Quite the playoff golf going on right now on NBC. DeChambeau has had numerous chances to close it out and somehow Cantlay is making long, clutch putts.

Cantlay drains a 20 footer + on the 6th playoff hole for the win. DeChambeau misses a downhill 10 footer to extend the playoff…couldn’t happen to a nicer guy…I’m sure Bryson will come up with several bogus excuses why he failed to close out this tourney?? :biggrin2:

The post match handshake by DeChambeau was almost a fly by. I know is was mad he blew multiple putts, by at least pretend to congratulate the winner. He and Patrick Reed are easily the most hated guys in golf.

At least Patrick Reed has the slightest bit of self awareness, while DeChambeau has zilch. Such an arrogant prick for a guy who’s won one Major. In the post match press conference, if he bothers to show for it, BD will show no humility or accountability for coming up short, that’s an easy bet.

One would hope that $7.5M in earnings so far this year could buy a bit of grace in defeat.

Golf is such a hard mental game, Tiger winning 15 majors against the quality of competition he faced during his career becomes more amazing with each passing day…and I’m not even a huge Tiger fan like many are…but you can’t help but acknowledge the greatness in what he’s achieved. Just for perspective…Rory with all his immense ability…hasn’t won a major in 7 years. No truer axiom in golf (& arguably in all of sports) than: drive for SHOW…putt for DOUGH ?

Tiger, until the scandals (and I still stick with the theory that bulking up hurt his game), was amazing. Tiger has the lead going into Sunday? The only question was who's finishing 2nd?

I wouldn't say it was so much the bulking up that hurt his game, he was able to maintain a near flawless swing, still had lots of mobility and range of motion. From the stories that have leaked, it sounds like it was more his fascination with military style training (i.e. Navy SEAL) that took away from his focus on golf, and brought on a number of injuries.

Patrick Cantlay finishes off an unbelievable 2 week stretch of golf and wins the Fed Ex Cup title at East Lake. As the points leader after winning the BMW playoff over Bryson D. last weekend, Cantlay started the week at -10 & finished the week at -21, while Jon Rahm started the week at -6 and ended the week at -20 (as runner up). A very entertaining last few weeks of golf on the PGA tour. Can’t wait for the Ryder Cup being held this year in cheeseland (Whistling Straits) in a few weeks!

Anyone play Les Bolstand recently? Vegoe ?

Course looks strange on googlemaps, possibly multiple fairways/tee boxes? Been probably , 6 years since I played there. I remember it being a tight course, but don't remember some of what I am seeing on google maps. Made a tee time there for this coming weekend, as all my usual places are booked until 3pm.

For example, the hole I remember as #1 looks like a "Y" shape now with 2 different greens. there is another hole with a "Y" shape and it looks like maybe 2 different tee boxes, one straight and one a significant dog leg...

Also, are we still growing the game? It has been quite a task just to secure tee times this season.

Justin Thomas missed the putt ;)

DJ and Collin Morikawa win 3&2, Schauffle and Cantlay win 5&3. Koepka and Berger leading on 17 too.

Would be a huge start for the USA to get 3 points this morning.

Gonna be interesting to see how Stricker handles the afternoon pairings. Do you bench Berger after his last couple swings? He looked like the nerves were getting to him.

Who do you pair Dechambeau with?

Guess they answered my question. All 4 new pairings. Not sure I like breaking up Xander and Cantlay or DJ and Morikawa.

DJ and Xander vs Casey and Weisberger

Dechambeau and Scheffler vs Rahm and Hatton

Finau and English vs McIlroy and Lowry

JT and Cantlay vs Fleetwood and Hovland

So far DeC seems to be going with the old spray and pray approach. His up & Down on one was spectacular.

That was huge.

Him and Scheffler together could be very interesting. Two guys capable of putting up low numbers or spraying it all over and losing 7&6 ?

Two points so far, this has probably been the best showing in the PM sessions of day 1 since forever.

They showed earlier that the last 3 Ryder Cups, the US has 1.5 points in this session COMBINED. If we can hold out and get these 3 points this afternoon, it's a major victory. But even 2.5 would be a great afternoon! Playing with house money right now.

So the US halves a match they should have won & halve a match they should have lost. Ends up the same....6-2 good guys.

And ANOTHER 3-1 session for USA. I wouldn't have been surprised to see the US up going into Saturday afternoon, but no way I'd have imagined a 9-3 lead at this point.

If not for the absolute brilliance of Jon Ramn…the score would be 14.5 to 1.5, he’s been that good. DJ & Morikowa & Cantlay & Zander (particularly) have played well for USA. Lowry putting out of his mind today, got Europe a point too. It’s been that lopsided (so far) in the USA favor. Rory has been a no show.

As previously mentioned, I believe, this is what happens when a Ryder Cup is scheduled in WI during Oktoberfest.

A bit of a slip in the afternoon's matches (and isn't that an insane thought), but still coming from behind on a couple pairings to take a split in the afternoon session. Incredibly impressive effort overall.

Bryson starts out by driving the green on hole 1. I think he likes this format because the fans are cheering for him and not against.

Bryson has become a lot more likable (at least to me) this weekend. He is fully embracing the experience; fun to watch.

And kudos to Bryson's caddy to put a three wood on six.

From the I didn't see that coming at all file: Scheffler destroys Rahm.

Lowry concedes to Cantlay and the US is now 1.5 away and the board is almost all red!
