UW is also my second fave with much of my family being out there. Cannot wait for the first gopher game at husky stadium
This is pretty wild. I seriously looked at UW as well because my aunt and uncle out there would have helped out. Connection between the two areas appears to be strong. On this message board, anyway. ?

No kidding. this is a very small community with a pretty strong nexus around a seemingly unrelated school.
My connection with UW is a bit different. My high school mascot was the Wolves and our school colors were purple and gold. Our football helmets and uniforms were always like UW. Recently the new football coach changed everything thing up. Trying to get away from the old regime Though people have always bought UW gear with ‘W’.

Plus Husky Stadium is one of the best atmospheres… The stadium's open end overlooks Lake Washington and Mount Rainer. Would almost bet more fans come by boat and tailgate by boat.

I lived on the U Dub campus for a year...they are definitely my #2! I can't wait to see the Gophs play out there ?
Lots of Minnesotans out there btw...
we can take my family’s boat for a better view!
Really hoping Florida St wins tonight. That would be three undefeated teams in the playoff (assuming Michigan wins). The list of one loss teams is Ohio St, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas all fighting for one spot. Texas may have the best argument out of those four beating Bama, who beat Georgia.
Who hates Iowa?
I'm still fully expecting that Alabama AND Georgia to get in. It makes me gag, but wouldn't surprise me in the least.
If Michigan and Florida State win it could be
1) Michigan 13-0
2) Washington 13-0
3) Florida State 13-0
4) Texas 12-1 with a 10 point at Alabama
No SEC team in would be pretty hilarious, no matter what happens some team is gonna be angry.

SEC is already calling "fraud" if no SEC team is in the playoffs. Buncha babies. Sorry, those are the so-called rules. Eat it.

My Top 4:
1) Michigan
2) Washington
3) Texas
4) Florida State
5) Alabama
6) Georgia
7) Ohio State
The Committee Top 4:
1) Michigan
2) Washington
3) Texas (The committee can't put Texas when they are going to bow to Saban and the SEC.)
4) Alabama (The committee will bow down to Saban and the SEC.)
5) Georgia
6) Florida State
7) Ohio State

I doubt Florida State misses as undefeated, that’d be pretty crazy though it’s the NC$$ and it’s certainly possible. Texas losing out would be more likely imo though idk how their computer numbers fare.
It will be pretty interesting to see how this all shakes out
Iowa with zero offense had no shot. You can hate Michigan but I won’t cheer for a team that got there with no offense. Brian Ferenz’s hissy fit showed what an entitled little spoiled punk he is. At least they figured out how to shake him loose from the team. He won’t be around next year.
Without him surely they can score three points against Michigan next year
I’m hoping for:
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Florida St
4. Texas
I think the committee will say that Florida St on their backup is not as good of a team right now to reason putting Bama in over them. I’ll be very shocked if the SEC is left out. Especially an ESPN playoff that owns part of the SEC TV rights.
Well I missed all the games yesterday. Didn't realize Georgia went down.
I was just telling Mrs dx that the goofs were the last team to win three in a row and that it's extremely difficult to do that.
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. Alabama ?
5. Florida State
6. Georgia

The last two weeks Bama has got A LOT of help from the refs.
Last week against 6-6 Auburn down by 4 points with 38 seconds left then needed a TD on 4th and goal from the 31 yard line. On the play a linemen held and the WR who caught the pass pushed off if either penalty is called they lose.
Yesterday with a minute and a half left in the half Bama went for it on 4th down and the pass was incomplete by the refs called it a completion two plays later Bama scores a TD. So that is 7 points Bama shouldn't have had and Georgia would have had great field position with a chance to get at least a FG so that is at least a 7 point swing and maybe 10 or 14 points. Bama wins by 3.
Without these missed called Bama has at least two losses and maybe three loses.
The SEC had a losing record against the ACC. The ACC should be PISSED!!!!!
This is the most surprising of all results but I love the message it sends.
Stop playing bullsh**t teams. FSU had a garbage SOS. A mediocre conference with a 1AA game.
Well it gives a chance for a B1G to show up in a BIG game and put the conference back in a spot for a title. I hate UMi obviously, but I'm tired of the SEC and Clemson.
In related news:
If a team who wins the NFC or AFC championship game has a key player hurt that team should be held out of the Super Bowl. That is the equivalent of what they did to find a way to get an SEC team in the playoff.
Florida State yesterday played with their 3rd string QB a true freshmen who had thrown 4 college passes. The playoff starts in 4 weeks by then their back up QB would play. He missed yesterday's game because with just over two minutes left last week a Florida player with his team trailing gets kicked out of the game for making an illegal hit to the head resulting in the Florida State QB getting a concussion.
With the QB who would have played in the playoffs the Noles last week beat their rival on the road who is an SEC team. If Bama goes on the road and beats Florida with their back up QB the story would be what a hell of a win to over come playing without your starting QB.
A few years ago Ohio State won both playoff games with their 3rd string QB (Cardale Jones) including beating #1 Bama in the semifinals.
The Noles defensive is excellent. Yesterday they held Louisville a top 20 offense all season to 6 points (2 FGs). Louisville was #14 going into the game and beat Notre Dame this season. The same Notre Dame team who when Ohio State beat the story was what a gutsy win by Ohio State.
One of Texas best players got hurt yesterday and he may not play in the playoffs. Texas has a lost to #12 Oklahoma. Oklahoma this season lost to Kansas who is unranked.
FLORIDA STATE GOT SCREWED!!!!!
This is the most surprising of all results but I love the message it sends.
Stop playing bullsh**t teams. FSU had a garbage SOS. A mediocre conference with a 1AA game.
Florida State in the non conference beat LSU 45-24 on a neutral field. LSU was #5 when the game was played and finished the season #13. FSU beat Florida on the road in another non conference game. That is two of their three non conference games.
3 of Bama's 4 non conference games were against Middle Tennessee State, South Florida, and Tennessee Cattanooga. Their 4th was a 10 point home loss to Texas.
The SEC is the only Power 5 conference that only plays 8 conference games.
The ACC was 6-4 against the SEC this season. Florida State was 2-0 against the SEC.
The ACC was 10-9 against the Power 5. The SEC was 7-9 against the Power 5.

they scheduled two SEC non-conference games and won both of them. This is factually incorrect.
Yeah it seems like they couldn’t decide between Texas and Bama so they just screwed Florida state. Was also thinking about how Ohio State’s only loss is to the now #1 team, guessing they didn’t have as many big wins as some of these other teams.
I'm convinced they selected based on fan based on fanbase & school least likely to sue, with texas being most likely followed closely by bamas

Next year the playoff is 12 teams it will 6 SEC teams and 6 Big 10/18 teams. Only slightly joking.
Welcome to the Power TWO era.
It will likely be 4 SEC teams, 4 Big 10/18 teams, 2 ACC teams, 1 Big 12 team, and 1 Group 5 team.
The Big 12 without Texas and Oklahoma (who are moving to the SEC) will have to really fight to get more than one team. The ACC will be in a much better position then the Big 12 especially if Clemson rebounds from a down season.
Although, how long will Florida State and Clemson stay in the ACC?
Yeah it seems like they couldn’t decide between Texas and Bama so they just screwed Florida state. Was also thinking about how Ohio State’s only loss is to the now #1 team, guessing they didn’t have as many big wins as some of these other teams.
Yeah, must have been really hard to pick between Alabama and Texas. Like super, duper hard. I'm just not sure how you can differentiate between the two.
Just another sign of how big of a fucking joke college football has become.
They kept showing Bama as having the 5th toughest schedule. I find it hard to believe that who faces a FCS team at any point has the fifth toughest schedule.
I mean if you want to argue that a week 2 game is the end all be all go ahead ?.Yeah it seems like they couldn’t decide between Texas and Bama so they just screwed Florida state. Was also thinking about how Ohio State’s only loss is to the now #1 team, guessing they didn’t have as many big wins as some of these other teams.

Why do they even play the games then? Keep laughing
Apparently that was the only game played all year … nothing else to consider here.
Yep and apparently Florida State's 13 wins and 0 loses didn't matter either. The games don't matter. ?
Texas and Bama won the beauty contest even though they looked ugly in many games this seasons apparently only what happened yesterday matters.
One of the reasons the SEC is the only Power Five conference that plays only 8 conference games is they continue to get away will playing easy non conference schedules and people continue to give them the benefit of any doubt even though they had a losing record against Power 5 teams (see records in above post). What reason does the SEC have to ever give other top teams a chance to prove they are better then them if they don't need to or risk playing a 9th conference game?
The kicker is even if you do beat them like the ACC did against the SEC this season it is ignored.
I agree that Florida State got screwed, any undefeated team should be in even if they have their punter playing QB due to injuries. Question is whether beating a team that hasn’t lost in 2 years in a conference championship makes up for a week 2 loss head to head between the remaining two teams and that part is more subjective. Both getting in over an undefeated is just pure corruption.
All this is why when they went to a 4 team playoff with 5 Power Conferences I immediately thought yeah that isn't going to cause any problems. ? It is funny that 6 or 8 teams was too many yet next season it will be 12. Money/the current TV deal which has the 6 big bowls (the 12 "top" teams going to the best bowls) is the reason they are going to 12 rather 8.
For soooooooooo long the reason was we can't have the student athletes play too many games so a 4 team playoff was too much since it would add an extra game. Now a team playing 4 playoff games is fine. NCAA/conferences keep trying to tell us it is about the student athletes yet we now have conferences that span all four time zones taking away more time from the student athletes and have 4 rounds of playoffs. When 8 teams would be just fine.
The way the NCAA/conferences/the selection committee tries to explain what they do is comical. Who do they think they are fooling? EVERY decision is made for only ONE reason MONEY!!!!!
The big conferences especially the SEC and Big Ten didn't what to share the big bowl games or playoffs but now they found a way to have a larger playoff while still getting most of the playoffs teams with 16/18 team conferences by stealing the big boys from the Pac 12 and Big 12 with Florida State and Clemson from the ACC likely being next.
This is the most surprising of all results but I love the message it sends.
Stop playing bullsh**t teams. FSU had a garbage SOS. A mediocre conference with a 1AA game.
FSU scheduled LSU and Florida in their non-conference schedule. They beat both of them, including an utter dismantling of the best offense in college football. The ACC was obviously down overall but it's not like they lost the only real non-conference test they scheduled like Alabama did.
The ACC was 10-9 against the Power Five including 6-4 against the SEC while the SEC was 7-9 against the Power Five. If the ACC was down what was the SEC?
Florida State beat the same amount of top 10, 15, 25 teams and more bowl teams than every team in the playoff.
Apparently that was the only game played all year … nothing else to consider here.
It wasn't. But if it comes down to 2 teams for 1 spot there seems to be a pretty easy way to determine who should get it when the 2 in question played each other already.
Yeah it seems like they couldn’t decide between Texas and Bama so they just screwed Florida state. Was also thinking about how Ohio State’s only loss is to the now #1 team, guessing they didn’t have as many big wins as some of these other teams.
Exactly. They couldn’t put in Alabama over Texas. So screw FSU to bow down to Alabama and the SEC.
Next year will be much better 12 teams. 5 power five champs and 7 at large. And no special rules for Notre Dame. I rather see special exceptions for a non power 5 over Notre Dame.
Keep your stick on the ice...
There’s plenty of other criteria to evaluate, namely beating a team that hasn’t been beaten in 2 years in the last game of a conference championship vs losing in week 2 to a team that arguably has a worse overall body of work. Not saying TX is for sure less deserving, an argument could certainly be made for them. IDK why they wouldn’t just use computer models like pairwise and be done with it rather than having a committee come up with the most corrupt decision ever but here we are lol.Apparently that was the only game played all year … nothing else to consider here.
It wasn't. But if it comes down to 2 teams for 1 spot there seems to be a pretty easy way to determine who should get it when the 2 in question played each other already.
With the collapse of the Pac 12 the 12 team playoff with be 5 conference champs (the Power Four + 1 group of 5) and seven at large teams that will likely be 6 more SEC/Big Ten teams.
The top 12 this season
4 SEC teams (Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, Ole Miss) and 2 new SEC teams (Texas and Oklahoma)
3 Big Tens (Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State) and 2 new Big Ten teams (Washington and Oregon)
Yes these teams might play each more now that they are the same conference although not that much since these conferences will be playing only half of the teams in the conference each season.
Do people think future selection committees are going to give Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Iowa State, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State at large bids over enough of the name schools?
When the SEC/Big Ten teams mentioned above get too many loss it will open up spots for teams like Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, USC, UCLA who likely gave some of the SEC and Big Ten teams mentioned above losses to help their case over the Big 12 and ACC teams listed above.
It's likely only a matter of time before Florida State and Clemson leave the ACC and what happened today will likely be the final straw.
At least with an arbitrary cutoff of 12 it’s harder to argue that you got screwed, no power five team will go undefeated and miss it outright. Even Boise State that year they played against Adrian Peterson would’ve been top 12. The only teams that could potentially get screwed in this scenario would be an undefeated non-P5 team and we all know the NC$$ couldn’t care less about them and has always stacked the deck against those programs. You could maybe still have one loss teams getting shafted but at that point it’s not as obvious.
I wonder if there will be any legal ramifications for this season, like if FSU could sue and win or if corruption could be looked into by the DOJ. Not totally analogous but this made me think of the investigation into FIFA.
