Astros win game 2.
Umpires take a lot of heat so I felt like this deserved recognition. He was exceptional behind the plate. So far both games have been very well called IMO.

I hope Angel H (to protect his identity) is paying attention.

What are they comparing to to say 100% of balls/strikes were called correctly?
They had an ump on KFAN last week (?) and said the scoring system they use is computer based, and goes through EVERY call, and is quite accurate, way more accurate than the "box" you see on TV. And it IS scrutinized closely, since it could lead to a promotion, or bigger games and such.

Got home in time to see the last out of the game. First combined no hitter in WS history. Second overall no-hitter. Cool.
HOF Greatness eventually prevails "Justin Verlander beamed like a first-time big leaguer, and the Houston Astros feted the 244-game winner like a baby-faced rookie." Astros lead series 3-2 and head home for game 6 (& 7 if necessary). He gutted out 5 innings last night, didn't have overpowering stuff. Something the Twinkies have been sorely missing for 30 years, Largely because Twins owners don't give a flying F--K about winning!
Good for Dusty Baker
Handing championship trophies to non-players is so lame.
Thank You, NHL!

The sound off the bat on this HR is ridiculous. Yordan Alvarez is an absolute freaking stud. They called this 450 feet. I think they meant 540. Just ridiculous. One of my favorite guys to watch hit.
Saw a stat on Twitter that Yordan Alvarez is the only player in postseason history with multiple go-ahead HR in the 6th inning or later with his team trailing in a career. He hit 3 this post-season. Nobody else has even hit 2.
Good for Dusty Baker
Really happy for Dusty.
I don't pretend to be the world's biggest Dusty Baker fan, but I'm almost always happy to see any coach/manager/player/team get off the championship schneid. "Loser" or "choker" are labels that are too easy to lay on someone just because they haven't won "The Big One"...until they do.
RIP Gaylord Perry. Here is a great Sportscenter commercial.

Once again, the Twins just came in a bit short ?

Switch some numbers around:
So, 36 years for $9MM/year? Sound good?

Honestly, I think if Judge pushed, he could've gotten 45-50MM/year. I really do.

What will Correa want now?

The Bogaerts contract is surprising to me. Not in the sense that he got paid that much, but when compared to Turner... I'd take Turner at his new contract before I'd take Bogaerts at this contract.
Interesting that he went to San Diego. They have Machado AND Tatis Jr. (still serving suspension) both capable of playing SS (Machado has played 3B while Tatis was in the lineup). Then they pay Xander 11/280? Guess one of those three will be moved to outfield or 2B when Tatis returns (my guess says Tatis or Bogaerts, not Machado because he's a stud at 3B).
My gut says Correa will get 10/300 based on the Bogaerts deal.
I believe I read that the plan is for Tatis to become an outfielder when he returns from suspension and have Kim play 2B.
If you can throw hard apparently it doesn't matter if you throw it right over the plate. Hitters are use to the ball dipping a little bite but at this speed the ball tends to hold its' plane more causing the batter to not center up the ball (it messes with their eyes). Hitting is a lot about eye/hand coordination but when the ball is doing things different then you are use to you are cooked.

that def should exclude him from hall of fame status.
It is absolutely amazing he got 3,089 hits in MLB when you consider he was 27 when he started. If he would have come to the US earlier he could have had another 5 seasons. For 11 seasons age 27 season - age 37 season every year he had between 206 and 262 hits. If he would have come to the US at 22 years old he would have had a great chance at 4,000 hits. I think it is cool that fans in Japan got to see him play 7 full seasons (and two partial seasons at 18 and 19 years old) in the Japan pro league. I'm sure it wasn't fun for their fans to see their best player leave at 27 years old.
In June of 1974, Nolan Ryan threw 235 pitches against the Red Sox. He made his next start on three days rest and won. Then he pitched 19 more years.

As if they were ever in the running.
Rodon never really hid the fact he wanted to be in NY. He had an interview last spring (AFTER signing a 1 year deal with the Giants) with CC Sabathia where Sabathia said (paraphrasing) "I thought you'd be a great fit in New York but it didn't work out this year" and Rodon said "There's still time". Had the Yankees not upped their offer I'm sure he would have signed elsewhere - he turned down a 5/$125mil deal from them last week - but I suspect it was always Yankees and then everyone else for him.

The Twins should add the Joey Callo leather jacket to their new uniforms. You got to look good to play good.
