My gosh the nhl makes the playoffs hard to watch with the shit they let go. Leonard with a dirty hit in the neutral zone. Kid is definitely the next Wilson out in Washington

Second night in a row a linesman is injured and replaced with the backup official.

What MN born player currently playing in NHL is better than Jake Guentzel? I can’t think of one offhand!

Well you’re going to have to because Jake was born in Omaha!

I consider that a mere technicality 😉😜 You get the gist.

Guentzel sorta flys under the radar & U look up & he has 41 goals…not a former Gopher player but son of long time Gopher assistant coach.

Overall the Toronto offense looks a little anemic, but it’s a treat to watch Knies continue to drive play the way he did here at this level. Still a straw that can stir the drink.

It’s weird to switch between the OTW/TOR and TB/FLA games and the color schemes are almost identical.

Its wild to think that he jumped to the NHL directly onto Matthews line and 2 years later he’s still there

Its a tough job!

I sucks getting hit by a puck, stick or player.  It is already frustrating to get but, but then when someone runs into you, or shoots a puck into you, and then they turn and scream "Get the F*** out of the way!"

Oh? is that what I should do? gee, it never occurred to me. I wanted to get hit by that 80 MPH clearing attempt, thought it might be fun.

Still insist he got robbed not getting Hobey.  In every head to head game, I thought he was clearly better than Fantilli. Cooley too, for that matter, especially obvious in World Juniors.

Sadly the Hobey Baker is becoming more and more like the Heisman. It’s a popularity contest and not the best deserving player.

Knoblach pulls skinner for Edmonton and he immediately gets scored on. Great call to ruin both your goalies confidence in one fell swoop

That was a BAD 1st goal for Vasil to let past him. Nate Schmidt with his 3rd goal of the series. Fla 1-0

The bench interview with Maurice was fantastic.

Interviewer:  "What do you think of Nate Shchmidt?"

PM: "Never liked the guy. {Then, as he smiles} He's sitting right in front of me....."

That penalty by Hagel while trying to come back and tie it was so stupid lol. Not only nullified a PP but it was a five min penalty that wasted even more time.

Wilson is so effective with his shenanigans that he’s convinced other teams in their division to waste roster spots on over the hill goons.

Oilers/Kings game...  This is a rule I hate!

Kane clearly kicks the puck, but it hits Keumper.  Then Kane buries the rebound.

If the goalie lets the initial kick motion in, it is no goal.  But because they react and make a save, they get punished.  DUMB

(Granted in this case Keumper was sprawled out and really didn't know where the puck was)

McDavid centering Kirill and Boldy. 🤔 I think they might be good together. 😀

I know Ovi has the goals scoring record, why are playoff games goals not included with his total goals in a season?

Not an even playing field then for all the guys who don’t make the postseason I would imagine.

That's always been my understanding.  I can't think of a sport that doesn't exclude playoff stats from that kind of record.  Most of them do have playoff records though, that come with the inherent understanding that different players have been in wildly different numbers of games (even accounting for differences in career length, injuries, etc, just a totally different number of games their teams even play).

I can see the argument for including playoff goals/assists in individual record stats like this.  If they DID include them, Ovi would have another 43 goals to catch up with Wayne. (Plus an additional 190 assists on top of the 1,237 he's behind on)

Personally, playoff stats should be included in career records. As @steve-mn noted Ovi is still 43 goals behind Gretzky if playoffs were included. When I look at records, I assume playoffs should be included. And you can always have the breakdown of regular and playoff records as well.

How are you going to make that a rule that isn't more of a judgement call though?  A player is free to advance the puck with his feet. So what happens if a guy near the net kicks a puck forward towards the net to try to play it with his stick but a D or G's stick stops it before he can. The player than gets a shot off.  Would you disallow the goal because he kicked it towards the net first, even though he was just trying to make a skate-to-stick play?

I'd have it as... if it's kicked, and the first person to touch it is the goalie, that stops play.   If it deflects off anyone else, it's live.  No need to bring a judgement call into it (other than the "was it kicked" part that's inherent in a kick discussion)

I have proposed it as @SteveMN wrote it up, several times to USA Hockey, NFHS, and NCAA.

The rationale I have been given each time is that a teammate could play the puck when kicked, so it stays live.  Which is dumb (to me).  Once it was kicked on net, and hits the goalie, dead puck.

Hand pass on net?  Immediate whistle, faceoff outside.

High sticked on net?  Immediate whistle, faceoff outside.

Kicked puck on net? nah, fair game.

If it deflects of any player, including the goalie, and goes directly in the net, it is no goal.  But if it deflects off the goalie and then someone else shoots it.  Good goal.

You punish the goalie for making a save.  The issue I have with it, is the goalie letting in the puck benefits him in this sense, as it eliminates the chance for a good rebound goal.  If it benefits the goalie, to let the puck go in the net... there is a problem with the rule (in my humble opinion).

It happened ON the Vegas OT goal the other day.  Roy kicks the puck, Gus reacts and makes a leg pad save, which kicks it out to Barbashev who buries the rebound.

If Gus forgets how to play goalie, and lets the initial kick go past him, it is no goal (or goes wide).  But because he instinctively reacts, Barbashev has a rebound to bury.

I don't know that Roy was intentionally kicking it in the net, but intent doesn't matter on high sticked, or hand-passed pucks on net.  Why should it matter with a kick?  Why would you allow such an unsafe play?  If a D-man has you tied up, just kick at it an hope for a rebound?  Seems like a good idea, right?

(Yes I am an official, and an ex-goalie.  I really do not like this rule)

Goalmouth scrambles are dicey... that's a reason to allow kicking the puck on net?  A goalie is likely down, and prone, with limbs extended trying to freeze the puck.  Let's allow guys to kick at the puck while we are at it.

Ekblad drills Hagel in the jaw with an elbow hard enough that he’s wobbly and has to go to the room for evaluation. No call. Jackson says “I don’t know if he did that on purpose but they may have missed that with all the players around” Nope none of that, Jackson is worthless on these broadcasts.

Beginning to believe that ⚡️Vas best days are OVER. Started with a brutal (didn’t look) weak clearing attempt by Guentzel too!

GIVES up a fat rebound on tying goal, then misses a shot from point for what will Prove to be the GWG, all with less than 4 minutes left in 3rd period. And Fla just hit an empty net.
