Glad i set my alarm at 530 am for this.
Mine is set for 5:30am for the foreseen future as I'm sch. at East Lake Street clinic lab. Biggest positive going to ELS is Raising Cane's shares the parking lot... lol!!! For the last couple weeks, I've only eaten their twice. Though I walk over almost daily for buy a couple slices of bread to go along with my leftovers lunch. Makes the leftovers all the better!!!
Keep your stick on the ice...
Would you rather be...
The #2 seed and host Green Bay, Seattle or Detroit?
The #3 seed and host NY Giants?
Keep your stick on the ice...
Chance to put away GB and shut Rodger's pie hole, stay alive for #1 seed, rivalry game blah blah - and they get blown off the field.
I admit I'm a cynic when it comes to this franchise. I've been scarred too many times. But geezus, they looked like a 3-win team out there with a lot to play for. That was a painful load of butt hurt they put their fans through today.
I stopped paying attention after the 1st quarter. I mean a missed FG, a tipped pick-6 and a 105-yard KO TD is a recipe for disaster if your team mentally shuts it down at that point.

I don’t know why Nantz and Romo were so focused in the two seed. You probably get GB or Detroit. The three seed gets a weaker Giants team. I don’t think the Vikings would win a second game anyways so don’t even worry about that.
The one seed was a lost cause before this game. Philly plays the Giants next week when the Giants cannot move up or down regardless of result. Philly should win that game easily and the Vikings would still be stuck at the two seed.
The difference is more noticeable in the 2nd round as the #2 seed will host if they advance.

Perfect storm:
GB fighting for the season
At Lambeau
Division rival
Payback for Week 1 embarrassment
And of course, it's a MN team. 😉

I knew it was going to be a long day when they got a blocked punt and took over on the 2 yard line and didn't move the ball an inch, followed by a 105 yard kickoff return touchdown where the it looked like the only person who laid a hand on him was Greg Joseph.

Starting RT Brian O'Neil is officially out for the year. Partially torn achilles.

Vikings have played well when ALL their starting OL is healthy. With O’Neil out for the year that’s ship sailed.

That’s also bad for next year, tough injury to fully recover from.
Well that sure stinks.

Depends on how partially torn it is. I had a partial tear in mine last year (late July/early August) and was cleared to resume full workouts without surgery in about 3 months - 6ish weeks in an air cast/walking boot with light PT and then 6 weeks of heavier PT. And I'd assume given the resources the Vikings have he'll be getting PT daily not weekly.

The NFL came up with even wilder options for the AFC playoffs. Depending on who wins or loses in week 18 the AFC Championship could be played at a neutral site. They also considered adding an 8th playoff team in both conferences so that no one gets a first round bye. Also home field for a CIN/BAL playoff matchup could be decided by a coin flip.
Vikings officially in "Win but don't get hurt" mode and Chicago is in "Don't win no matter what" mode.
Texans are winning. Judging from the play on the field here, the Bears are VERY aware of it.
We have entered the Nick Mullens era half.

Vikings 55 seconds away from not punting in that one.
Vikings win, but 49ers are stomping Arizona so the Vikings will get the 3 seed and host NYG.

Only way SF doesn’t stomp Arizona is if the Vikings lost, in my opinion.

It was a close game until the last drive of the half. AZ was moving the ball pretty well. In the second half AZ had 2 INTs, a lost fumble, a turnover on downs, and a punt.
Vikings host NYG 3:30 on Sunday.
Keep your stick on the ice...
Vikings open -3

Best meme I saw this week: Vikings will either win the SB, or they will lose the first playoff game by 40.
I can't argue with that.

I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Vikings @ Vegas!!!
Keep your stick on the ice...
This is really the only nice road game. When you consider they get the AFC west and the NFC south, they have home games against LA, New Orleans, Tampa, and San Francisco (warm weather/coastal destinations).Vikings @ Vegas!!!
The road games they get Atlanta and Philly, Denver, Cincinnati and Carolina....? I guess Atlanta should have pleasant weather. But Christ for those fans that like to travel, they don't get the warm weather destinations.
I would think KC would be a fun road game in that it is easily drivable and should have excellent tailgating. But would only be a good spot for the game only and not for a mini vacation.
I would put Denver up there as well. Just for the surrounding area would be worth it.

I did the Denver road trip for Gopher hockey and it was a blast. We went snowmobiles and rode them through the mountains. It was great. And they have a small town of casinos nearby and plenty of microbrews.I would put Denver up there as well. Just for the surrounding area would be worth it.
There just seems to be a fairly large contingent of people who like those warm weather cities for Vikings road trips, and considering the divisions the Vikings play, they seemed to get the shaft next season.
I could REALLY use a trip to Vegas, but I don't think I can afford it. I prefer a larger bank roll in that city and it isn't there lately, at least until after the kids are done with hockey.
This is an excellent read. I have been really impressed with O'Connell's leadership and how well the team has responded to it. There is a fine line between being a coach/boss/leader and a friend but for those who find the sweet spot the respect and commitment they get from players is immeasurable.

Chris Hawkey I think summed it up best when he said the team rallies behind Cousins because they have a coach now who lets them rally behind him. I liked Zim but he was not kind to QBs or kickers. When things are going well that style can work very well, but when the fit hits the shan it can snowball badly very quickly.

I don't disagree with any of this.
However, we are evaluating Zimmer at his low and O'Connell at a high. This league has a way of chewing you up and spitting you out real quickly. Hopefully O'Connell is the real deal he certainly has the charisma. But this team needs to still get a lot better on D and more efficient on O. The trends the Vikes are riding right now don't carry over year to year, winning close games, turnovers, point differential, ect.
Which is why I said it the way I did. O'Connell is in his honeymoon period and Zim had been around forever. There was way more pressure on Zim the last few years than on KOC this year.
I think there is something to be said though for old school coaches having issues with younger QBs. Zim obviously connected with Teddy but beyond that he always seemed about one bad pass away from firing anyone else under center. He was a defense guy so all he wanted was his QBs not to cost him the game. Same with Special Teams. Ask Daniel Carlson. (a move I agreed with and still defend but man in hindsight it does not look great) Since he is temperamental on his best days it can be seen as abrasive and downright mean. Some younger players can deal with that, others can't. (I am guessing Belicheck is having similar issues)
I have no idea if KOC is the real deal, it could all be a fluke we see it all the time. For now though, the team seems happier playing for him than they did for Zim because KOC goes out of his way not to murder you if you make a mistake. I think Zim just never knew how to balance it and for now it seems KOC does. I hope it continues because I like what I am seeing in year one.

They are who we thought they were! The Vikings in the pre-season were +950 to win the NFC conferenceAfter winning 13 games and the division title, they are now at +1350
I have zero expectations for this game. The Vikings have proven to be somewhat of an enigma, but 13-4 is awfully difficult to impugn. If the O-line and D-line can perform, they should prevail. I would love to see them get a shot at the unstoppable whirlwind that the 49ers have become.
3:30 game starts at 3:50 WTF
It’s The Rube’s fault.

What a fantastic opening drive.
Edit: JJ's TD may be called back and down on the half yardline.
And....maybe a TD.
But probably just short.

Our DC is just completely overmatched...he won't survive the offseason.
Giants didn't give their D much rest there.
