The Vikings are still in solid position to be the #2 seed in the NFC. The next few weeks will tell us a lot about who they are as a team.
"If" they would have won yesterday, I would agree. I think this Thursday vs. New England and two Sundays later vs. NY Jets is key. Go 2-0 and I would think I'll feel more comfortable. Having Dallas and Philly in the East together helps... big. The one good sign is the Vikings pretty much have the North wrapped up unless all hell breaks loose. And that would give the Vikings a home playoff game.
Keep your stick on the ice...

Heck keep the game within 1 possession at home would have quelled a lot of fears. I'm as optimistic as they get but this team RIGHT NOW is not built for winning the NFCCG.
Capitalizing HUGE on the tweet is pretty great.
10-10 halfway through the 2nd quarter. First drive for the Vikes was perfect. First drive for the Pats was easy as hell. Cousins threw a pick on a ball where the refs missed an illegal contact and defensive holding (both against KJ Osborne, the intended receiver). Pats turned the long return into a FG.
JJ is just an incredible WR
This weeks update: Jospeh still sucks
Vikings have 235ish yards in the first half tonight. The Patriots defense allowed 224 yards COMBINED their last two games.
Kirk throws a go-ahead TD to TJ but Joseph misses the extra point. 16-13.
This weeks update: Jospeh still sucks
He's perfect inside of 50 yards (15/15 IIRC) but has now missed 5 extra points.
We are getting zero pressure on Jones
Bold prediction based on nothing:
MN 23-16, then MN 23-19, then MN 23-27 (2pt) then MN 30-27 final.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
And now this drive might throw those predictions out of order...lol

Every single throw Jones makes is to a WR open by 10 yards
Kene housed a 97 yard FG and the Pats march down and score another TD. Under review but I think it should stand. The side angle doesn't show clear evidence the ball hit the ground IMO.
Update: they came back from commercial with an angle that clearly showed the ball hit the turf. Incomplete pass.

The D gave up a TD on a tiring drive, one play later, they have to go back out again...not the best plan, overall.

Jones just has all day to throw. This team scored 3 points on offense last week. Vikes got a huge break on that call overturning the TD but it might take 45 points to win the way the defense is just giving up big play after big play.
Chasing 3 after 3 with the ball on the Patriots 10. Need a touchdown.
The NFL catch rules are stupid.
Fantastic plays by JJ (again) and Kirk for the TD. Vikes up 7 now. Defense needs one more stop here.
Vikings had to burn two timeouts on that drive because they couldn't get a play called. Can't let that happen.
Pats had 12 men in the huddle on 3rd and 1. No flag. Pats don't convert anyways.
Need points here.

That last catch by JJ was good, but it was more Kirk throwing an absolute dime to him.

The Patriots LT has false started about 6 times tonight with not one single call. It blows my mind. He's a step into his drop before the ball is snapped so often.
BIG time sack.

Phenomenal play by Pat Peterson on 2nd down to keep the receiver in bounds. Wow. Absolutely phenomenal.
Vikings win 33-26!
Primetime Kirk 30/37 for 299 and 3 TDs with 1 INT.
Garrett thinks our defense is good, whatta maroon. They did step up big in the fourth after looking like crap for 3 quarters.
Super surprised to see a Patriots team that looks so poorly coached. That game was there for them to win but their special teams are awful. Wouldn’t be surprised to see their ST coach fired.
The NFL catch rules are stupid.
They should just go back to if the ball touches the ground it’s not a catch, period. These refs can’t handle judgement calls.
Patrick Petersen: “we’re never out of any game”. You’ve gotten curbstomped twice this year but congrats on forgetting those games.
Belichik postgame presser not happy about the overturned Henry TD, said “go ask the refs why, isn’t that what you do?” When do reporters get to interview the refs and how great would that be?

Does that count the pick and the one that should have been in the first quarter? In his defense, after the first quarter I thought Cousins looked like he was rolling out a stinker but he played well after that.
Vikings undefeated since the Reaves pickup. Impossible to overstate how good that trade was.

Hock seems to be the missing piece. As for the Vikes losses, look who they lost to. Those opponents are not slouches.

Would feel a little better if those 2 losses weren’t ugly. To be fair, the Philly game felt bad but neither team scored in the second half so it was really just 1 abysmal half.
I still think the adversity will help the Vikes in the long run, I believe it helped today.
I think the Bills are learning what the Vikings already know, for example.

What are the Bills learning? I feel like the Bills are totally tied to how many turnovers Allen makes. You can’t deny it’s troubling.
Every Vikings game seems to be its own unique craziness. The win against the Bills was 1 huge Allen gaffe and a bunch of great Vikings plays. Todays win was hanging around until the Pats screwed it up which is amazing to say cause that’s how Bellichik won all those Super Bowls.

They did talk to Walt Anderson, who apparently is the head of NFL replay officials? He said it was clear and evident that the ball touched the ground and Henry lost control of the ball after the ball made contact with the ground. Therefore the pass is incomplete.

The Vikes are 9-2 and yet if you read this thread you would think they have Detroit's record. Good lord some people just refuse to enjoy anything...
The NFC has no dominant team, the Vikes are as good as any of them.

What’s a “pool report” and why is this not nationally televised on free TV? People are talking about it.
looked like a TD catch live but the ball hit the ground sorry bro
also watch the Theilen TD catch, he bobbled it and just barely got 2 feet in, not much made about a review on the broadcast but I’m sure they looked at it.

You’re terrible at this. We’re breaking down the good and the bad of every Vikings game…are you not watching the games we’re commenting on? This is literally how we’re enjoying the games, by discussing them. If you think every NFL team season is anything other than a testosterone soap opera then you should rethink your existence.

OK also:
We don’t have any missed inclinations about what this team is. There’s nothing to show us that this Vikings team could do anything other than get steamrolled by a team like SF in a playoff game, even at home. SF is physical on both sides of the ball and built for the playoffs. The other 2 top NFC playoff contenders have destroyed us…embarrassingly. A playoff win against any of them would be amazing but doh’kay prolly not.
Dont get me wrong, we are on the right path, love KOC etc
I’m very pleased they’re 9-2. And after an abysmal performance on Sunday, to bounce back & get a win over a Belichek coached team, however they did it, was HUGE ☝️Worrying about how they’ll do in the playoffs is good fodder, but essentially premature at this juncture. The D looked like Swiss Cheese until the last 3 Pats possessions. JEFFERSON is amazing, Thielen had a really good game too, and Captain Kirk is a durable, tough SOB….who threw 3 TD passes! But the biggest play of the game was the kick return TD, just as momentum was swinging big time the Pats way, the kick return reversed that! ?
Awesome game to be at. Crowd was on fire. As Mike Tice once said, "enjoy the season".
However, our kicking is a serious serious issue.

Most judgements call should be made ‘black or white’. Don’t allow these incompetent stripes to spin more than two brain cells making a call or reviewing a call.

I don't think it was a coincidence that the two games the Vikes lost were against teams that have a very good pash rush and the game script allowed them to pin their ears back and go after Cousins.
The Vikings are a team that just can't afford to get too far down against teams like that. We don't have a good enough offensive line to be in one dimensional pass happy mode for too long against other good teams.
I am a believer in Philly but they look like they are not playing as well as they did a month or so ago.
I could end up wrong but I kind of feel Dallas is somewhat overrated. Much like people say about Cousins, I think Prescott is going to make enough mistakes to hurt them when it counts. I think that defense gets a lot of attention for splash plays (their secondary takes a lot of risks) but they get burned too. They can be run on if you dedicate yourself to it and don't abandon it.
I like the 49ers a lot. Shanahan knows how to run an offense really well and that D is tough. I know Jimmy G. isn't the greatest but he doesn't have to be when you have a really strong running attack and a tough D.
I'm enjoying the season but, as I told a Packer fan co-worker two weeks ago, I have been a Vikings follower long enough to know to never get too excited about anything they do. They'll find a way to let us down. ha
I hope they start to focus more resources in the next year on building up that defense.
I want to stay away from SF. If McCaffrey/Deebo stay healthy they open up a huge number of options for their pass/run attack.

I think SF, PHI, and MN (if healthy, they have no depth) are the real deals. DAL...maybe makes some noise in the playoffs, but not a real contender. TB could be a dark horse if they get their head out of their collective arses.

Week 13:
NY Jets @ Vikings (-3)
Jacksonville @ Detroit (-1)
SKOL VIKINGS!!!
Keep your stick on the ice...
Not sure it’s a big loss at all, but worth nothing:
