Ross Chastain pulls off a video game move to make it to the Championship 4 for the last race at Phoenix next week. Check out this move!
Flush against the wall, reminds me of driving in Ireland!

The day after his son Ty win the Xfinity title, Coy Gibbs passes away. This is the 2nd son Joe Gibbs has lost.

Would be cool if this kid works his way up to Nascar in the next few years since racers from Minnesota are rare. He has a couple of things in his favor. He is in the Joe Gibbs stable and more importantly he has a sponsor with deep pockets.

I was watching that, seeing how insane the flipping was, and said to myself "and he walked away from it" right before they said he climbed out of the car and would get checked in the infield.
With the 5-pt harnesses that the drivers wear, and the HANS restraints to keep the head from whipping around, that kind of event, as bad as it looks, is actually way SAFER than coming to a rapid stop. All that spinning uses up a huge amount of energy, and stops that energy from being transmitted to the body.
Fortunately, it sounds like he's doing OK. Hoping that stays the case and there isn't something hiding that's going to be a problem for him.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
Just saw the intro to the last post "how insane the flipping is..." so had to see what's up.
To add to what Steve MN said, the way the cars are structured, they are (for lack of better phrasing) designed to basically collapse/absorb impacts, which helps immensely.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
Easily considered the voice of Nascar on tv for decades, Ken Squier passed away last night. RIP

Don’t watch F1 but this has to be the most amazing race ever right? It looks crazy racing thru Vegas at night around the Sphere
In theory, but it seems kind of forced. The drivers don't like it. Night time in the desert and the track was way too cold and slippery.
Not to mention the Ferrari that was destroyed by a manhole cover in practice.
Looking to build on the success of F1:Drive to Survive, Netflix produced a new series that launched yesterday called Nascar:Full Speed. It focused on the 2023 Nascar playoffs and the drivers involved. Netflix did two things very smart by having Dale Earnhardt Jr and Ben Kennedy involved as executive producers.
Dale Jr is undoubtedly the most popular figure in Nascar in the last 20 years and Kennedy is the great-grandson of Nascar founder Bill France. Both of them figure in highly to promoting the sport through their different avenues, Jr through his media company Dirty Mo Media and Kennedy as an executive in Nascar.
The show was fun to see some personalities in Nascar, though not as extreme as the ones in F1. Denny Hamlin is made to be the villain that you both can love and hate. Today's Nascar is not the "awe shucks" sport of days past but it still doesn't have the number of personalities of the past like Darrell Waltrip or Dale Earnhardt Sr.
If you like Nascar or motorsports it is an enjoyable watch. I hope that Netflix follows Nascar throughout the 2024 season to make a longer series that can showcase more drivers and teams.

@g-manpuck I have heard great things about this series as well. It is on Netflix, and I don't get that. It will be interesting how the Nascar fans will react to the way they will broadcast races next year. They are having a few on Amazon only in 2025. Now a small rant-- It just annoys me to no end that it seems that whenever there is something I really want to watch, it is on a different streaming platform. There are a few shows on Hulu, Prime, Apple+, and Netflix that I want to see and I don't have any of those services. I have B1G+ and Peacock and really don't want to add anything more until the Diamond Sports thing get figured out.

Tony Stewart was once considered the best racer in the world, as he could step into any car and be competitive. Kyle Larson has taken the reigns now as he steps into an Indy car and qualifies top 5. He will now do the "double" next Sunday-- The Indy 500 and the Coke 600.

Larson really has taken what Stewart did and went next level with it. I don't think Stewart won as much in all the different types of cars he raced like Larson has. It was impressive what Larson did to qualify for the Indy 500 and he had a chance at the pole...that's unheard of for a Indy 500 rookie much less an Indy car rookie.

Stewart-Haas Racing is closing down at the end of the 2024 Nascar season. I'm disappointed that Tony has pretty much lost interest in Nascar, the place that made him a household name. I see him selling his interest in the sprint car team of Donny Schatz as well so he can focus solely on his drag racing teams.
