Crowd in Orlando is MILES better than it was in NY/NJ.
We've gotta be a little careful now. Panama still looks motivated, if we're not careful they can get right back in it before halftime.
Agree with Twellman, I think we need a formation change after half. I think I'd take Wood off and bring on Cameron or someone who can sit in the midfield with Bradley. Then bring Dempsey on as a super sub.
Great work by Bobby Wood to draw that penalty. Excellent play. Huge opportunity here to go 3 up.
Hahaha Jozy, you cheeky bastard. Chips the penalty. 3-0!!!

I agree completely.
Just kidding. I have no clue what the hell you’re talking about, but I am enjoying the 3-0 score. :dup:

Why doesn’t the player fouled have to take the kick?

Just one of the rules. Any player can take a free kick or penalty kick.

If you care, I'll explain a bit, using my amateur tactical knowledge:

This is the formation we had in the first half:
<img class="go2wpf-bbcode" src=" https://i.imgur.com/UWhMrz6.pn g" alt="">
A very wide formation, very conducive to attacking. This was essentially Bruce Arena coming out and saying: I think we can score goals against you. He was essentially betting here that we'd come out and attack confidently and get on the board early. He was right.
Problem is that we're being stretched pretty far, and Panama is competent going forward. Bradley is playing a defensive midfield position, and he's kind of out there all alone, because our other players are all basically attackers.
I'd like to see them switch to this in the second half:
<img class="go2wpf-bbcode" src=" https://imgur.com/pJYKWx C" alt="">
<img class="go2wpf-bbcode" src=" https://i.imgur.com/pJYKWxC.pn g" alt="">
That allows for the two defensive midfielders to play off each other. It still allows for attacking, but it's safer.

Thanks for the info. When I coached my daughters 7 year old soccer team, because they had no one else, not because I knew anything about soccer, we didn’t get quite that involved.
That penalty seems to have broken Panama, they don't look very motivated in this second half.
Bobby Wood!!!!!
Clinical finish. Nice play, 4-0!
Fantastic game tonight. They responded perfectly. One more win and we're going to Russia. Get it done on Tuesday night, boys!
OK.... so, admittedly not a soccer fan, but if I'm reading the standings right, if the US ties T&T tonight, that should get them in the World Cup unless Panama wins by 7 or more goals against Costa Rica, and/or Honduras wins by 12 or more over Mexico?
Or, of course, they could just win and not care about anything else
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

Yep, a win or a draw gets us through. Only way we get eliminated tonight is if we lose, Panama beats Costa Rica, and Honduras beats Mexico. A pretty unlikely scenario.
There are a couple other scenarios where the US does not qualify directly with a draw tonight. Panama has to win by more than 7 goals or win by 7 and score 10 more than the US. Honduras has to win by more than 12 goals or win by 12 and score 7 more than the US. None of those is likely. A USA win is the best way though.

Yeah, I was just going by scenarios grounded in reality
The biggest win against Costa Rica in Panama's history is 2-0.
Honduras' biggest win against Mexico in their history is 4-1.
If we draw tonight, we're qualified.

I totally agree. Just win to remove all the odd scenarios!
Yeah, an American team who knows they just need to win to get in, against an already eliminated T&T side, I'm expecting nothing short of a W tonight

I'm expecting 0-0. It's going to be hard to play with the scuba gear on.
Uhhh, holy shit.
Ecuador just scored 45 seconds into the game against Argentina. If Argentina lose, they do not qualify for the World Cup.
2 quick goals from Argentina, the last one from Messi. Finished with authority.
Leo wants to go to the World Cup.
Spectacular own goal for the USA... Lol
Down 0-1
Ruh Roh!
Hard work will beat talent, if talent doesn't work hard.
Haha wow, what a strike!
Down 0-2!
Costa Rica scores against Panama. That helps.
Mexico scores, they lead Honduras 2-1!
Awful first half.
Both the other scorelines are going our way right now, but yikes we played bad.
So they're gonna back their way into the WC
So they're gonna back their way into the WC
No, they've deservedly acquired the amount of points they have over the last 3 years. If it's enough, they will have successfully qualified.
And we have 45 minutes still to go get a result.
One team looks like they want to go to the WC. Ain’t the US.

Well T&T has known for quite a while now that they cannot go to the World Cup, sooooo.
So they're gonna back their way into the WC
Agree...

It’s still going through the backdoor...

What does "going through the backdoor" even mean? If you get enough points/goals to qualify, you qualify.
It's not like they're going to qualify on some random coin flip technicality.

I just find it funny that this thread is dead quiet the other night when we were killing Panama and looking amazing.
The wonder boy!!!! PULISIC!!!!!!!!
Big goal. Only down a goal now.

I know you’re wet behind the ears (do I need to explain that to you?). The backdoor in this case if the States lose and having to have two other teams to lose for the States to advance because the States couldn’t take care of thier own business.

Chile about to be out?

Haha, I was being a smart ass. I've just always thought it was funny how the narrative is different simply based on when things happen. If you lose your first 5, and win your last 5, everyone is pumped about the gritty effort. If you win your first 5 and lose your last 5, it's "the back door". When in reality it was the exact same scenario.
Chile about to be out?
There's going to be a good team in CONMEBOL who doesn't make it. That qualifying tournament is a bear.
Honduras scores, up 3-2 on Mexico.
This is shaping up to be a disaster evening unless we score a goal! lol
So US might lose to the worst team and have to go to a playoff if everything stays the same?
Or even if they score one
And play Australia?
And play Australia?
If all results stay the same, we go to a playoff against Australia. If we lose and Honduras/Panama win, we're out. If we score a goal here and draw, we're in.
Dempsey off the post. Wow.
These guys blow you gotta score. Finally found the channel.
The field is so terrible. The ball bounces like a basketball.
