Going into today there are only three .300 hitters in the National League (Marcell Ozuna .308, Luis Arraez .305 and Trea Turner .305). Carl Yastrzemski was the lowest batting champion at .301 in 1968. Could this be the first season with a sub .300 average winning the title? Probably not. There are five players in the .290s that could get hot down the stretch.
On September 1st, 1968 Denny McLain won his 27th game of the season. On September 1st of this season the White Sox had 31 wins. The Sox are safe now winning their 32nd game last night, McLain only won 31 that year.
Fantasy baseball championship week and I get the pleasure of facing Ohtani. He only went 6-6 with 3 HRs, 10 RBIs, and 2 Stolen bases in the game today.

Poor managing on your part you should have had your pitchers walk him. 😉
In all seriousness the joy of fantasy sports where great seasons/teams are often ruined by running into a certain opponent at the wrong time.
The Tigers just eliminated Houston sweeping the best of three road series. Detroit went 31-13 to end the regular season and this included losing their last two games against the White Sox after clinching a playoff spot. The Tigers are RED HOT!!!
Houston made the American League Championship series 7 straight years, the World Series 4 times and won it twice. 3 of the 4 ALCS series wins were against the Yankees, and the other was against the Red Sox. The three ALCS series loses were against Boston, Tampa Bay, and Texas.

When the Mets got two on with Alonso coming up, I thought "As a Minnesota sports fan, I've seen this movie before". It just seemed kind of inevitable; unless the Mets went down 1-2-3, it felt to me like they'd win.
No, I do know how I feel - they look like doody. Literally.
I believe the brown and gold colors of the Padres harken back to the Franciscan friars, who the team is named after, but I always thought the original person who came up with the scheme was changing their child's dirty diaper and thought "This is it!!!". The current unis are a definitely an "uhhhmmmm...".
All 4 Divisional Series are tied at 1-1 after Detroit gets a 3 run HR off Clase (the first HR he's allowed to a lefty all year and doubling the number of runs he's allowed at home) and Kansas City wins 4-2 in New York despite Witt going 0/5 for the second game in a row.
The game 2 drama in LA was kinda funny. Profar robbed Mookie Betts of a HR and kinda taunted their fans, who later threw baseballs at him in the 7th inning causing a 10 min delay 🤦♂️. Dodger fans would probably be some of the last I would taunt, just knowing what I know about LA.
IDC that much about either team but that series might be worth watching due to the shenanigans.
Still don’t get MLB popping the champagne after clinching postseason and after each series win. A team can pop the champagne 5 times. NFL, NHL and even the NBA… 1 time.
I have no idea what happened to Cleveland's pitching but the late Soto home run epitomized its failures. Bibee had him set up for a change up or an an outside slider, neither of which he was even coming close to touching. Instead he located a ripe, lifeless slider right down the middle of the plate.
Besides the Minny and Paul logo, the Twins are boring and generic.
Compared to looking like a bunch of monks? 🤣
You can have you personal preference that's fine - but I don't find anything about the Twins through to years to be boring even if I don't always love their main look.
