The defense needs work. The Vikes are not a high-powered offensive machine. They can score, sure, but it's not rapid fire like the Rams (basically) run-n-gun. IMO MN is more of a march down and score, average gain per down. Not 3 yards and a cloud of dust, but not a run-n-gun, either.

It seems like the offensive scheme right now is "Just do enough to try to get a win" instead of build a huge lead.
I also don't understand why they have basically ignored CJ Ham the last couple games as a lead blocker for Dalvin. Dalvin has been outstanding with Ham as a lead blocker. I know they like the 1 RB 3 WR personnel set a lot but it seems to be hurting Dalvin's productivity.
Second week in a row the Vikings are more lucky than good. It helps to play a team that is trying to hand it to you.
This week's edition included a backup quarterback of a team who apparently had about as many players wearing street clothes as pads. While it's fashionable to criticize the referees only after a loss, this time the Vikings and their fans are forced to swallow hard and admit the vagaries of questionable calls landed squarely in their favor. The chef's kiss to this snuffing out of a weakling opponent was a Saints' 61-yard field goal miss that was closer than Blair Walsh's 27-yard chip shot blunder against the Seahawks.
It would have been more Vikingsesque to watch that ball sail through the uprights...I mean, suffering a loss in a game where two 60-plus yarders are made back to back is as Minnesota as it gets.
First time in Kirk’s career he has a winning record after week 4.
I assume this is through 4 weeks. Because he definitely has had winning records in week 16-17 which is after week 4 ?
Correct, through 4 weeks.
I listened to the game yesterday on the radio while running a marathon. I used to be ok with Paul Allen calling games, but he was especially bad yesterday. The simple stuff he was consistently getting wrong. A gain of 8 on 1st and 10 resulted in a 2nd and 7. On multiple occasions he called out the wrong receiver who caught the ball. Even called the Saints the Detroit Saints and said once we were playing the Chicago Bears (and it was in no reference to playing them next week). He just got too excited to accurately describe the play. Thankfully I don’t plan on listening to him at all the rest of the year.

In his defense, the area they were in for the radio broadcast is abysmal for calling football games so seeing yardages accurately and player numbers is tough. I think he was a bit out of sorts yesterday because of it.

Paul Allen has turned into a real life cartoon. I had to listen to him for much of the 2nd half yesterday and he was so overly dramatic that I often couldn't tell which team was making a big play because he screamed with excitement for New Orleans plays just as much as he did for Vikings plays.
I wish he would go listen to some old Keith Jackson called games and take notes.

@bertogliat turn into? Always been. Like his radio brother at KQ, he's never going to grow up.

Nailed it. I’m surprised the Vikings don’t tell him to tone it down a little. It’s like he thinks he’s Michael Buffer.
Unfortunately, I think much of the demographic seems to like that.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
This is more like the offense I expected to see this season.
Scary start for the Vikes
I’m not watching, but have checked on the score here and there. Seems like a pretty traditional Vikings game.
Cousins regressing to the mean.
Bears defense hasn't allowed a 2nd half TD all season. KOC needs to figure out how to break that streak.
Vikings fly to 21 points then suddenly can’t get a first down.
Kirk, please do something here.
This Vikings game reminds me of this line from Let It Ride.

Kirk out there running for first downs and punching the ball in the endzone. Can't help but be reminded of a young mike vick

CAM DANTZLER!!!
He just came up and said "Gimme that!"

Such a weird decision to not hop out of bounds after getting the first down.
Tua still concussion protocol and questionable for Sunday. Vikings are -3.

Too bad the game isn’t here as Bridgewater will prolly start.
He probably will, but you know the NFL is keeping a CLOSE eye on MIA given the Tua thing. MIA may just say, "eh...holding out Teddy, because."
That being said, even with Teddy Time in there, MN should win.

Now reports are saying Teddy might have issues and not play either.....

If the Vikings squeak by Miami with a last minute drive, do we rejoice?

Skylar Thompson is the Dolphins 3rd string QB. Played college at Kansas St. Never heard of him. The line is still at -3. Though once the Dolphins injury report comes out tomorrow the line might make a major jump. So if you want to bet the farm on the Vikings, now is the time to do so before the line moves... lol!!!

@gator Except that the Vikings tend to play down to the competition and are particularly vulnerable to no-name quarterbacks.
Agree. And that’s why I’m saying get your money in now at -3 and not when goes to -6.5 or more.

I believe he got drafted this year, late rounder.

Teddy left the game against the Jets early after taking a hard fall and showing concussion symptoms IIRC. Thompson actually looked decent for the majority of his performance (given he was a rookie 7th rounder and 3rd string QB).
They were down by 2 in the 4th quarter before the Jets scored 2 touchdowns in like 13 seconds to blow it open (they scored a TD, Miami fumbled their first play of the ensuing drive and the Jets scored on their first play). Though I would expect with a full game (or almost a full game) of tape, the Vikings would be able to scheme some things for him that would benefit their defense.
Teddy left after the first play (maybe first drive?) I believe. Cleared concussion protocol, but the after-math person saw him stumble/mis-step and took him out. Given it was MIA, it COULD have over-cautious, but either way...

Even with Miami's turmoil at QB the public money is still coming in at 50/50 and the line is staying at -3. Wait tell to see if any if the whale money moves the line tomorrow or Sat. As now now I think you can put the Vikes as lock at -3 and the under at 45.5.
Keep your stick on the ice...
MIA is a decent team, with Teddy or Tua. They do not look good with this new kid. The Jets handled them rather easily. However, this IS in MIA, and MN is...MN.
That being said, I think MN wins by 6.5

Same. Cause if it was trivia question of were he worked I would have said ESPN and not CBS.

He predated ESPN.....and cable for that matter.

I wouldn't go as far as say predated. ESPN was founded in the later 70's and he was still predicting in the 80's.

IDK that I'd say they handled them rather easily. It was a 2pt game half way through the 4th quarter, and Miami actually missed a FG that would have given them the lead.
The Jets went down the field after the FG miss to score a TD and go ahead 26-17. Then Thompson was sacked and lost a fumble on the 6 yard line and the Jets scored on their first play after the fumble recovery to make it 33-17. The Dolphins then failed on a 4th down conversion and the Jets scored quickly after again to blow the game out.
Miami's defense is mostly pretty solid (the Ravens did rack up a ton of points and yards but the Ravens are also the Ravens) and the Vikings offense hasn't been as explosive as many would expect so I'm guessing the line is reflective of the idea that the Dolphins defense can keep the game close.
If Thompson can protect the ball I would guess the game will end up within 1 score. If he turns it over a couple times I'd guess the Vikings run away with it.

Yeah, but it’s not like he’s going to jump over to fledgling cable show at the end of his career.
Not everything has to be taken so literally. Yes he technically could have worked for ESPN but the bulk of his career predated cable.
