Cantlay is trying, but...and that last shot...that bounce killed any chance for it to stick.

For Rory, playing amazing, draining 4 long putts to go from -4 to -8, then to finish -5 while missing 2 short putts. This one’s going to hurt for quite some time.

Bryson just crushing the post match interviews too! He’s come a LONG way! To me his evolution in the public eye has followed a process. First noticed it when he congratulated Koepka after he won the PGA last year. Then after finishing runner up (just outside a playoff) to Xander, he made his way over from practice tee area to shake his hand & congratulate him. And now today, paying tribute to his Father who passed away in 2022 & to Payne Stewart. I’m very impressed!

I watched very little yesterday (way too nice out, the pontoon was calling!) but from what I saw on Saturday Bryson was very likeable.  Quite a transformation.

I honestly think his YouTube channel is what single handedly changed peoples opinions and his own outlook. It showed that he can still be a funny guy doing challenges or whatever on YouTube, but when tournament season comes here and he is on the course- he is just locked in completely. I think it just showed people that he isn't just an asshole, he is just fiercely fiercely competitive.

I kind of wonder if the Bryson right now would still make the decisions about LIV Golf like the one who was so defiant when he left the PGA Tour.

Nobody has benefited more from LIV golf than Bryson. We don’t see as much of his ridiculous antics and berating volunteers and Marshals. There’s also a good possibility he has evolved as a human being and has matured.

He is an unbelievable golfer and has won at every level.

I know I may be in the minority here, but the US Open is my least favorite MAJOR to watch on tv. The firmness & speed of the greens is way too tricked up for my liking. I don’t enjoy watching the best players on earth hitting chips that roll right back to them or putting the ball off of greens. I’d actually go 1)Masters 2)PGA 3)OPEN 4)US Open. There are exceptions, Torrey Pines comes to mind as a US Open venue, because it’s hard to trick up that course due to its location  & climate.

I am far more interested in the courses, usually, than the actual title of the tournament.  Play at a super private course for the ultra wealthy (LACC, ANGC, Oakmont, Shinnecock, Southern Hills, Winged Foot) and I am not that interested.  This is the first US Open in a few years that I am interested in.  The Masters doesn't do much for me.

Play at a course than I can play (or in some cases have played), now I am interested.  I have played Pinehurst #2.  I am interested in watching.  Those are difficult greens to play, not JUST for the pros.  I had several greens 'visited' where I putted off the green because I was above the hole and couldn't possibly get a putt to stop from where I was.  I enjoy seeing pros deal with "the rub of the green" sometimes.  The tournaments where the winning score is -24, with ultra wide fairways, and flat greens, YAWN. I don't even bother turning that on.

I think the US Open should ALWAYS be at a public course.  Bethpage, Chambers Bay, Erin Hills, Pinehurst, Pebble Beach, Whistling Straits, etc.  The USGA should make it a goal to elevate some PUBLIC courses to be US Open level, and host it there.  Not have a bunch of rotating ultra private courses.  Just my opinion.

Definitely agree about the public courses for the US Open. I think it adds more to the aura that it's truly an "Open" whereas the Masters and PGA are more or less private (well, Augusta certainly is, the PGA plays at some public courses). There's just something cool about potentially being able to travel to Pinehurst and play #2, or Pebble or Whistling Straits etc. I'll never be allowed on at Augusta and will never be able to afford membership at 99% of the private courses they use but I could scrape enough money together for a trip to San Diego to play Pebble Beach etc.

I'd love to see the USGA say the US Open will be held exclusively at public courses going forward but I doubt it will happen.

I realize I'm splitting hairs with semantics, but nothing says "Open" like playing public courses that any golfer could conceivably walk on to.

Tiger is 48 years old and sadly appears to be the last person to realize his days of winning Major Golf tournaments are long gone…

Most players on tour have little to no chance at a major.

Yeah but most of them are closer than he is.  He labors just walking the course.  All the advantages Tiger used to have are gone and now his body is breaking down.

Rooting for Brown but maybe hit a heater and take pics with fans after you finish instead of taking a double on 18

Oh he should play but people need to be realistic...he likely never truly contends for a major again.  He might have a great round early in a major but he is more of a legacy act now.  And there zero wrong with that.

Speaking of likely never winning a major again how did Rory do this weekend 🤣

Xander Schauffele wins his 2nd Major title of 2024 after shooting a final round (6 under par) 65 to finish -9. Rose & Horschel finish tied for 2nd place at -7.
