Dang, his chilli is hot! He's only got 19 months to help prepare them for NDSU.
Wow... that's A LOT of bark with no bite.

Target Field will host a college football game this fall.

At least this fan base will be on the other side of downtown.

Drake? Really? They went for the easiest opponent they could get for this game. I realize that this game was scheduled long before this gimic was scheduled but any of the D2 schools in Minnesota would be more of a challenge than Drake football.

This must have been at last minute scheduling to SDSU. Cause I was at reorientation last night for beer vendors at Target Field. And the only non Twins event mentioned was a Pink concert.

Iowa is keeping their OC Brian Ferentz. All other Big 10 schools are rejoicing.
Ferentz was asked about staffing changes and he said, "I anticipate no changes in our staff".
Despite having one of the worst offenses in college football in 2022. They were ranked 130th in total offense and the country’s 123rd scoring offense.
So not the worst.
So not the worst.
The only team worse in 2022...New Mexico and Jerry Kill.
Yeah, Iowa fans and sports writers just can't wrap their heads around this. Even AD Gary Barta was questioned about B. Ferentz and he tried to point to how the offense has improved each year under BF. A writer did the work and the Iowa offense has improved in his first four years as OC...total offense, from 117 to 88 in D1. Then the last two years he got even worse than his first four years...121 and 130.
When pressed about B. Ferentz papa would lump him with DC Phil Parker to say that they were a great tandem. Kirk would NOT talk about BF individually at all. It's frustrating beyond all explanation why BF will continue on as OC at Iowa. It's nepotism at it's worst because Barta won't fire him because he knows that firing one Ferentz means that the other will probably walk.
Most Iowa fans at this point would be completely fine with that problem. We've road the roller coaster of Kirk for over two decades and he has brought plenty of success to Iowa that it shouldn't be that hard to find a really good coach to come in and replace him. I don't want to get to the point where Iowa was with Hayden Fry. Put the coach out to pasture before the program reaches that point again. If Brian Ferentz is the hill that Kirk wants to die on, let it be that. His legacy as an Iowa coach is set but plenty of fans will hold a grudge with him for a couple years after he gets fired if he brings the program down because he won't smack his kid on the head when he is coaching like crap or replace him to right the ship.

For lack of a better thread....what could go wrong? Todd Marinovich Part II? (FYI I don't think he has actual tatts, but the story is true)
He got to meet Olivia Dunn and is too young to appreciate it. LOL.
Honestly this is gross.
"He has been trained and programmed since he was 6 years old."
Dad is pushing for his kid to have CTE before he even know how his body will mature. The kid seems to be barely more than marketing scheme for his dad.
"You have all these pictures of Baby Gronk on college campuses taking visits and doing photo shoots. Who is making contact here? I am curious about how this is all happening.
I do marketing, man. On that end, I can’t give too much because I wouldn’t want to give away what I do. It’s a brand. It’s a movement. I do all of that. I manage everything. I know a lot of people. I have friends who played in the NFL. I have friends who coach in the Power 5. Former teammates from my high school team. I know people who run social medias for a lot companies."

It's absolutely vile what he's doing. Even if, and I mean a big if - he literally wants to set up the kid for the future - I don't know how this won't be a never-ending mind-f**k for a kid that age to have to endure.

More updates on Northwestern football. Some of the events happened during their training camp in Wisconsin. Those events might be worth being forgiven since Wisconsin has a habit for badly influencing people against their will.

Read a rumor today that ASU and Arizona are back in play to the B1G.
Hope the ink on the NaCHo Conference agreement isn't dry yet for the Sun Devils....
The picture cracks me up.
Is there another coach in the league who has the shortened version of his nickname embroidered on his coat (highlighting his playing number), wears a gold chain, and uses gold, diamond-encrusted whistles? I'll give him one thing: he's not short on ego.
If true this really shakes things up.
Lol good lord. Gonna be the big 30 in a decade at this rate.
I don't like that idea one bit.
At this point just keep adding...that will force divisions that will be more regional. A return to the OG Big Ten!

Exactly. Make it so there’s really just the B1G and the SEC. No different than AFL-NFL.
Rumors are hearing up. Now seeing Virginia and North Carolina mentioned. I think some of these pieces are click bait but with Colorado going to the Big 12 I think you're going to see some more movement. It really is looking like a Big 10 SEC power two league is forming
The ACC teams have grant of rights issues so unless the league completely implodes it will be very costly to leave. Always look at those rumors with a side eye.
The PAC 12 is dying and fast so any rumors about where those teams are going I would say are highly believable. It sounds like their TV deal is a joke which means they are one step away from basically being the Mountain West. They lost LA, they lost Colorado, they are about to lose Arizona (or at least part of it) and the San Fran area is begging to leave. We also know Oregon and Washington kicked the tires on the Big Ten as soon as LA said they were out. Its over. Even if they put something together to stop the bleeding within 5 years the Pac 12 will no longer be a P5.

There are real antitrust legal concerns about getting THAT big.
I think 18-24 is the current sweet spot-- and the B12/ACC/Pac-12 will survive as minor majors to avoid any antitrust issues.
The ACC is tied in a major rights-grant contract-- though perhaps ESPN (who owns those rights) might be willing to release them with some movement to the SEC (which also is owned by ESPN). Perhaps if the conference broke apart that would be something, but since neither Clemson nor FSU are AAU schools, it would be a shock to me. Now Miami and UNC? That would be a different story.
List of AAU schools here: https://www.aau.edu/who-we-are/our-members
The GOR is null and void if the conference dies. If the majority (or all) want out the GOR doesn't matter cause the conference ceases to exist. I doubt that happens...but if the big wigs want out they will negotiate something we have seen it before.
And there will never be anti trust action taken. In theory they could do that but much like "coaches will be sued for breach of contract if they leave" it will never happen in practice. The DOJ is never going to take on the NCAA on anything but Title IX.
Not to mention schools have the right to choose what conference they play in. There is no federal right to play in a power 5 conference. They have ability to go Mid Major, Independent or FCS sorry but that doesn't hold water.
I think it is a bit more complicated than that-- if only it were that simple it would already be done! The GOR is here:
If the ACC were to cease to exist, ESPN will sue and (in my opinion,) be successful based on the condition of its agreement with the ACC that all conference members provide this GOR. The conference breaking up would not allow an "out" without ESPN's blessing because of this.
As to antitrust, it isn't the DOJ that would enforce market share regulations but G5 conferences-- like student-athletes did in the Alston/O'Bannon cases. Shutting G5s out of the College Football Playoff and its TV money would almost certainly lead to lawsuits, and those controlling such actions have never faired well in Court (see CFA in the late 1980s).
