That was a lot of fun watching him play golf this weekend. He has a lot of good stuff going, just a reminder that golf is really hard and pros are really good.

Is that a golf tournament or a Paint Thinner Nation tailgate? Seriously...

It's by far the most rowdy atmosphere on the tour and always has been. The players really seem to enjoy it so the PGA tour powers that be encourage it.

As with a great number of scenarios and events, self-control at the 16th hole of the WM Phoenix Open has disappeared. No doubt we'll soon see Silver-Salutes and smoke bombs being launched at the green. A bit of "crazy" is fine, but this has gotten ridiculous.

Saudi golf league: Here’s where top-ranked pros stand on the controversial breakaway tour

https://golf.com/news/top-pros-stand-saudi-golf-league/

Any bets on whether the new golf league will be a success, or not? The prize money will be enormous, but will it be enough to attract a good number or the world's best? Will loyalty to the PGA and its rich history be enough to retain most of them?

Application and schedule is up for the UMN Golf Club -- first individual event on 4/23 is a guest day where you don't have to join the club before deciding to sign up and you don't need to have a USGA handicap established yet.

The Players final two holes are nearly unplayable today. There are 25 mph winds. Over half the players have hit the ball into the water on the island green on 17. Rory just hit driver, 3 iron and came up short on the par 4 18th. If you want to see professionals struggle, today is your day.

Justin Thomas was hitting a wood into the green on 18 and had to back off the ball because the wind went from 25 mph down to 5 mph, he prolly would have hit it into the stands. Then Morikawa hit a wood out of the rough on 18 and almost held the green. Only 2 of the first 21 players have made the green in 2 on the par 4 18th.

On 17 most misses are hitting it straight into the water, not even hitting the green and bouncing over.

Varners post- win interview is gold. He admits that he doesn’t actually fully know the format of tournament and thinks he could win twice and not advance. I mean I guess but he just a rockstar.

My wife of 58 years (I think!) is exceptionally loveable also. Not only that, but she recorded TWO hole-in-ones last season. Plus she came within a foot of holing another one, after hitting the pin.

I wouldn't post this if I wasn't a little bit jealous. :)

Well yes, but clearly the decimal is incorrectly placed one digit to the left of where it should be. Mr. Green

Obviously they expect an ancient crowd (or a hungover one) selling advil and aleve.

Do they have to have a special license to sell drugs? I’m genuinely curious.

To be honest, if you go to Golf Galaxy or something like that, there are plenty of plain polos in the $100+ range.

This hype for Tiger at The Masters is a bit much considering it’s very possible he won’t even make the cut.

He actually has a good shot at making the cut. About 25% if the field has no chance of making the cut. They’re the past winners and amateurs. Always play the tournament, but won’t do anything. So he really just needs to beat out the next 25% or so to make the cut.

My guess is he will make the cut, then start to fade over the weekend

I can’t see any possible way he is in contention given the long layoff and how grueling a walk that course is.

Now that I say that he will probably finish in the Top 10 because he’s only done that 14 times in 23 previous trips there.

Besides 1996 playing as an amateur he’s never missed the cut at Augusta

Tiger with a long curling putt at 16 to get to 1 under….he’s always got some magic at 16.

Man the drone shots of Augusta on a sunny day are pretty amazing.

I put money on Smith at +1600 and while you can never expect someone to run away with it after one round I was surely feeling better before his tee shot on 18. LoL

Barring a blowup on 18 Eldrick is going to make the cut. I’m not all that surprised but it’s still impressive given the course and the fact he hasn’t played a PGA Tour round in over 500 days

Quite the rollercoaster day for Tiger with 6 bogeys and 4 birdies.

Agreed. This is where we see where his endurance is, walking that course for a 3rd day. I really hope he has a shot at contending. I don't expect him to win...but this IS Tiger we're talking about.

Tiger at +7. That stinks, although it was a win that he:

A: Played

B: Made the first cut

3 strokes separates the leaders...could get interesting tomorrow.

Tiger is 46 years old & lucky to even be alive following his car crash. Just teeing it up on the 1st hole, let alone making the cut is a tremendous accomplishment by Tiger.

If he was playing at +10 or something off the bat...I'd feel sorry. I don't want to see ego come before performance. And he has showed he can still hang.

I think the colder than usual weather really bothered him. You could tell yesterday in particular he was limping considerably more than Thursday or Friday. I wonder if his performance yesterday would have been a bit better if the temps were higher to help his body stay loose.

His swing looked pretty good, despite all that. His putter was absolutely atrocious yesterday. I think he had three 3-putts and a 4-putt. That's really bad.

It’s 70 degrees there today, he’s still limping and is four over through 15 today so I don’t think it’s the weather.
