Buxton is going to have to wind up pretty high on the all-time "Oh, what might have been" list.

I felt the need to post a clip of Mudcat. This was a fun highlight/game. The Twins won game six 6-1 with Mudcat throwing a complete game along with the 3 run homer.

There is a picture of my grandfather (who was an usher) stomping out a grass fire during the World Series. He should have let the fire "accidently" injury Sandy Koufax. ?

Meh.  He hardly plays in the field anymore and his hitting has never been anything special.

Byron Buxton career: .239 / .300 / .468

Marty Cordova career: .274 / .344 / .448

I heard they crowned Mauer today at 5:03, which would equal 4:63 if it was a time.

That's stone cold...

Twins get a great start from Maeda and the bats break out in a big way to win today and take the first two games of the series against Arizona (assuming Moran doesn't blow a 12-1 lead)

Twins win in walkoff fashion today. Thielbar gave up a solo HR in top 9 to give AZ a 3-2 lead. Kepler hit the first pitch of the bottom of the 9th approximately 497mph into the upper deck in right center. Polanco, pinch hitting for Solano, draws a bases loaded walk, then Matt Wallner hits hus first career walk off hit, a HR off the facing of the upper deck to win 5-3.

Edit: ok I guess Kepler's HR was only 110mph. I was close.

Kepler is now better than league average for the season in slugging % and OPS. Not bad to be better than average yet people say you are awful. ?

The Twins have just over half the resources of the Yankees yet have a better record.

The Yankees payroll is 277.0 million.

The Twins payroll is 153.6 million.

The Twins payroll is 17th out 30 teams and they have the 12th best record which shows that the GM, scouts, coaches, and players are doing their jobs above the resources given to them.

And the NYY are 4th place and 12 games out of first in their division, along with only being a half game out of last place in the division. So.....

The first half of the post comparing to the Yankees was to take a shot at them.

The 2nd half of the post is the more important part.

That the Twins staff is good enough to be a 4th place team in a good division? 😉
The AL Central is horrible. The Twins are just less horrible than the rest of the division.

They are 37-39 outside of their division.

With the new playoff format, winning the AL Central gives you a 3 game home series all @Target Field.

They might not deserve it, but they’re going to have a fighting chance.

The Twins went 4-2 against the Yankees. They got swept by Tampa and lost 4/7 to Boston and 4/6 to Baltimore. They do have 3 more against Tampa later this season.

Hey, I love my Twins. I wish them the best, I will not leave the bandwagon. BUT...they are just good enough to make you smile, nothing more, and that's the way it's been. Major kudos to snagging Correa back, and the prospects like Kirilloff and Royce look like blue ribbons, HOWEVER...

The Twins are only 29 - 33 vs teams ≥ .500 (14th in MLB and 7th in the AL) and 30-21 vs teams < .500. They do have winning records vs. the ALW and Interleague.

Their biggest indictment is being only 21-15 vs. the ALC where 4 of the 5 teams are in the bottom ten of MLB for worst WIN%.

Not bad enough to write them off in the playoffs for once, but not strong enough to have too much confidence either.  They have to avoid big injuries and hope to get some guys back before the playoffs.

Pablo Lopez threw 7 shut out innings tonight. He has now given up 2 runs or less in 4 straight starts and 6 of his last 7 starts.

His ERA for the season is down to 3.81

He has had a few clunkers this season that had his ERA elevated but it is now back closer to the past three seasons.

2020: 3.61

2021: 3.07

2022: 3.75

It wouldn't surprise me if he ends the season with an ERA around 3.50

Gallo goes 4 for 4 with two home runs, two singles and a walk!!!

He now has three home runs in the last 4 games.

He was really good in April with an on base % of .349, slugging % of .717, and an OPS of 1.066

The league average for OPS is .730

Gallo now has an OPS of .770 for the season (.305 on base %, .465 slugging %)

He is the epitome of excitement and utter frustration. He can definitely make a ball go far (see second home run today)

Gallo in the post game interview "I didn't appreciate what that mnpuckguy said earlier today on GPL so I had to show him what I can do".

I wouldn't be surprise if the second home run landed in mnpuckguy's backyard. Man did he crush that ball. ?

What is rarer Gallo getting 4 hits in a game or an unassisted triple play. ? He doesn't get many hits but when he does they often go far!!

64% of the time he comes to the plate the fielders aren't needed since he either strikes out, hits a home run, walks or gets hit by a pitch.

126 strike outs

20 home runs

42 walks

2 HBP

298 plate appearances, 254 at bats

Good rebound for the Twins last night, dropping the Phillies 8-1. Lopez throws 6 innings, 0 runs and 4 hits for the win.

So Mr. Gallo read my post on GPL & didn’t like my comments!  He should spend more time in the batting cage & less time worrying about what the fans are saying about him on GPL!  He’s been released by at least 4 teams because he couldn’t hit! He will be released by the Twins at the end of this year & his MLB career will be over!

Okay, he may not have released, but I know that th Yankees & Dodgers didn’t have any interest in re-signing him after his pathetic performance there. I think the same was true with Texas! Let’s face the facts, he doesn’t have the talent to be in the Major Leagues! He’s done.  He should go to Japan if he still wants to play!  To pay a guy $11 million dollars a year to strike out 4 times per game is just wrong!
