So, reviewing mid-game will destroy his integrity and ability to officiate a game. And how long will that self doubt last? or does it depend on when he realizes he made a mistake? No, but he will re-think his decisions from that point forward.
It will last the game, until he can review said game and adjust for future games.
But, reviewing after the game is what will actually restore his ability?

Yes. It's called learning from your mistakes. You make a mistake in-game, which is a contained situation. The next game is a different contained situation. The tricky part about reffing is keeping your calls within that situation.
When you tell somebody somethin', it depends on what part of the United States you're standin' in... as to just how dumb you are.
I used to work with a H.S. ref, who became the head ref for the youth/HS refs. He was the most inconsistent ref. My buddy who coached and knew most of the youth coaches said nobody thought he was good. And if a coach complained too much he appeared to call retaliatory calls. (He had big ego and thought he knew everything and never thought he was wrong about anything.) In winter, a group of us would often take a break around the same time in the morning and sports was a frequent topic. Anytime someone mentioned what they thought was a bad call by a ref, this guy would defend the call if he had seen it, regardless of how bad it was. And I'm not talking just HS games, but Wild or whatever. If I recall correctly, even NFL games. It was like he could not admit any single ref made a wrong call or he might not appear infallible. I would have liked to have heard how he defended the Brodin tripping call. And I guarantee he never apologized for a call he made.
Just remembered a ref apology story some might like. Buzzy Christianson (WCHA ref) is from Grand Rapids, same as Grant Bischoff. Because of this, Buzzy wouldn't call penalties on Grant. then one time, Grant committed a penalty (can't remember for sure, but thinking a trip). Buzzy called it. When he saw it was Grant, he went over to him and apologized for the call and said he saw the trip but didn't realize it was Gran when he raised his hand. That apology was immediately after the call was made.
They just mentioned on the Wild game that the Wild told Wallstedt to get a full time apartment in MN because they want him up with the big club and getting NHL experience.Between Minnesota and Iowa, the Wild played 5 games in the past 4 days. Jesper Wallstedt played zero minutes. How does that make any sense?
Then they go “3” goalie rotation and don’t let him see any SOG. Ridiculous.

Admitedly the injuries have not helped. Russo originally said he was going to start tonight before he was sent down so they would actually have a full enough roster to play with both Ek and Spurgeon out.
Real nice turnover Kaprizov forced there that led to Rossi’s goal.

I'm glad Jesper didn't play tonight other wise we wouldn't have gotten to experience the first Wild goalie goal.
Jesper will get playing time but it is hard to take a goal scorer like Gus out of the lineup. 😉
I actually think that 3 goalies was the right move. But, it only works if everyone knows and agrees that Fleury doesn't see the ice until it becomes absolutely necessary. They just mentioned on the Wild game that the Wild told Wallstedt to get a full time apartment in MN because they want him up with the big club and getting NHL experience.Between Minnesota and Iowa, the Wild played 5 games in the past 4 days. Through 4 games the Wild haven't played a second while trailing.
Last Season
Gus - 45 games, 3.06 GAA, .899 Saves %
Fleury - 40 games, 2.98 GAA, .895 Saves %

Only the 15th goalie to score a goal in the NHL (18th goalie goal overall, Brodeur had 3 and someone else had 2). Only 3rd goalie PP goal.
Given the age of the NHL, I was surprised such a small number.
Gus Bus is early story of 24-25 Wild season. 3 quality starts & scores a goal to boot! Only 78 to go at this improved goaltending level.
Multiple thumbs up on this. Put Fleury in the "Break only in an emergency" glass case.I actually think that 3 goalies was the right move. He has been excellent hopefully he can find the play he had going a couple of seasons ago or somewhere in that ballpark.
So much hinges on this season & having a realistic shot at signing Kaprizov next summer. They need competent goaltending to have any shot at a decent season.

Not that surprising when you think about fact that prior to Patrick Roy coaching, teams were way more conservative about pulling goalies. And until relatively recently, teams tended to prioritize avoiding an icing and faceoff in own zone over taking chance at open net with full ice shot, even for skaters. Then you look at how much goalie puck-handling skills have changed in last couple decades, and you can see why there weren't a lot of goalie goals once you go back a few decades. (I haven't looked at goalie goals by decade, or anything like that, but assume this is the case. Who says you have to be correct with things you write on the interwebs, anyways?)

Says none before 1987 (Ron Hextall). So about 0.45/yr prior to 2011 and 0.58/yr since. I think I said "Who says you have to be correct with things you write on the interwebs, anyways?"
I see this includes goals credited when a team scored an own goal and the opposing goalie was last to touch the puck. So only 11 goalie goals were because the goalie had a shot on goal.

Wow, the Wild dropped the hammer tonight. Good to see.

That was a professional performance. Strong goal tending, playing with the lead, smothering physical play, ZERO penalties, and smart defensive scheme to cruise through the third period.
The Wild have the Stanley Cup Champions running/diving around like Peewees.

Wild win 4-2 with Fleuy playing.
This Flyers team is as bad as any team that I can remember. Wild are having a really rough game and the Flyers still can't touch the puck.
Gus is not having a good game saving only 50% of the Flyers shots.
Philadelphia scored twice in the first 4 minutes of game but the Wild out scored the Flyers 3-1 over the last 6 minutes of the second period.
Shots thru two periods are Wild 21-6 score is 3-3.
Both Nick Seeler and Brock Faber have scored a goal.
Wild lose in regulation for the first time this season. Game ends 7-5. Gus gives up 6 goals. Last goal is an empty netter.
Faber fight!
And he held his own.

That Pittsburgh goon tried a few times to get his leg behind Faber’s to get him to go down, Faber just too strong for it. I was impressed.
Faber’s legs are so damn strong.
Either LaPanta or Carter joked it may have been the longest stretch Faber did not play in his Wild career.

Keep your stick on the ice...
missed the game tonight. Was there any response to the Faber fight from Foligno?Faber fight!
And he held his own.
In a nice gesture, Pittsburgh gives Fleury the first star of the game.

The coach said something to Foligno as he took the ice on the ensuing line change but nothing happened. Just a pure guess, but it was probably the coach sending a message.
The Faber-Crosby thing was more of a grab ass deal. I don't think anything would have come of it if not for the dope from Pittsburgh who skated in to fight. Faber didn't land any punches but the other guy didn't do much either.
It's not like Faber is any bigger than Crosby, and they weren't going to fight anyway. Pretty dumb response by Pittsburgh.
the Crosby/Faber part of that scuffle is nothing. Probably should have been coincidentals, but nothing worth worrying about. When the Pittsburgh plug jumps an untouchable player, then it becomes open season on any player in the Penguins lineup, and Foligno needs to do his job. Otherwise there isn't any reason to put him in the lineup.missed the game tonight. Was there any response to the Faber fight from Foligno?Faber fight!

The number of times that I have seen other teams scrubs go after Kaprizov, Boldy, and even Eriksson-Ek without any sort of response from Foligno is getting ridiculous.
Wild 5 Lightning 3 - Lightning has 4 regulation time losses (two vs Wild) this year. KK stayed out for last couple minutes to make sure Wild hit a 2nd empty net!
The Wild almost pull off the hidden puck trick.

From what I read it was a puck that went into the netting earlier and fell out during play.

Two pucks would be a great way to open up space (by spreading out the players), increase excitement (by playing in multiple areas of the ice at the same time) and scoring (shots/scoring chances happening on both ends of the ice at the same time). I like it. 🤣
