I’m pretty upset about Lewis’ injury. Earlier he pulled up and limped to 1st base. Usually, when they pull up like that, they send a team of coaches out to check on them. This time, nothing. In his next at bat, he made the injury worse. I think that if Rocco had been there, they would have checked him out the first time and pulled him out for cautionary reasons.
Apparently the ground out to 1st was his heel, something they have known about. The swing was a hamstring, which is a new injury. Still would have liked to see someone check on him at 1st. He did look like he wanted to stay in the game after the swing, but they trainer would not let him. Hopefully it's something that heals with two weeks rest.

With the Twins off tomorrow the clinch could be on an off day.
Detroit and Cleveland both currently have 81 losses so it would take a Detroit loss tonight against the Dodgers or tomorrow against Oakland along with a Cleveland loss tomorrow against Baltimore.
1969 was a great year. Twins had the third best record in MLB, behind the Orioles and the Mets. Billy always had the self-destruct button at his fingertip, but it would have been interesting had he lasted a couple more years.
Had to go with the #1 who could hit and Nishioka San couldn’t hit MLB pitching or Dave Boswell.

He also weirdly couldn't field... which is important unless your name is David Ortiz. He had like a .960 fielding percentage... I mean even Jeter cracked .975 for his career.

Hope both teams win their games and Twins clinch on their own Friday night at Target Field.
Detroit beat the Dodgers tonight so for the Twins to clinch during their off day both Cleveland and Detroit need to lose. If Detroit beats Oakland and Cleveland loses to Baltimore Detroit takes over second place.
Crazy stat - they also have to wait for the Tigers. Detroit has played 2 fewer games than Cleveland but has the same number of losses. In theory they could end up passing Cleveland.

Starters: Lopez, Grey, Ryan, Ober, Keuchel (he will likely start on Saturday or Sunday) It has been reported Maeda will pitch out of the bullpen this week.
Bullpen: Maeda, Paddack, Varland, Stewart, Funderburk, Jax, Thielbar, Pagan, and Duran
September rosters are 28 players while post season rosters are back to the normal 26 players. I suspect Keuchel will not be on the playoff roster and if they stay with 14 position players one more pitcher will not be on the best of 3 wild card round roster. Regardless of who it is they now have what could be a strong bullpen.
