A team does not have to have a GREAT (see: high-paid) RB in today's NFL. They have to have a serviceable one.

Versatile too. It’s nice to have a bruiser to get you one yard and a nice pass catching back. That’s essentially what New England ran for years with Tommy.

The "RBBC" (Running back by committee) has been used for quite a few years. One back is a runner between the 20s, and then you have the bruiser/goal-line back to hit the red zone. It's been a position that has gradually become specialized and devalued year after year after year. Why pay $10MM to one RB, when you can pay $3MM to 3 different specialist RBs (runner, grinder, pass-catcher/3rd down back)? On top of that, the NFL is becoming more and more similar to the Arena League Football of old, with the high-powered, high-flying offenses, and the years of 3 yards and a cloud of dust are being left behind.

When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.

Oof.  Just reading this.  Good Riddance.  I hope he isn't signed by another team.

So with free agent running backs being available when they interview in person is their agent with them to help request a contract?

Good landing spot for Cook and a nice fit with Rodgers and the Jets' offense. I have a feeling he will do well there.

NFL preseason is such a joke! Cine & Booth Jr appear to be BUSTS, not a great start for KAM drafting pedigree.

4 (?) carted off on stretchers so far this pre-season? That's a little concerning.

And Matt Barkley (Bills) goes 7-12, 93yds, 3 picks, and a fumble lost...good God. Who does he think he is, Nate Peterman?

The Trey Lance experiment in SF is over.  What a debacle of a pick.

I’m saying that trading him could be the other potential mistake being made, it kinda has to be one or the other. The 49ers seem to be a competent org so I assume they probably know something I don’t but they seem to have a lot of faith in Purdy.

I think the 49ers organization (and John Lynch) are a bit overhyped in their genius and I think Purdy will be proof of that. (as will Lance...oof) Trading Lance though is the smart move because even if Purdy sucks Lance is not going to be the long term answer at the position and everyone knows it.  Keeping him would just be ego getting in the way...the inability to admit your mistake and having to ride the crashing plane until the end.

I said it multiple times in multiple places, he and his handlers fleeced organizations into believing he was a top end pick.  Easton Stick at NDSU put up similar numbers (multiple times!) and he was a 5th round pick.  Good for Lance mind you but it is kind of crazy how every year teams fall for this crap.  Pundits I get, most never have an independent thought but the teams are filled with guys who see this every year and yet they just can't see the forest from the trees.

The amount they gave up to trade up vs what they got back for him in this trade is insane. Definitely one of their worse moves as a team. That said they’ve been really good at building a team despite the lack of above average QB play.

I couldn't agree more.  9er fans are just eating up Purdy right now and I believe he is going to make a giant thud this season.

Trey Lance was over hyped from the start. He rode the shirttail of the NDSU hype and Carson Wentz.  Even Wentz is overhype... what's he doing now? Selling steak knife sets at county fairs?

I'm sure the Jets' calm, reasonable, well adjusted fanbase will deal with this well.

None. Clean sack, it was a freak thing. I don't think ANYONE thought he was hurt until he just sat there.

And Stefon now has the 5th most receiving TDs in Bills' history, with 30.

I would bet 50% of MLB, NBA and NFL players couldn’t work a blue collar job with a negging injury. That so many blue collars work on days to weeks to months on.
