That penalty helped. Didn’t lose the down and had more room.

Jordan Addison has a question for Vikings fans who bitched about Kwesi drafting him due to the suit he wore on draft day.

How do you like me now?

You look good you play good. 😉 😀

Yeah and unlike most trick plays in the red zone I liked the call.  Very little risk, keeps the clock running and gives you a chance to still score.  I think the penalty was ticky tack but it definitely helped.

Just a hunch but I don’t think #20 is going to enjoy his time in the film room.

Last 4 games Darnold 11 TDs, 0 INTs

Kwesi, KOC, and Flores get life time contracts!!!!!! Only slightly joking. 😀

They have done an AMAZING job building this team.

They are likely going to have 13 win seasons in two of their first three years. The other season they were absolutely ravished by injuries.

11-2 , 6 game winning streak, +99 point differential while play in the toughest division

Detroit, Buffalo (who plays in the worse division - way easier divisional opponents), and Philadelphia are the only teams with better point differentials.

Between Jefferson & Addison (the way Addison has played recently) they are arguably the BEST 1-2 WR punch in the NFL.

You don't think that is the way pass defense is taught? Talk about being turned around and totally lost in coverage. 🤣

Obviously this is not played well by #20 but part of this is play design by KOC. This is a zone defense so #20 normally has help over the top but the play design allows Addison to occupy the safety.

Darnold now has a passer rating over 100 in 11 of 13 games.

Most previously in a Vikings season, 10.

It doesn't matter, that is not what they were doing.  They were doing the version that was linked in the tweet.  The House Party version is objectively different. (and better)

Sam isnt getting less than Baker Mayfield...but I dont see a 5 year deal coming.

He will get 3 or 4 years and somewhere between $30 and $40 per.

Total money could be similar, the yearly pay/contract is debatable. Sounds right.

The comorabkes being thrown around are he will get a Geno Smith or Baker Mayfield contract.

Baker is getting 100 mil / 3 years. Cap hits of 7 mil, 35, 45

How the cap will work out for Sam would depend on how the deal is structured.

The teams that really need QBs stink pretty bad. So will be interesting to see what he wants to do.

Who is the “best” team that needs a QB next year?

If thing don't go sideways over the next month I am thinking he will get something like 3 years, 90 million (60 million guaranteed)

Before this season

65 games played, 58 TD passes, 56 INTs

This season

13 games played, 28 TD passes, 10 INTs

Sam's future children and grand kids should send KOC and Kwesi (for bringing him here) thank you letters.

This isn't meant as a shot against Darnold he is clearly playing really well just that they have helped him earn many millions of dollars that his future children and grand kids will get to benefit from. They saw what he could do and put him in a position to success which he is clearly doing.

The Jets dumping A Rod and bringing back Darnold would be hilarious!!!!!! 🤣 I can definitely see them moving on from A Rod but bringing Darnold back is likely not in cards.

The teams who will be looking for QBs next season are the LV Raiders, NY Giants, Cleveland Browns, maybe the New Orleans Saints, maybe the Tennessee Titians, maybe Carolina Darnold was their starter for the first 6 games of the 2022 season and then they benched him, traded McCaffrey and went full tank mode to get the top pick and draft Bryce Young (out of Alabama).

It will be interested to see what Purdy signs for in San Francisco it sounds like they are planning to resign him this off season. Darnold backed him up last year.

@collegehockeyaddict This is a little over the top.

Of course it helps to be in the right system and part of a good healthy team. That was never up for debate.

But Sam is the one going out and balling just about every week. Those scrubs they threw out there last year looked like crap, the system couldn’t do anything for them, not even a little bit.

It could be just as easily stated that the Jets and Carolina are ruining or halting careers right now. Heck Baker found himself in Carolina just about the Same time Darnold was there and it was a disaster for him. And now he’s doing much better back to back years in Tampa.

Sam’s talents are on display every week, extremely poised in the pocket, even with pressure, incredible footwork and a cannon of an arm that allows him to sit tight in the pocket longer than any QB in the league. And he’s athletic enough to make plays with his feet when he has to.

@the-rube Vegas always needs a QB! Houston has Stroud. When looking at the standings most if not all 1st and 2nd place teams in every division have a QB secured that I don’t see them moving on from.

hou has stroud that they absolutely aren’t moving away from. Dallas can’t pay for shit. The problem is so many awful teams gave bad QBs mega deals that are long so idk what’s going to be left for Sam

@team2tank

I don't think we disagree as much as you think we might.

Darnold is clearly way better then Mullins, Dobbs and Hall which along with Jefferson playing this season are two big reasons for the way better performances/stats.

Playing for the Jets, Carolina, Giants, Pats have definitely hurt QBs careers in recent years.

Darnold, B Young, D Jones, M Jones would certainly have the chance to have more success here then they did with the teams that drafted them. Maybe not as much success as Darnold but who knows since they are all high 1st round draft picks whose career's were hurt by being put in bad situations.

My comments aren't meant as shade on Darnold when the Vikings signed him I liked the move even though a lot of fans were saying why sign him he is a bum. Before the draft I was saying I wouldn't trade up to take a QB just because Cousins left. I was cool with letting Darnold play.

When he threw three picks against the Jags 4 weeks ago and Vikings fans were saying midnight had struck on Cinderella I stuck up for him saying it was a bad game but he is having a good season overall.

I have posted the most pro Darnold messages in this thread during games even sticking up for him right after picks. I've been giving him shout outs almost every game this season because he deserves it.

everyone is benefiting. Darnold has turned this team into a possible contender when everyone wrote them off this year. It’s a two way street.

The Vikings are definitely a contender even though I think the Eagles and Lions are the two best teams in the NFC.

If the Bills do what they are capable of next week against the Lions there will definitely be questions about the Lions getting to the Super Bowl with all the injuries they have on defense. Their recovery and who ends up being available in the playoffs will likely determine their fate.

Darnold was spot on HOT today. No Viking QB since 2004 healthy Daunte has thrown 5 TD passes in one game. The blitz he avoided including a free rusher that turned into a walk in TD for JJ was an incredibly athletic play, so poignant to do it with Kirko Chains in the building…

Darnold’s massively exceeded expectations thru 13 games. Even if it’s a one year Viking thing, ya gotta feel good about his redemption story (for him personally). It must have sucked all those years when the so called talking head experts declared him a BUST…this season he’s shoved it back in their faces, that’s gotta be sweet!

SINCE the Bills lost THIS week, I expect them to win out. If they had won this week, I expected them to lose to the Motor City Kittys next week. I don't think seedings will be set until after the season is over, so forget about that Week 17 Sit The Starters.

That Week 17 MN-DET game...I'm drooling for that one. That should be some damn good football.

Being a person who loves math/stats I figured I would look up Darnold stats and then post them

This season he is

7th in passer rating

15th in QBR

5th in TD passes

10th in passing yards

11th in completion %

6th in yards per pass attempted

tied for 6th in most INTs (Cousins has thrown the most)

I'm not looking to say this means they should or should not resign him I was just curious about his numbers across the board and figured I would share them with others.

The thing that has impressed me the most about Darnold is how well he has played in the 4th quarter when games have been on the line. Sam Clutch Darnold

I still wonder how the Rams games could have ended if the face mask penalty would have been called. He certainly could have driven the team down for a TD/2 point conversion and got that game to OT.

How funny would it be if Darnold goes back to NY (either team) and sucks only to have Daniel Jones become a star in MN next season?

These appear to be the numbers prior to yesterday. He is now...

3rd in passer rating

15th QBR

3rd TD

6th passing yards

7th completion %

4th yads per pass thrown

6th most INT

18th INT per game (a little better to look at because many teams have used multiple QBs by this point)
