Not much of a soccer fan here.... Although watched bits and pieces of the Euro Cup at OC through out the tourney. Ronaldo of Portugal always seemed to be in the right place. A step or head above everyone else on the field.
Depending on who you ask, he's either the best player in the world, or the second best player in the world.
That's why I was bummed that he got injured so early in the final. Love him or hate him, he's a generational talent.
I'm in the camp of him being the 2nd best player in the world, but he really did have an excellent tournament. He also didn't act like a huge baby or come across on quitting on his team when things weren't going his way like he has so many other times when playing for Portugal.
That goal he setup against the US in the World Cup is still one of those you just shake your head at...it's not fair that anyone has the talent to do that once let alone do it in a World Cup game
Its so awesome that they are both in the prime of their careers at similar times. It's even more fantastic that they happen to face off multiple times a year in La Liga.
It's sad Messi retired from Argentina. Watching him play in the last World Cup was a simple pleasure. That goal against Iran was absurd.

He'll be back. He reportedly already told the president of Argentina that he will play again.
Edit: apparently he didn't say it, but the Argentinian president is confident that he'll be back after talking to him.

Good. It seemed like a rash emotion based decision after having a real tough two years losing to Chile twice and Germany. Argentina is still a threat in any tournament they play.
His tax issues in Spain seem like a much larger problem than Argentina losing, at least at the moment.

USWNT plays France in about a half hour. NBCSN, I believe.
Carli Lloyd!!
Poacher goal.

Doesn't Armadillo have family on that team?
Hope Solo beaten 5-hole. Terrible goal.
Down 1-0 early to Colombia.
Brazilian crowd is rooting vehemently for Colombia.
Dunn! Big goal before halftime.
USWNT lose to Sweden in penalties
And, to the surprise of nobody, Messi has unretired from the Argentina NT; will play in September.
USMNT plays today at 2:30 PM cst, against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
They are last in the group, with a -16 goal difference. Last time we played them, it was a 6-1 US win. The Prime Minister of SVG has given the entire country (population 106,000) a half-day in order to go to the game.
Up after that is Tuesday night in Jacksonville vs. Trinidad and Tobago.
We need to win these 2 games to ensure that we get the top seed in the Hex, for the next round of qualifying.

Are the off shore games possible to get on video in any manner? (off from work today)

Never mind, looks like BeIN Sports might have it on today. Sweet.

Sounds like there's an app to stream and that the game is being played in the afternoon because there aren't any lights at the stadium. So basically it's like playing St. Paul Academy.

Haha yeah, I read that they couldn't fly directly there because the airport can't accommodate jets. They had to fly into another island, then take small passenger planes to SVG. Including one plane just for their equipment.

If they win today and Trinidad and Tobago win today, we are through to the Hex. There is no seeding.

Oh nice, I thought we had to win this group to get out.

Top 2 from each group advance. The only difference between winning the group and finishing 2nd is the order of games in the Hex.
USMNT plays Trinidad and Tobago tonight at 7 on FS1.
Pulisic is in the starting XI
How was that not a red? Don't even care if they spot it outside the box my gawd!
Yeah, the foul was definitely in the box. Should have been a pen!

I agree - but even outside the box wasn't that a straight red?

Eh, I think a red would have been harsh. Bedoya was headed towards the corner, and there were other defenders back, so it wasn't an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Bit of a wild challenge though, yellow wouldn't have been out of the question, in my mind.
Pretty sure they issued a yellow, but my feed was skipping a bit right after.
Ah yep, they did. I think that's fair. (besides the fact that it was in the box and probably should have been a penalty)
GOAL!!!
Klejstan!!
Real nice sequence in the attacking third before that goal.
Jozy!!
Nice finish!
Oh what a feed from Pulisic! Jozy with another. I'm getting really hyped for Pulisic
They're having fun now!
Arriola with 2 goals in 2 caps for USMNT.
19,410 announced attendance
Team looked very good tonight. Pulisic needs to be playing every game he is fit. You rarely see the kind of creativity he has from USMNT players. When he gets the ball in space, he almost always found a way to get it in the box.
The kid has some real talent. Very excited for his potential.
Seems like the poor form they had early in qualifying has been put behind them for the time being. iirc they've had close calls at T&T before?
USMNT plays New Zealand tonight at 7, on ESPN.
Sounds like a few young guys will get a chance tonight. I'm hoping Lynden Gooch gets a start tonight, I've been interested to see him play, but I don't want to subject myself to watching Sunderland
USMNT vs. Mexico tonight at 7pm from Columbus.
Come on, Dos a Cero!
USA and Mexico take their team picture together as one.
Very cool.
"No more dos a cero.."
btw how eff was that not a foul on the take down of Bradley?
Looking infinitely better since they went back to a 4-4-2.
Our CBs are not good enough to play 3 at the back.
Bobby Wood!!!!!
1-1!
Lol, we have a member of the Mexican swimming and diving team playing up front for Mexico.
I don't watch too much soccer. Does Jermaine Jones always play like hot garbage?
God damnit.
Of course it's Rafa Marquez.

He's usually pretty solid. To be fair I don't think he's been terrible tonight.
I am surprised he's played the whole game though, Jurgen indicated that he wasn't at full fitness.
Pretty sure Jurgen is done after this break.
USMNT on BeIN tonight :ddown:
Be happy that you're not watching

Saw they're down 1-0
They look like a League 2 side... in relegation.
Yikes, looks embarrassing.
Your call on Klinsmann might be right.
