My guess is Santino Ferrucci doesn't game under his real name.
Huh?
He's a complete asshole and I can easily imagine him dropping racial slurs all the time.
Horrible news about a former F1 driver

One week (four work days) until F1 is back!
I'm super excited because racing is a sport that is less impacted by the fans. When you're in the car you can only focus on the race. So it should be the typical quality of entertainment. Plus, this will be Red Bull's best chance for a championship in years given the shortened schedule and two races in Austria to start the season.
Can't wait.
Mercedes' DAS system is ruled legal. Welp, probably going to be another year of domination. Six years in a row before this one. Hamilton would tie Schumacher with seven.
Welp, Verstappen retires with an engine problem. With a shortened season and as the only potential threat to Mercedes, that means it'll be another title for them.
EDIT: Holy shit the end of the race was insane.
Having watched both the F1 race and the Indy race (from Indy) I have to say, the halo is 100x better looking than the wind screen. Yuck.
An F1 driver tested positive. Ugh. They are supposed to be in a tight bubble.
F1 is a sport little impacted from a TV perspective with no fans (and no stupid fake fan noise). I've been enjoying having it back despite typical MB domination. Hope this stays isolated.
UPDATE:
Perez's replacement will be Hulkenberg, who holds the record for most starts without a podium (177), and suddenly finds himself in a car with a VERY good chance at a podium. Would be an amazing story.

Hulk's a good choice, but I was hoping for someone else.

What a win for Super Max! My sports highlight since Covid started.
I hope no prospective F1 fan watched the Spanish GP today because wow was that one of the most boring races ever.
What a race! My God
I have no idea where or how they're going to pass, but man is it a pretty track:

It will be turn 1 with the help of DRS. That's about it. Still an amazing track.
Well, no real race for 1st, but happy for Albon to finally get his podium.

I felt bad for Bottas. He made advantages for himself every time he was allowed any control, only to have them taken away by factors outside his control.
He got past Hamilton on the start and got to control the safety car restart, only for the race to be red flagged. Then he demanded trying the undercut and different tires only to have Hamilton pit shortly thereafter and put on the same tires.
Credit to Hamilton, he's the best driver in the world and he's in the best car in the world. The combination just makes for boring racing unless he suffers misfortune.
Verstappen is the best driver in the world. If Verstappen is 10.0 at driving and 8.0 with consistency, Hamilton is 9.8-9.9 with driving and 9.8-9.9 with consistency driving in the most advanced F1 car ever made.
Bottas makes too many small mistakes that add up. That's why Mercedes keeps him every year. He's the perfect #2 driver.

What a spectacular crash. Sounds like he only has minor burns on his hands and feet.

Burns on his hands and feet and possible broken ribs.
AND he admits, from his hospital bed, that his resistance to the halo was probably not great in hindsight.
Amazing

Pietro Fittipaldi in for Grosjean at Haas
Hamilton out with the Covid
Russell from Williams to Mercedes to substitute for Hamilton
Jack Aitken up from F2 to sub for Russell at Williams
Mick Schumacher confirmed at Haas for 2021
The race this week is using a different layout of the Bahrain circuit. ( <a href=" https://i.imgur.com/jwVEpz4.jp g" class="bbcode_url">
) Long straights leading into low-speed corners could result in plenty of overtaking... and with two rookies and a newbie in the best car could add up to a race worth watching.
Oh, and the best news is Grosjean is out of the hospital!
Russell P2, <.03 seconds behind Bottas in his first weekend in the car.
In my mind this proves two things. 1) the Mercedes is an amazing car (we knew that already) and 2) There are no slow drivers in F1.
What a race. Russell with his first career points. Robbed of a win, possibly twice. (and he still might lose those points pending investigation due to the team screwing up his pit stop)
Perez with his first win in what might well be his second to last race.
Ocon in second after having sat out a season just a year ago.
EDIT: Stewards have let Russell keep his points, but fined Mercedes 20K euros or pounds or whatever for putting Bottas' front tires on Russell's car during the second pit stop.
Savage Minnesota based JDC-Miller Motorsports currently running in 2nd overall at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
#5 car.
Any dirt bikers on here? Never rode one as a kid. Took it up after street riding for 20+ years. Midlife crisis? I typically go to the Black Hills in the Spring and Fall. It is amazing! I'd like to ride more often closer to home. Let me know if interested in doing that. I'd also like to hear where you've gone and what you think.
First F1 weekend of the year (wherein you still have hope someone other than Hamilton can win a title)

Morning to night sports for three days and I love it
Go Verstappen
The FIA needs to install sprinklers at every track then use them at random during F1 races to make them interesting.
I will reiterate my call for the FIA to install sprinklers at every track. The race today was pretty fun to watch after Bottas took out pretty much all of the contenders except his teammate.
Oh, and they're going to DQ Vettel after the race too...
Kyle Larson is the biggest name on four wheels this year. In NASCAR he has won 5 points races plus the All Star race, 3 wins were in a row. On dirt he is still as dominate as his 46 win sprint car year of 2020 with 10 wins in 2021 in a 410 sprint car including the two biggest races of the year in The Kings Royal and then last night at the Knoxville Nationals. He also started the year with his second consecutive win at the Chili Bowl racing a midget sprint car.
It would be hard to dispute that he is the best driver in the US right now on dirt or asphalt. He has reupped my interest in racing singlehandedly.

I don't know, after watching the last 4 laps of the NASCAR race on the Indy road course today, I don't think anyone affiliated with NASCAR at any level can be considered a good driver.
Here's a guy who was just assessed a stop&go penalty for cutting the track spinning the leader.
The halo very likely saved Lewis Hamilton's life today.
There are rumors Mario Andretti is buying Sauber and will give Colton Herta the last remaining seat for next year in F1.
This is by F1 standards... Insane. No American full time in F1 since Scott Speed in 2007. Alexander Rossi started five races in 2015.
For people of my age, the Indy 500 was one of the most anticipated events of the year and Al Unser Sr was one of its stars.

I will readily admit that the Indy 500 was more recognizable to me than the Daytona 500 in the 80's. The Unsers were more know to me than Petty or Earnhardt. Things flipped for me in the 90's but I did enjoy CART in the 80's with Unser and Mears leading the way.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My top sporting moment as a fan since witnessing 0.6 live.
85-90% of the time, when Mercedes is sitting on their 8 straight Constructors' Championships, and 8 straight Drivers' Championships and complaining that "it's not fair" and "we're being screwed" it's bullshit.
Today it might not be.
Credit to Red Bull. Other than Max's start, the did everything right they could possibly do today.
A legend retires.
Gave some phenomenal interview responses through the years. Loved Kimi.

It's amazing how much fun an F1 race can be when Mercedes isn't just driving away from the field.

This was a fun race.
I wouldn't mind a first Ferrari title since 2008. With Max winning the Drivers of course.
Two weeks, two amazing F1 races!
First of hopefully many victories for #1.
First of hopefully many victories for #1.
Boo! . Max is so whiny..."he's over the line...he closed the gap...so infair". Last week "I'll never listen again". And Christian is such a political dick. Just my two cents...lol. Definitely two fun races, though.
Ty Gibbs bumps his teammate out of the lead on the last lap which ultimately ends in his teammate wrecking out of the race. That ended up knocking his teammate out of the championship final four next weekend in Phoenix. That also let a third JR Motorsports car into the final four. Oh...and just for a little added bonus for drama next week...that teammate that Ty Gibbs bumped/wrecked...Brandon Jones is moving to JR Motorsports for 2023...but he may be a fourth JR Motorsports team member in Phoenix after Gibbs cost him a spot in the final four.
A simple pleasure from the post race...fans at the track trolled Ty Gibbs in victory lane chanting "Thank You Grandpa"...referencing the fact that Ty is the grandson of Hall of Fame NFL Coach and car owner Joe Gibbs. Another side note of the douche level of this kid, watch his victory lane interview where he makes a comparison to a historical figure.

He is by far the most hated driver in the sport today. He has wrecked pretty much everyone in the XFinity series this year. Even in the Cup series while filling in for Kurt Busch, he has caused problems. A couple of weeks ago he tried to wreck another driver on pit road and it was very close to hitting a crew member. I predict that next year the Cup drivers will put him in his place and I have a feeling that he may get his behind kicked by a few of them. The old guard, Harvick, Kyle Busch, and even his team mate Hamlin will not put up with his BS.

Ross Chastain pulls off a video game move to make it to the Championship 4 for the last race at Phoenix next week. Check out this move!

It’s fun to watch that. Way back in the day (early 2000s) my friends and I played NASCAR 2001 and would pull that off on each other all the time. Well, anytime we weren’t going the opposite direction and causing carnage, that is.
