Nice to see them tie it up. They need a W but they cannot have anything worse than a D here.
Also the horny things in the crowd are still annoying as heck.
Pepi!!
What ever was said at halftime is working!!!
Pepi > Preki
Nice response tonight! 3 goal away win in CONCACAF is a fantastic result.
They need to take that effort in the second half, bottle it up, and bring it back in November for the next three games. That's how you outplay a team on the road.
That was a really fun 45 min. I have hope going forward. How much credit does GB get for that half?
I think something that has been lost but I mentioned before these games started - this roster has a # of key players that did not play during the Gold Cup. You can't just put 25+ guys together and expect them to immediately gel. This team is immensely talented and to expect them to come right out of the gate having figured that all out is unrealistic.
Their next 3 games will reveal more of what they - and Berhalter - are really all about.
Team US vs. Jamica is about to start. Hopefully we have a lot of (Ricardo) Pepi is our step!!!
Why is that not a red card? Why is there no VAR for this match? This is a WORLD CUP qualifying match!!!!!!
He was in free and the last defender grabbed him pulling him down from behind!!!!!
I don't believe VAR is in place for WCQ matches, someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I think the rationale is that the Super tiny nations that play in the very beginnings of WCQ (your St. Kitts and Nieves, etc) don't have the financial means to install it.

You are correct!!! But IMO having it in some matches is better than having it no matches.

FiFA had enough money to cover that and not blink an eye.
Yeah that’s a CONCACAF decision. They didn’t want it for their games. I guess they didn’t want the responsibility or to force other countries to come along to the 21st century.
So I missed France come back from a 0-2 deficit at the half. All because I decided to work on a Thursday.
Ugh he was wide OPEN in the box but the pass was behind him!!!!

Gotta maintain the CONCACAF shithousery!
A Jamaican player runs into the Ref and goes down. Who is the foul on?
Time for a red card!!!!!!
This is brutal

Last defender fouls from behind!!!!! Just a yellow card again!!!!
How are you suppose to score if every time the last defender can take you down from behind?
Lets just make calls so every game has the best chance of ending 0-0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jamaica should be down to nine men!!!!
This looks pretty on par for CONCACAF reffing that I have seen through the years.

This afternoon France got the tying goal because with VAR the call was changed giving them a PK.
Apparently getting calls right in the United Nations is more important than getting calls right in World Cup qualifying.
Pepiiiii!
Team US has a lot Pepi in their step!!!! Ricardo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 Pepi 2 Jamaica 0
Pepi again!!
WOW... Love this kid!

The announcers are REALLY trolling the ref.

4 goals in your first two caps is a heck of a way to kick off your senior team career. If the US has finally found their #9 they could be really dangerous
History is incredible too. There’s a great feature on him in The Athletic right now
*3 but your point still stands.
Pepi, McKennie, Arriola, Aaronson, Musah, Reyna, Pulisic and I'm forgetting a name or two, but the future is bright.
3 goals 2 assists in two games is quite a start for Pepi
Mexico drops points against Canada. And just like that, USMNT sits atop the qualifying table
Losing to Panama, down one to Costa Rica, and the next match being at Mexico the rest of this home match against Costa Rica is HUGE!!!!
Giving up a goal in one minute. :ddown:
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 We are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1-1
What a banger from Dest! Nice to have a fullback in the squad who can pull that from his back of tricks.
Wow!!!!!! Was that a bad give away by the US defense.
The Costa Ricain player was sooooo slow with the ball. It was like he didn't know how to dribble with the ball.
GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 USA 2-1
Is Costa Rica supposed to be good? The US is passing all around the zone. Doesn’t look like CR is very good. US went up 2-1
Weah!!!!

Costa Rica is usually a pretty solid team. Very stingy defensively. They came into tonight in 4th out of 8 spots in this qualifying round, I believe.
They are a very veteran team, 6 players over 30. Their keeper, Keylor Navas, is one of the better keepers in the world.

I’ve been unable to watch the game but saw the highlight. Fullbacks shouldn’t be able to do that…he looked like a #10 there

All of the US starters were younger than the youngest Costa Rican starter. They also don't have the depth of the US.
Nice comeback win. This team seems to be showing some backbone.
An important win. The youngest team the US has ever used in a world cup qualifying match. It wasn't always pretty but for the young guys to keep gaining experience and get the three points is big.
Any info on Pulisic, Reyna, others health? Are they likely to be available for the next match (against Mexico)? If I'm not mistaken they've missed all 6 matches so far.
Good thing VAR isn’t a thing for these games because that was probably a penalty in the first half. But other than that/first goal the US looked pretty dominant.
USMNT vs. Mexico tonight at 8pm on ESPN2
Playing at home. A win tonight would go a long way towards qualifying.
Pulisic is back with the team but is not in the starting lineup. There is a good chance he will be put in as a sub at some point in the second half. I was hoping in a big match against Mexico he would be the starting line up. Hopefully the team plays a good game and gets the W.
