The Transfer Portal is getting even more ridiculous. Kadyn Proctor transferred to Iowa, in January and enrolled in classes. Now he has reentered the Portal to return to Alabama. Athletes that enter the Portal should at least have to stay one year. Make one think that money was involved.
Iowa fans were pissed when he reneged on his move to Iowa to return to Alabama since the rumor was he received $100k in NIL money from the Iowa collective Iowa Swarm. The rumor got heated enough that the Swarm CEO had to make the media rounds to calm fans down and let them know that Proctor received no money from the collective that was donated by fans. The only money he received was from corporations that the Swarm hooked Proctor up with doing charity type events.
Like @skiumahlaw has said on here elsewhere is that NIL collectives can't publicize how much an athlete receives since it is a private contract between the collective and the athlete. Though through sources we all find out what the neighborhood is that athletes are receiving. I think the assumption with Proctor is that it is completely about the money.

It's either extortion or excellent negotiating skills, depending upon which table you're sitting at in the courtroom.

College sports as we have known it, are dying. It has finally started to admit, openly, what is has been for years: a minor league system for the big name sports, and only now the players are being paid legally.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
This might be one of my favorite Tweets of all time. The chest pounding and bravado from husker fans as they prepared to "take over" the Big Ten was considerable.

Ok...I'm pissed and embarrassed. Two FG's instead of TD's inside the 5 yard line and a stupid call for a 2 pt conversion where you don't run the ball which ISU had problems stopping most of the game. Those things and the fact our QB has NO touch on his throws because he continues to throw off his back foot are the reasons Iowa deserved to lose the game on Saturday.
Ferentz sounded like a moron in post game saying that McNamara "still is getting into game shape". IF HE ISN'T IN "GAME SHAPE" WHY IN THE EFF IS HE EVEN PLAYING?!?!?!?!
The vaunted Iowa defense just got handled in the second half...effing embarrassing.
The blueprint on how to beat Iowa is on tape now.

The list of times I'll cheer for Alabama is pretty short.
When they play the Red Menace is, of course, at the top of that list.
Same. I can only think of one other instance.

Badger/Packer fans in the comments of the former Gopher player correcting him that it was actually 35-10 at the end of the 3rd quarter (when they do/did Jump Around). 🤣
Always happy to see Wisconsin get curb stomped, regardless of the sport. That said, credit to them for scheduling Alabama. If you're going to get your ass kicked in non-conference games, it might as well be by an elite program.

100% this. That's something I miss with the Gopher Hockey program, but, at least part of that is the insistence on a certain number of home games every year, making it harder to schedule the elite programs that we got at Mariucci in the past.
As much as I don't like Brett, if PJ were to leave, he may be our best bet. Opportunity for him to have an annual revenge game against the school that really did do him wrong, gets him to a metro area that while it isn't 100% gophers all the time, is no worse than Champaign. He's a good ( 🤢 ) coach for this part of the country.
Georgia played great in the second half after being horrible in the first and had a decent shot at winning that game. In some ways they almost scored that go ahead TD too early, they could’ve milked a lot of clock and put Bama in a bind. The way it actually played out was way more entertaining and wild to say the least.
Georgia theoretically could still be in the playoff picture if they beat Texas and win out and Bama’s schedule isn’t exactly easy either. I think those two teams could theoretically play each other in the SEC championship too.
That was a fun game for a neutral fan to watch--if they bothered tuning in for the second half.
Hats off to Alabama coaches and team. They were in a bad funk and GA just took the lead away from them. Losing teams would have their confidence shattered.
Everyone, especially Georgia, expected them to run a time-killing drive and put themselves in a nice spot for a game-winning field goal. Throwing a bomb was off script but when you have a 17-year-old phenom on your side, it's not a terrible idea.
As much as I like to rag on orgs when they do something insipid, I'm 50/50 on calling their response pathetic. At least they took one step to try and prevent it form repeating, although they should also change the rule that these plays are not reviewable.
Reviewable...not reviewable...what are they review when they are reviewing...the whole thing is laughable. I believe the Gopher play would have been reviewable if the ball was recovered and they went on to score. Because it was just recovered it wasn't reviewable. Maybe, sometimes, occasionally, or in certain circumstances seems to be the way some officiating crews approach their job.
If it seems like I'm skirting the Dejean in the room...well I'm not. I've said from the beginning that I don't have a problem with the call but how they came to the conclusion, replay, and then their statement on how they used replay to come to the conclusion was convoluted and asinine. They went to review to look for and out of bounds but then used the opportunity to conclude the "invalid fair catch signal" was given but was only concluded from the press box cameras and not the ground level cameras.
Overall it just seems like B1G officials do what they want and when they want. To me officials shouldn't decide outcomes of games. They did exactly that in the Gopher game this past weekend. And now you have the slap in the face that they are going to change the rules because they effed up in real time. Good job asshats.
