watered down thing too is, if you met some guy in his 20s and he said he won a state championship playing football in Hutchinson, or whatever the city was, your first instinct isn't going to be, oh, that didn't count or you're not good at football.
18:11
I don't know, I think there's just some powdered wigs that would need to get bounced around a little bit to make it happen.
18:18
It's an interesting topic and I haven't been following the high school scene much as much lately until, actually, until I started watching your live Tuesday night broadcast.
18:27
Was your last one of those, would you do about six of them this year?
18:30
Yeah, we were trying to do College Game Day meets Manning Cast for high school hockey.
18:36
We got the Manning Cast down.
18:39
That was really fun and weird and I'd love to see a pro team do it.
18:44
By the way, Gopher guests this year, Troy Riddle, was an absolute, if you go on the Pulltab Hockey YouTube and watch the first period, you'll laugh like you've never laughed.
18:57
I've never seen somebody come in like a Kool-Aid man to a live stream.
19:02
He was saying insightful things, he was crazy.
19:05
Did you know him, Vegoe or Jupiter back in the day?
19:08
I mean, I did not.
19:09
National champ, this guy is hilarious.
19:12
I would love to party with him.
19:15
And Hauser last night, I think he was having a good time as well.
19:20
It did seem like I did catch Hauser.
19:23
Those Roger's parents know where the parking lot is, I think.
19:30
You do what you got to do.
19:31
I mean, the funny thing is I love the Manning cast.
19:35
I love how they just, hey, we just BS about different topics, watch what's going on.
19:39
They pay more attention to the game, but I don't really care about that stuff.
19:43
I care more for banter.
19:45
I actually think it got a little stale this year when they kept bringing in Belichick like every episode.
19:50
I'm like, you didn't need to do that so much.
19:52
But I totally agree.
19:54
I can't watch Monday night unless it's Manning cast.
19:57
Probably it's attention deficit.
19:59
Really?
20:00
They didn't do it for the Vikings game.
20:01
I'm like, I was waiting for them and then they haven't done it for a Vikings game yet.
20:05
I'm like, please do it because it's more entertaining and you can still watch the game.
20:11
I think they did it for the last game, I guess the Lions because it wasn't Jared Allen on.
20:16
I think they skipped our game during the season.
20:20
I didn't see that one.
20:21
I watched the Jared Allen one because I really enjoyed that.
20:24
We got the background on the curling story from him about how he got chided into doing it to try to make the Olympics and that process.
20:34
It was fun.
20:35
The costume that he wore one day when he saw Peyton Manning and he was dressed up and was like Speedo because he was like Michael Phelps or something like that.
20:47
So Peyton Manning is like, what the heck are you doing wearing that?
20:52
Yeah, that's the hardest thing with the live stream is, a lot of people want to turn it into a podcast and get their words out.
21:00
You just have to chill.
21:02
Just hang out with us, watch the game just like you're in your living room, and that's when it gets good.
21:09
We did have, Riddle did that, some of the people did it, but it'll take a little time for us to figure it out.
21:15
I would love to do that for Gopher Hockey, but they would get you for copyright, for broadcasting, anything like that on TV, or on the Internet, or streaming, some kind of legalities and stuff.
21:28
Someday, Jub, Carol will figure it out for us, I bet.
21:31
Yeah, I'm a big copyright guy.
21:33
That's what I'm known for.
21:35
Now bringing it back to the Gophers, another kind of one of your topics, King, are you Ben Gordon and his gum chewing.
21:47
Tell us a little bit of your thoughts before we show your video.
21:50
Well, I'm a fan, and I want to enhance your fan experience.
21:55
My wife pointed this out to me.
21:56
We had good seats.
21:59
Mr.
21:59
Hankinson has some seats that are the best seats in Mariucci, by the way.
22:04
I've over leveraged any friendship I have with him to use those a couple of times.
22:08
But my wife said, you got to watch this coach chew gum.
22:13
I've never seen him like it.
22:15
His jaw muscles are as big as Lionel Richie's.
22:18
He is murdering his gum right now.
22:20
We got a little video here.
22:21
It's something worth watching.
22:23
It's something you should ask him at media availability.
22:26
Really?
22:27
Let's take a look here.
22:59
Biggest gum chewer of the Big Ten, you said.
23:01
He absolutely murders it.
23:04
I love the intensity.
23:06
He may sleep in a mouth guard, but as long as it helps the Gophers, I'm down for it.
23:11
What do you think the bites to bubble ratio is for Gordon?
23:14
Is it like 80 to one?
23:15
Well, that's what I, he does blow bubbles.
23:17
I do not think I got that on the video there.
23:21
Oh, it's like beeps, beats per minute.
23:22
I would say he's an EDM gum chewer.
23:26
I mean, he is nice.
23:27
He's Diplo on the Bubblicious.
23:31
I would love, this is going to make its way back to him and be the weirdest.
23:34
That's just fine.
23:37
What's your, yeah, what's your choose per minute?
23:39
It looked like 80.
23:41
Yeah.
23:42
It's solid.
23:44
We might've been losing two to nothing at that time to be fair.
23:47
So he might've been, he might slow it down as the game changes.
23:52
It does, it does go quite fast.
23:54
Yeah.
23:56
Just, wow.
23:58
I just couldn't have.
24:01
It's probably just more about just a just a mind thing to just kind of keep your mind moving or something like I don't, you know, just like, you know, you got baseball players chewing all seeds and stuff like that.
24:11
It's just something to kind of keep you going.
24:15
I mean, this is the kind of stuff most of your reporters bring each week, right?
24:19
You know, we were going deep on us.
24:21
We can probably just back out of it.
24:23
I don't know that there's any more we can talk about.
24:25
Oh, I know.
24:26
I think it's kind of funny.
24:28
And, you know, people probably notice it too.
24:29
And they will now go for it, man.
24:33
All right, man.
24:37
Before we go, we got to talk about some of our sponsors.
24:39
But, you know, kind of a big thing we're doing next week with your whole team, Kanger, is, you know, fiber to the fish house with Gateway Fiber.
24:49
This is going to be kind of a fun thing.
24:52
Yeah, let's hope it's let's hope it's warm.
24:55
I can do this one for you.
24:57
I'll give you a shift off Vego.
25:00
So old old buddy that married someone I worked with in advertising and he's at this internet company Gateway Fiber and they're moving into Minnesota.
25:09
They're in about six cities and they're going right at Xfinity.
25:15
High speeds, better service and he's like, let's do a stunt.
25:19
We're going to literally bring fiber optic cable to a fish house on Fish Lake and Maple Grove, turn it into an event next Thursday.
25:29
If you work anywhere near Maple Grove, come on down 11 o'clock to 2 will be the sweet spot.
25:38
Red Savoy Pizza, the Hobie Baker winner's son, Brendan Bonnen is a very good musician.
25:44
If you like Zach Bryan and all that new country, we have Misfit Coffee and it's all free.
25:51
The food and the drink are free.
25:53
They'll give you swag and tumblers.
25:55
There's a wild ticket giveaway, there's a fishing expedition giveaway.
25:59
Then later in the day, we're going to run three pods out of there, including the greatest Gopher Hockey pod from 4-5 GPL, which will mess up your ritual listeners, but that's okay.
26:11
We're all participating.
26:13
But yeah, check it out.
26:14
Play hooky, take a long lunch, come say hi.
26:18
It'll be a good time.
26:20
It definitely will.
26:21
I'm really actually looking forward to it, King, or it's going to be something different for us too.
26:26
Yeah, thanks for doing it.
26:27
I promise I'll bring you some weird stuff.
26:29
This will qualify.
26:31
Definitely, definitely.
26:32
So we're going to be in a fish house.
26:34
Yeah, nice one though.
26:35
Yeah.
26:36
Like this is like glamping.
26:38
I mean, this is nice.
26:40
This is not a bucket and a hole.
26:44
This is fancy.
26:45
It'll be just as nice as you're doing right now.
26:49
Well, I'm looking forward to it.
26:51
I like taking part of the day off too and coming up there.
26:55
And prepping for the weekend.
26:57
We'll have Cappy on too, so that'll be fun as well.
27:01
Like I said, it will be a different show.
27:02
We're not going to really have some overtime because he's got Vikings verified from 2 p.m.
27:07
to 3 p.m., our show from 4 to 5.
27:09
And then Crunch wears no pants from 5 to 6 p.m.
27:13
So a full slot of football, hockey and basketball.
27:17
I love it.
27:20
But otherwise, we also have got lunch bucket hockey, which we know King or you love.
27:25
But Veegs, tell us about lunch bucket.
27:28
Yeah, lunch bucket for those grit and grind players that would do anything for their teammates.
27:33
This is the brand for you.
27:35
A couple Minnesotans used to play a little bit of Friday lunchtime hockey.
27:39
They figured out, hey, we need a brand for us.
27:42
And so they came up with lunch bucket hockey.
27:44
They do lots of custom jerseys.
27:46
Check out their Instagram page.
27:47
They've got lots of fun stuff.
27:49
I know Lakeville had some jerseys for their first responders night.
27:53
Jack Ramsey, when he went out to Vail to play, his lumberjacks got some lunch bucket hockey jerseys.
27:59
Really cool stuff.
28:00
So check them out at lunchbuckethockey.com today and get some grit and grind apparel for you.
28:07
I need to get me some of that gear, Biggs.
28:08
I love that logo.
28:10
It's just top notch.
28:12
Just love it.
28:14
Time for Vegoe's top 20.
28:17
Not a lot of change at the top.
28:18
Even though BC lost this week, they lost to a good BU team.
28:24
Their pairwise is so high right now, Veegs.
28:26
They're probably going to stay up there unless they collapse.
28:29
Yeah, it's almost a lock for BC to be the number one overall seed.
28:33
MSU probably sees that.
28:35
MSU is a little bit more variable because the Gophers have three series left.
28:42
Michigan Skates only got two.
28:43
Michigan State plays Penn State and Notre Dame, I believe, to finish out the year.
28:48
Kind of the bottom teams in the Big Ten.
28:50
So maybe it's easier.
28:52
They have been playing better now.
28:54
They've creeped in to 16 in the pairwise.
28:56
They've been better.
28:58
So no weeks off in the Big Ten as all the coaches know.
29:02
So it's pretty tight at those top three spots right now.
29:06
Western keeps rolling in the NCHC.
29:10
Denver has had some struggles.
29:12
I don't know if they're having trouble.
29:15
Bob says, he's so glad that January is over and they can turn to February.
29:19
Denver is still having a hard time turning the page.
29:22
They've got so much talent on that roster, as I think we've seen at times with Minnesota.
29:27
When they get to a Frozen Four that next year, they just wish they could spin the clock right to April again.
29:34
But you have to play the games.
29:36
They're still in a safe position here at 10 in the pairwise, but NCHC is not having a great year.
29:43
You look at the teams that are in good pairwise situation right now for NCHC, it's Denver and Western.
29:50
Arizona State is kind of in a dangerous spot there at 13.
29:55
And I don't think there's going to be any other NCHC teams that can get in that large bid at this point.
30:00
But you know, I see there we go, Penn State sneaking in your number 17 there, 16 in the pairwise, they're creeping up.
30:08
Like you said, they've been playing well and they swept the Badgers last weekend.
30:12
Yeah, Penn State has been playing better.
30:14
It's tough at the bottom of the pole, like 17, 18, 19, 20 teams last week, they all had big struggles.
30:20
Sacred Heart got swept by Army.
30:23
Augustana got swept by Minnesota State.
30:27
I heard that Augustana actually probably outplayed Minnesota State, but there's this player named Brett Pitlick, who seems to be able to capitalize on opportunities.
30:35
I recall him.
30:36
Yeah, I recall him.
30:38
32 points, by the way.
30:40
If you want updates, check out Alex Nicoletti and Dan Myers on X.
30:44
They will be hyping up Brett Pitlick for the rest of the season.
30:47
I still have noticed his game still has a lot of turnovers and not a lot of takeaways.
30:55
I did a little deep dive in some analytics, and it's kind of the same thing as last year.
31:00
So what you see is what you get with Brett, a lot of great individual skill, how he fits into a team game is still a challenge for him.
31:09
I just really wanted to touch quick on St.
31:12
Cloud State VEGs.
31:16
It can't be just goaltending and the loss of a goalie that just caused them to collapse so much in the last two months.
31:26
Well, I just don't know if they have the talent on the back end that we're used to see when St.
31:30
Cloud.
31:31
They've had a lot of great blue line cores over the years.
31:34
You look at their roster right now, there's not the kind of talent back there that they've had in the past.
31:39
I think that really impacts how they play because they do play that kind of defensive structure that has to rely on counterattacks with defensemen joining the rush, and I just don't think they have that right now on their roster.
31:53
Okay.
31:54
But there's Kinger's BC team at the top.
31:56
That's all he cares.
31:57
Why do you BC and Minnesota?
32:00
I watched the I love the Beanpot and my daughter lives out there.
32:04
That BU team with that goalie they brought up from Omaha.
32:07
Yes, that is going to be a problem, folks.
32:11
I was looking at his stats because he still has a Lancer's helmet and the Beanpot.
32:16
What is this about?
32:17
This is like a December 31st special.
32:20
I was like three and 12 on Omaha with a 915 safe percentage.
32:26
So he must have just been like put a smoke flare up, a helicopter came and he went to BU.
32:33
That is a nasty team to be very afraid of BU as well.
32:39
Ohio State too.
32:40
I mean, Rollins is an awesome coach.
32:43
I don't know what happened in that Princeton series, but ever since, it was early, he got their full attention and they are, that's going to be a, we got some fun stuff down the stretch if we're going to see what we're made of.
32:57
You know, Michigan this week and Ohio State, Penn State, that is a great way to finish up if you're getting ready for the playoffs.
33:04
And really, you know, that's what Minnesota found out the hard way, didn't they?
33:06
I mean, I think that's one of the biggest things about the Gophers is that when they went to Ohio State, they got their butts kicked that first night.
33:12
Well, I think that was one of those weekends where the Gophers got bored.
33:17
You know, when you play teams like that, you're going to have a lot of shifts that end in essentially a draw.
33:22
You know, you have a three and out, and you got to punt and you got to get off the ice.
33:26
And I think when you get into games like that, if you're not mentally ready for it, it's challenging because then you start chasing offense, your shifts get too long.
33:36
You get tired and you get caught because you're just not competing and ready for attention to detail.
33:43
In that game, Gophers were getting beat to the net.
33:47
They're getting on the wrong side of their check.
33:49
And you can't do that against Ohio State.
33:52
They're too well coached.
33:53
They're a good skating team.
33:55
And they've got a lot of veterans.
33:56
They did well in the portal this year.
33:58
And the Buckeyes had probably been the surprise of College Hockey.
34:01
You know, they were picked to finish last in the Big Ten by the coaches.
34:05
And here they are, you know, in the top ten in the pairwise and really battling Michigan State and Minnesota for top spots of the Big Ten.
34:14
Steve Rollick, man.
34:17
He's great.
34:17
Overtime is that do you see that you're watching the game there?
34:20
Can you still go over time?
34:22
I'm trying not to have my.
34:24
Oh, it's over now.
34:26
Canada Mitch Marner.
34:28
I'll give you the goal call.
34:30
Four to three overtime.
34:31
Canadian tears will have to wait till Saturday night.
34:38
Let me tell you, though, I love this so much better than wasting time with an all star game.
34:43
That just is a joke.
34:45
This looks really good.
34:47
Yeah, it was very good tonight.
34:49
Started out a little razzle dazzle, but then it got physical in the second.
34:54
And I mean, this is going to be real best on best hockey.
34:58
I love it.
34:59
I just love it.
35:00
It's great hockey.
35:01
And like I said, it's not a joke, all star game that means nothing.
35:06
So, Kinger, you said getting to St.
35:08
Louis, and what would it mean overall winning it this year?
35:12
Yeah, I love that topic because, you know, it just seems like we've been slowly building, slowly building.
35:18
There you go right there.
35:20
That's what happens if we get to St.
35:22
Louis.
35:22
You're seeing double?
35:24
We turn the arch.
35:25
I would be seeing double, but we also turn the arch into the M.
35:29
Nice.
35:30
I think what it means is, so first of all, Bob hasn't won one.
35:36
Guy's a great coach.
35:38
He went through a horrible thing in his life.
35:42
He needs this.
35:43
He needs to get all the way to the top of the mountain.
35:45
He deserves to get to the top of the mountain.
35:48
Minnesota is long, long, long overdue.
35:51
It's funny, I was talking to my, this is my last thing I'll say on this, but I was talking to my daughter, and she said the last time Boston College won the Beanpot was 2016 when she was in high school, and she went there.
36:04
And I started to think, I don't think she's had any sports joy in her entire life.
36:11
When the Gophers wanted an 0-2 and 0-3, she was two, you know, like three years old or four years old.
36:18
Yeah, my daughter was two, yep.
36:20
She didn't get the twins.
36:22
So, I mean, we got to get all the way up on something.
36:27
I know the P-Dub won and the links and stuff, but we need to go for championship or wild, or Minnesota needs to win something.
36:36
It's going to change our psyche.
36:38
Why not St.
36:38
Louis?
36:39
I think this is Bob's dream team.
36:41
I wanted to ask you, Vegoe, my sense knowing Matsuko is this is his favorite team he's ever had because it's not reliant on one line.
36:52
He's got the big defensemen.
36:54
The goalie thing's maybe a little wiggly for him, but he's got depth and you got Jimmy Clark and all these guys.
37:04
You got like 10 forwards.
37:07
Sam Renzell is an unbelievable defenseman in the mold of the glory days of Minnesota.
37:13
And I just think Bob, like this is what he's always wanted.
37:19
So why not have this team win it for him and for us, but and my kids.
37:26
Well, I just feel like with this team, there's not a lot of question marks in the players.
37:31
There's so many guys returning who are in pretty solidified roles that they have experience in.
37:38
It's almost like an easy team to coach because you're not having to instruct all the time and deal with patience with players.
37:48
What you see is what you get.
37:50
And he's often said, I don't want any surprises.
37:53
I don't want good surprises.
37:54
I don't want bad surprises.
37:56
I just want this team to be.
37:58
And they've dealt with injury in the first half.
38:01
They've dealt with illness here in the second half.
38:04
And I think he's just hoping that they're in a good spot now to finish out the season and get in the games that really matter because this team is pretty consistent.
38:14
I don't think they're as flashy as some of the teams in the past, but they are pretty deep and goals for whatever reason seem to come easily to this team.
38:24
They're among the nation leaders in goal scoring.
38:28
And it just comes from all kinds of different areas.
38:32
I mean, think of how many names, right?
38:33
You got Snuggie, Top Jimmy, number two in scoring, Kurt 19, Wood, we'll count Rhett Pitlick for our team too, 32 points.
38:42
But then you go, you go, think of that, you got Moore, Lamb, Zeamer, Hughlin, Jimmy Clark, Beckett Hendrickson.
38:50
I mean, Rinzell, do you get that sense though, that this is kind of the team he would want to recruit coming together?
38:59
It feels like a Matzko dream team, doesn't it?
39:03
Well, and it's an older group.
39:04
Yeah.
39:05
Nationally, they're still not that old.
39:08
They're still pretty young nationally.
39:10
But for a Gopher team, this is about as old as it gets because they've got guys who have come back for extra years.
39:17
They've got recruits who have delayed enrolling into college.
39:20
A lot of junior experience.
39:23
There aren't very many guys on this roster who just went from a high school or a U18 season to the program here.
39:30
So that's what he's been trying to do since he signed the dotted line with Mark Coyle.
39:37
We'll see what happens when we get to the end of the year.
39:40
Souleir looks like he's solidified the goal a little bit.
39:43
Palinikil has been a weakness for this team, but not when Souleir is in that.
39:48
So if they get that figured out, it could be a good finish for them.
39:51
And you look at somebody like Lamb, who really has one assist in the last large group of games, if he can get going again, that's even more balanced that we need, Biggs.
40:05
Well, I think one of the things with Lamb is the Gophers just haven't been getting very many power play chances in the last couple series.
40:12
For whatever reason, the Big Ten refs have let a lot of stuff go.
40:17
Yeah, yeah.
40:18
And the Gophers just aren't getting very, very power play chances.
40:21
They're not having many penalty kill chances either.
40:25
The Gophers are one of the least penalized teams in college hockey.
40:28
But other teams aren't getting calls to get to Minnesota.
40:31
So it's just kind of a free for all out there.
40:34
And the players have to figure out where the line is.
40:36
And I think we saw a little bit in the Wisconsin series, the Gophers saying, oh, they're not going to call anything.
40:40
We can be more aggressive too.
40:42
We don't have to be on the receiving end of everything.
40:45
We can dish a little bit more.
40:48
And one more thing that you've got to put out there before anyone else that I saw Veegs, Mr.
40:52
Hugelin and his wife had their baby on Sunday?
40:57
Sunday.
40:58
Little Evelyn was welcomed to the world for Maddie and Aaron.
41:03
Aaron is adjusting to dad life.
41:06
He's getting woken up throughout the night to take care of a little baby.
41:10
The baby girl came a little bit early.
41:12
The due date was in March, but timed it perfectly with the bye week.
41:18
So, he was able to spend more time with the trio.
41:23
And baby's healthy.
41:24
Everything's good.
41:25
So exciting times there.
41:27
It is very exciting time, you know, as I think he's, is he 23, 24?
41:32
He's older.
41:34
He's an older guy.
41:34
Yeah.
41:35
Because he had that long experience in the USHL with with injuries.
41:40
He kind of pushed everything out for him.
41:42
So he's a mature young man.
41:45
And he will be there this weekend?
41:48
That's expectation.
41:49
You know, he skated on Tuesday when availability was happening.
41:53
So he's happy to be on the ice.
41:56
Yeah.
41:56
And, you know, he's sticking around after practice ended, working on a few individual skills before going home.
42:02
So it was a good little escape for him for just a little bit.
42:07
Fun.
42:08
That's that's fun.
42:08
That's good.
42:09
You know, I mean, I wouldn't be offended either if he missed this weekend, because some things are just more important than hockey.
42:18
But if he can get it in his schedule, and like you said, it was great timing right in the middle of the bye week.
42:23
It turned out pretty well and give him a little extra energy for this weekend against Michigan.
42:29
So we probably good to get on the road too for a young dad.
42:33
Yeah, maybe.
42:35
Dads can't do anything the first year anyway.
42:38
He needs to play.
42:40
Yeah, I'm in the line of come on.
42:44
All right, base, we need to talk about Cub foods and we know you hang out there a lot.
42:50
What do you been chopping for lately at Cub foods?
42:53
Yeah.
42:54
Well, you know, we're trying to turn the page.
42:55
I got ready for my big Superbowl big game activities this past weekend, going to Cub foods, getting stocked up for that, getting my jimmies for my, my dressings and dips there.
43:07
Lots of good produce at Cub.
43:09
If you're looking for something for a party, Cub's always going to have you covered.
43:13
They've got great inventory.
43:14
They've got lots of local products and they're always on the shelf.
43:18
So check out Cub foods.
43:19
There's liquor stores now with a lot of Cub foods.
43:22
If you're looking for drinks for a party, wine, THC stuff, they got you covered or you can go to cub.com, order for pickup or delivery.
43:31
One of us, they sponsor the Pulltab Sports Studio.
43:34
They're on all the Gopher headsets.
43:37
Love them.
43:38
Definitely good stuff.
43:39
I love just going in there and getting some hot tenders, maybe mashed potatoes, put it in a container, bring it home.
43:45
Great stuff.
43:46
Great stuff.
43:46
And then of course, Jimmy's, you were just mentioning Jimmy's Vegas as a, as your dressing of choice for the Super Bowl.
43:53
Yeah.
43:53
Yeah.
43:53
I'm trying to eat a little healthier.
43:55
I'm trying to turn the page and I can focus a little bit more on my health.
43:58
And Jimmy's dill dip is just the go-to for me.
44:02
I get a bunch of veggies, cut them up, carrots, celery, bell peppers, tomatoes, and they just go great in the Jimmy's dip.
44:10
You know, it's one of the most popular condiments in the state.
44:14
So if you haven't tried it yet, find, find the dill dip.
44:17
It's my favorite thing right now.
44:19
When you have a party, everyone's going to love it.
44:22
Make sure it's on your table.
44:23
Jimmy's.
44:24
Don't you be messing with my dressing.
44:29
Yeah, I always love that big stuff.
44:34
I'm still more of a carmel dip guy, but it's not the season, but I still love it.
44:39
Wait till fall.
44:40
I know.
44:41
We have our favorites.
44:42
That's good.
44:44
I will tell you, carmel dip with some apples after the ODR is a must.
44:51
That's hot.
44:52
Because you warm up the carmel, you got the apples.
44:55
You know, it takes a while to make the hot cocoa.
44:58
Hot caramel and apples is a good way to go.
44:59
Nice.
45:02
Veegs, heading to Ann Arbor this weekend.
45:06
Michigan splits with Michigan State.
45:09
They had a great series.
45:10
I thought it was very entertaining.
45:12
Michigan, again, has got to be pissed because of how they performed here back in early December.
45:19
So they probably got a bit of revenge on their brain for this weekend.
45:24
Which couldn't play into the Gophers' hands.
45:26
You know, Norado's teams have been undisciplined.
45:30
We saw it in the second game against Michigan State, all the penalties.
45:34
We saw, you know, face mask penalty major called on one of their players.
45:40
It's been something that's come out.
45:42
When the Gophers have played Michigan in the Big Ten title games, Michigan has toned up the discipline.
45:49
They figured it out.
45:50
They've played a great game.
45:52
But sometimes when they have these regular season's games, they just lose their heads.
45:57
They play undisciplined.
45:58
They give up lots of rush chances.
46:00
They go to the box.
46:01
So we'll see what Michigan team we see coming into this weekend because the Wolverines, you know, I think they're 12 in the pair wise.
46:10
This is an important series for them.
46:12
They can decide whether or not they secure their spot in the post season or they put themselves on the bubble.
46:17
You know, losses in Minnesota probably won't hurt their pair wise very much, but a win would really help a ton.
46:25
We always seem to have you on right before Michigan.
46:28
You just hate them that much, don't you, Kanger?
46:30
Yeah, I don't like them.
46:31
I think the discipline comes from the coach too.
46:34
I mean, I just think he's a Rottweiler.
46:40
It's a pretty intense situation, I think, behind the bench.
46:45
Yeah, I'd love to end them, get them for a couple here.
46:49
But I do think it's going to be, you got the Children of Yost, it's a hard place to play.
46:55
They did not have Hage last time.
46:58
He's got 30 points.
46:59
He was injured in Minnesota.
47:02
He was trying to go, but he couldn't go.
47:04
That's a real nice player for them.
47:06
He was in a boot.
47:07
He was never going to go.
47:09
So that's a big ad.
47:10
I mean, and I think they have this one circled.
47:14
So if you want to watch some fun hockey, I'm going to be excited to see between Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan.
47:24
I mean, this is a litmus test for our Gophers and see what we're really made of here.
47:30
Now Veegs, Minnesota has been very successful under Bob Motzko at Yost.
47:36
I mean, very successful.
47:38
Better there than here.
47:42
Yeah, I think they like playing on the road there.
47:44
I think the Michigan players look forward to this weekend, high end talent against high end talent.
47:50
When the Big Ten Hockey Conference was formed, this is probably my favorite series that was created.
47:57
Because instead of having that Thanksgiving one off, now you get to play each other four times a season with points on the line.
48:05
And the styles of these two programs is just so entertaining to watch.
48:09
You know, we always talk about College Hockey being great because it's a game of mistakes.
48:14
These players have the freedom to make a few mistakes.
48:17
You know, they're pushing the edge and the envelope of what they're allowed to do all the time.
48:22
And if you don't think the players are excited to play in a game like this, you got to be kidding yourself.
48:27
Because this is one they circle on the calendar and then they want to impress.
48:31
There's going to be a lot of scouts in the building at Yost watching these players.
48:35
And it's a big time series.
48:37
King, Michigan's always been my favorite though, King.
48:41
Since Bonin was playing and they started the College Hockey Showcase.
48:45
Those were the best games.
48:47
You know, when they first started at the Civic Center and then they'd go to, they'd travel around.
48:51
I mean, it's been fun for decades for me.
48:54
It's always been my second family rivalry behind, you know, North Dakota for me, because Michigan has ended our season quite a few times in the nineties and national championship teams.
49:05
And they're a fun team to hate.
49:09
Yeah.
49:09
Marty Turkle was a problem.
49:12
I got Madison, North Dakota, Michigan.
49:16
Yeah.
49:16
Those are all teams that we don't like.
49:19
And it's good to have Hayden Hockey.
49:21
It really is.
49:21
I think it makes hockey better.
49:24
I don't like watching a game where everybody's buddies with each other.
49:28
And so that is a credit to the Michigan coach.
49:30
This guy, this is a gangster behind the bench.
49:35
You know, so this is going to be a street fight this weekend.
49:40
The one thing about this Michigan roster is I don't think they have the defensive talent that they've had maybe over the last decade.
49:48
You know, there isn't a Quinn Hughes type player on this roster.
49:52
And so I think that is one thing that holds them back a little bit.
49:56
They do have a couple of seniors and a grad player back there, I think.
50:00
But they're just not the high end guys that we're used to seeing.
50:03
So I think that's one piece where Minnesota can really put pressure on them.
50:08
And it seems like Minnesota has got to figure it out right now that that is a successful recipe right now is putting pucks deep, getting on the forecheck, taking away time and space and getting the ground game started.
50:21
I do think it's going to be much tougher weekend, Kinger, you know, blanking Michigan for a weekend, which hadn't happened in what was almost 100 years in their history.
50:33
They are going to be pissed and they're going to be fired up.
50:37
Yeah, but you know, what's in adding to that, that Michigan series, there was a lot of talk between the benches.
50:43
You might have been taking pictures down there.
50:45
Oh, yeah.
50:46
And the thing I like about our squad is I love having size on the back end.
50:51
You know, Rinzel is a big boy, Chesley, even Groob is a little truck out there.
50:56
I mean, it is, you know, Cal Thomas, that is a huge advantage.
51:02
So I, but I know they're just, they really got violated in Mariucci.
51:08
I think there is some permanent marks, whether it was the scoreboard or things that were said.
51:15
So I expect a feisty one.
51:21
And Rinzel, who was doing the little swimming motion at the end of the series.
51:26
Yeah, I was in the box during that period, and I did capture video, which is not going on the air or being publicized anywhere.
51:33
You are correct, Kanger.
51:35
It was very foul.
51:36
It was very raw, and it was very entertaining.
51:42
Yeah, it was raw and it was real.
51:45
It was real raw.
51:46
Well, remember the picture of Motsko on the bunker a couple years ago.
51:50
I mean, that could be their curse of the Bambino.
51:53
That was one of the...
51:55
They just put this horrible imitation photo of him right on the glass when he was coaching the whole time.
52:01
And I don't know, that took it too far.
52:03
Maybe that's what they're doing.
52:04
Was that the Humpty Dumpty one?
52:06
I think so, or Mr.
52:07
Potato Head.
52:07
I don't know what it was.
52:09
They used to get Lucia with that Chia pet head.
52:13
And you'd have to walk by it.
52:16
But they're...
52:17
They've got a great fan section there.
52:19
They just egg you on.
52:21
It's very entertaining.
52:24
So I mean, you can never knock them for their enthusiasm.
52:28
The Children of the OsseVeegs, they are on top of you.
52:31
And they just come up.
52:33
We've heard from Jack Ramsey.
52:35
I mean, just the stuff they come up with is...
52:37
They do their own research.
52:38
Oh, yeah.
52:39
Do their own research.
52:40
It's a deep dive.
52:41
I think they probably have an institute that comes to Minnesota, starts talking to ex-girlfriends and rivals from high school and gets the book on all the players.
52:51
Because Ramsey was like, I don't know how they find out some of this stuff, but it's deep and it's real.
52:58
Yeah.
52:58
They have an advanced team for sure.
53:00
Yeah.
53:01
So what happens this weekend, Veegs?
53:03
What are your thoughts and what are your predictions?
53:07
Well, I'm really interested to see how the weekend plays out with the officiating and the physicality.
53:13
Because it certainly does, one of our comments earlier was like, it's been prison rules in the Big Ten lately.
53:19
Yeah.
53:20
It has been.
53:21
That's something where I think the Gophers have been figuring out how to be a little bit more aggressive.
53:27
Evan Werner was the one who crosschecked Jimmy Stuggerd at the end of the game and started all that drama in Michigan, had their blow up here with with Sparty to end that weekend.
53:38
So I'm interested to see, you know, are they able to focus on the game or are some of these petty, you know, things on the side going to distract?
53:48
I think we saw the wild when they went and played Nashville.
53:50
You know, they had some of that distraction factor early in the game and it took, you know, the wild off their game.
53:56
You know, how does Minnesota handle that?
53:58
You know, I think the Gophers historically under Moscow, don't take very many appellates.
54:04
Bob always says that, you know, you take your revenge by putting up points.
54:09
You know, there's these games are too important for pairwise and seedings and conference stuff to have these petty rivalries.
54:16
So it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
54:18
But I like the way the Gophers played against Wisconsin.
54:22
It seems like everybody's healthy now for the Gophers.
54:27
I've heard a lot of guys talk about how sick Minnesota was the last couple of weekends.
54:33
And so they all seemed healthy.
54:34
I didn't hear any coughing on the ice at practice on Tuesday.
54:38
So that's a good sign for them.
54:41
How many points, Figs?
54:42
What do you think?
54:46
I'm back on at six points.
54:48
Oh, there we go.
54:50
Season sweep of the Badgers.
54:53
Oh, that would be excellent.
54:55
All right, Kanger, give us your thoughts on the weekend and your prediction.
55:01
Yeah, I don't think Michigan is that good, to be honest with you.
55:05
I think we get six.
55:07
I think it is a cage match.
55:12
Yeah, I really don't think they're that good.
55:16
Obviously, this forward coming back is a nice player, but I think we get them.
55:21
We get them good.
55:24
All right.
55:24
I think you have to like that Souleir is probably anointing himself as the starter with his play against Wisconsin.
55:30
I think that gives you a little bit more consistency and backbone in this team.
55:35
Go ahead.
55:36
Oh, I was going to say.
55:40
Sweep, sweep.
55:43
This is the beginning, guys.
55:45
This is the beginning of a challenging part of the year.
55:48
They're going to show us that they're getting ramped up for the Big Ten playoffs, for the NCAA tournament.
55:58
I don't mind if they finish second, but you know, if they finish first, embrace it.
56:03
Do your thing.
56:04
Just keep shoveling it through.
56:06
And I hope Michigan comes back here for a Big Ten championship.
56:10
Let's go.
56:10
Let's beat them here.
56:12
It's embarrassing here.
56:14
I've seen.
56:14
I would really like to see a rematch with Michigan State with the Gophers healthy and full strength at Mary G.
56:21
I think that would be great for Big Ten Network.
56:24
It'd be great for the Gophers.
56:25
It could be, you know, the number two overall seed and then NCAA tournament at stake in that kind of game.
56:31
That would be my kind of scenario.
56:33
I'd like to see.
56:34
Mine was more of the revenge factor.
56:36
But yes, Vigo coming in with logic.
56:39
Gosh, sorry.
56:41
What do you do?
56:42
What do you do?
56:44
Well, Kanger, we're excited for our live show next week.
56:48
That's gonna be, it's gonna be weird.
56:50
It's gonna be off the cuff.
56:52
It's gonna be, it's gonna be fun.
56:54
We love this live stuff.
56:55
We embrace it.
56:56
The one thing I would tell your fan base, which is big is, you know, it's gonna be like 12 degrees or something, right?
57:03
If you go to this event at noon, you're gonna be spoiled rotten.
57:08
You're gonna get merch.
57:09
You'll probably win the wild Red Wings tickets.
57:12
You have to be present to win.
57:14
You know, you'll hear some good music, meet the Bon and Boy, get free pizza.
57:19
You can probably take a pizza home with you, depending on how many people are there.
57:22
So I think it's a pretty nice little field trip if you're anywhere in the area.
57:26
It's right on the pavilion side.
57:28
There's parking right there will be on the ice.
57:31
The food trucks will be right there and let's have a day.
57:34
It's gonna be fun.
57:35
It's gonna be a fun experience.
57:38
And like I said, new internet company in town.
57:41
That's what we need.
57:43
So because I dump cable.
57:49
Just saying.
57:50
Fiber is where it's at.
57:51
Fiber is where it's at.
57:53
So when I'm back on, I love it, too.
57:54
And so maybe the people on the northern side of the cities will take you up on it.
58:00
Get this new gateway stuff going.
58:02
So I'm glad they're here.
58:05
It's going to be a fun thing to do for us.
58:07
So looking forward to it.
58:10
Kinger, thanks for coming on the show.
58:11
Are you ready for some overtime?
58:13
I am.
58:14
I'm in my cigar room here.
58:15
So I pour myself something.
58:18
And I'm going to have to go get some water myself.
58:21
I'm sick and I'm just thirsty.
58:24
Quick public service announcements for all Gopher fans.
58:27
There's a Gopher like emoji.
58:30
If you haven't used it before, you need to start using this as a Gopher fan.
58:34
It's the greatest.
58:35
You just go in.
58:35
I think it's a chart graphic.
58:39
It's on my most used, but if you kind of look here, you probably won't be able to see it.
58:43
But see that little thing that looks like an M.
58:46
It's on the third row, second from the top.
58:49
That is pro level fandom.
58:53
To always only send that Gopher emoji, that little, it's like a math chart that's gold and it looks like an M.
59:00
That's your hack as Gopher fans.
59:02
If you're not using that emoji and it's not in your top emojis, you got to look in the mirror.
59:09
There you go.
59:11
The Kinger has spoken.
59:13
As I look for it right now, I'm trying to put it on your name.
59:16
It's hard to find.
59:17
I'll find it.
59:18
I'll find it.
59:18
I'm going to add it to your name.
59:19
If you don't use it every Friday and Saturday, it's hard to find.
59:24
You know, maybe could you just pay a bunch of money and get a custom M1 VEGS?
59:29
No.
59:29
I think this works pretty well.
59:32
They can't.
59:35
But I don't know who came up with it, but I love it.
59:37
I started seeing it a few years ago and I'm like, that's just genius that somebody found that math chart that looks like a golden.
59:46
I'll find it.
59:47
I'll find it and I'll start using it more often myself because I do see it a lot on the used stuff, so that would be great.
59:54
Veegs, you got anything cooking?
59:57
I know you did some finance stuff and there was actually a finance article just the other day.
1:00:03
We should talk about that in overtime a little bit, but all your finance stuff is always great.
1:00:10
When you're next, you always get all the good stuff, man.
1:00:14
Stay tuned.
1:00:14
I've got three more weeks of youth hockey and then a little bit more stuff on GPL as we get to the end of the season.

1:00:22
Look at that, folks.
1:00:23
Look at that.
1:00:25

We're looking forward to it.
