Apparently trade is done, and KAT didn't know about it. His reaction on Tweeter:

Karl-Anthony Towns @KarlTowns · 26m …

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

The word from the Towns camp is this: “Stunned.” Nine years with the Wolves. Impeccable in the community. All-Star and All-NBA. Now a New York Knick.

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Not a fan of KAT at all but he’s a part of this team and a huge asset. You better be getting back draft picks to cover the Gobert trade. Randle and scrubs isn’t a trade. Bad look for ownership but they are way over the cap.

KAT will be better off in NYC in the long run. He's talented, but deep down I believe it was difficult (for his ego) deferring to ANT, who has potential to be top player in NBA down the road. If Randle can score down low & defend, Divini can score off the bench & bigger role for Naz, + guys they traded for (combined) about equal current KAT cap hit. Bottom line, KAT Is talented at shooting 3’s, but a bit SOFT taking it to the hoop & defending when games get physical & push comes to shove in the playoffs.

I keep hearing it’s a protected pick, but since I don’t watch NBA I have no idea what that means.

top 13 protected. Means it’s retained in that year if it falls within those picks. Then you get their pick the next year though it can be protected for a certain amount of years. Way to protect giving up a top pick

The problem is Randle was a - on defense and had a bad volume shooting year. I think they’re hoping he can give them another option and those efficiencies come up playing a 2nd/3rd role. He will be a deficiency in defensive box advanced stats unless something changes effort wise

so the Wolves will get the pick if it falls outside the top 13?  Lame

being in the second apron was almost the entirety of it I’d imagine added to adding financial and contract flexibility through Ants peak years

I don't pretend to follow it much but I do remember him and Rudy nor getting along as well.  And I know his whining annoyed some people.

Fiscally speaking he makes way too much as the #2 guy imho.

It appears it was top 13 protected in 2025, top 11 protected in 2026, and then reverts to a 2nd round pick in 2027.  I don't love that it can and has a good probability of becoming a round 2 pick.  I think there may be a 1st round protected option in 2027, I just don't remember, but if it becomes protected instead of rolling to 2028 it falls to the 2nd round pick.

The New York Liberty scored a basket with 3 minutes and 23 seconds left to go up 83-72 on the Minnesota Lynx but the Lynx ended regulation on a 12-1 run to send the game to OT tied at 84. The Lynx ended up winning 95-93.

A huge road win for the Lynx in game one of the best 5 championship series.

Game two is on Sunday on ABC at 2 pm.

The Lynx will have games 3 and 4 at home on Wednesday Oct 16th and Friday Oct 18th (if necessary).

That game was incredibly fun to watch. The Lynx got off to a very slow start and NY was making everything in the first quarter (IIRC at one point it was 30-14). The Lynx were down as much as 18 points with about 5 minutes left in the first half. They started making a push in last 5 minutes of the second quarter and cut the lead to 8 at halftime and 7 at the start of the 4th. New York started out the 4th quarter making everything again (I think at one point they got points on 5/6 or 6/7 possessions in the 4th). Then the Lynx found a second wind and the defense clamped down and shots started to drop. New York scored 3 points in the final 4+ minutes (and one was a FT with 0.8 seconds left to tie the game). During that time they had 5 turnovers - and it should have been 6 and probably not gone to OT as it appeared that off an inbound pass the Lynx player deflected the pass and it bounced off a Liberty foot before going out of bounds. The refs called it a jump ball and then called Courtney Williams on a jump ball violation and gave the ball back to NY and led to the game tying FT.

Fantastic resiliency from the Lynx. Hopefully they can get another one in NY!

Want to see a fish out of water?!?!?!

Happen to be channel surfing and came across Wolves/Lakers game just as LeBron and his kids checked in the game. LeBron’s kid had no business out there. Not a threat on the offensive end. And a major liability on the defensive end. The kid has no business in the NBA.

Yes, this is real. Sources tell ESPN: Full trade: - Lakers: Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, Markieff Morris - Mavericks: Anthony Davis, Max Christie, 2029 LAL 1st - Jazz: Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2025 Clippers 2nd, 2025 Mavericks 2nd

Keep hearing talking about a new stadium for the Wolves. I've heard Chaska, which has to be a far off rumor. Cause after the Pistons moved back form the suburbs to downtown Detroit, all NBA team stadiums are in a downtown location. The one I heard yesterday is between Hennipen and Nicollet the block where Fogo de Choa is. With the idea of Nicollet going to pedestrians only and the idea of having open containers makes an idea of more people open to come to downtown Mpls. My idea is... have the Wolves play of the 'X' for 2 years and build the new stadium where Target Center is now.

Property is real cheap downtown Mpls. right now. So a new stadium is an option.  The old Target tower 9 years ago sold for $200M now has the asking price of $6.5M.  This one the reasons my wife's company based out of Oakland is looking at buying in downtown Mpls and stop renting in the suburbs.

Keep your stick on the ice...

Right now all pro sports and U of M team arenas are on the light rail line (or close to it).

A SE suburb might make more sense once that new light rail line is open goes out that way.

I don't know if a pro team in the suburbs would work. They tried pushing the Vikings out and that got nowhere. If you had all the stadiums and arenas on one plot of land would would work, like it was originally in Bloomington. I know Philly has all 4 of their 4 major sports teams in the same plot of land, but that's close to downtown.

Though I think being on and real near the light rail line it key.

Keep your stick on the ice...

Rumor that Dallas also offered Doncic to the Wolves not sure if straight up for Ant. I would have done that. Say what you will about Luka but that dude is money…top 5 player in the league. Ant is good but not a top 5 player…yet. Also, only 2 years apart in age.

he’s also never played a full season and is notorious for not taking care of his body. Ants growth is actually very on par with Luka’s during his season for age (basketball reference is a great site to use for it). But it’s very very clear got way better basketball education and skills training than ant did growing up. The young talent in the league is pretty incredible right now and Luka would make sense if This was a win now roster with 3 and D guys plays rim runners, but they’ve really mismanaged things with the KAT trade and extending Rudy

The Timberwolves win at Denver in double overtime to sweep the season series 4 games to none. They've beaten the Nuggets 6 straight times going back to the playoffs last year.

The T-Wolves had to play the game without two of their better players Donte DeVincenzo (one of the players they received in the Towns trade) and Naz Reid. Rudy Gobert fouled out in regulation so they played both overtimes without him.

The Timberwolves had 21 offensive rebounds (6 by Gobert and 5 McDaniels) to Denver's 8 offensive rebounds.

Edwards 34 points

Randle 26 points

Alexander-Walker 26 points

Gobert 19 points

Watched just the 4th quarter. The refs were really trying hard to get the Lakers every gift to get back into it. I’m sure it’s only going to get worse for game 2. Can’t let LA go down 0-2 at home.

The T-Wolves take game 1 on the road beating the Lakers by 22 points (117-95). The Lakers won the 1st quarter 28-21. The Wolves won the 2nd quarter 38-20 to take a 11 point half time lead and then out scored the Lakers 58-47 in the second half for a total of 96-67 over the last three quarters.

The Wolves are now 7-2 on the road in the playoffs over the past two seasons and have beaten the Lakers 11 of last 16 times they played them.
