Has anyone else’s ballys channel been really glitchy when watching the twins the last two days? I’m trying to figure out if it’s the channel or my cable. They recently re-did our cable (and f’ed it up).
I haven’t been seeing this on other channels.
I have not noticed it on DirecTv, but others also seem to have issues.

Not that I was watching intently, but didn't notice nor hear about glitches at LTD today during the game. I believe they have Direct TV

No problems on Comcast. See a pattern….?
Buxton hits a 2 home run in the 5th and now in the 7th makes a nice catch starting a triple play.
When are runners going to learn? Balls don't hit the ground when Buck's in center field. :dup:
#MNTwins just got three outs on a ball that had an expected batting average of .820. It made the mistake of being hit near(ish) Byron Buxton.— Aaron Gleeman (@AaronGleeman) July 5, 2022
How does a ball have an expected batting average? Is that a thing now?!

Probably. Analytics is ruining sportsball.

Well, I was unsure at first how we scored when the first batter up got a hit. ?♀️
Still can’t keep up with all the changes, as I rarely get the chance to watch a game these days. (I just forgot about that dumb rule).

Based on how hard the base was hit, the angle it left the bat, and it's direction. Very few center fielders have the speed to get to that ball hence it having an expected .820 batting average. This is also why the runners ran without tagging up they thought there is no way he is getting to this ball.

That ghost runner at 2nd base to start extra innings will sneak up on you. #FearTheGhostRunner 😉

Expected batting average isn't something analytics uses to manage/impact the outcome of the game. It's more or less a way to show either insanely good defense (in this case) or extremely unfortunate hitting.
It combines exit velocity, launch angle, and in some cases, sprint speed. It then compares those numbers to similarly hit/sprinted balls. Historically, balls hit that hard and with that launch angle have resulted in the batter hitting .820. That's all it is.
So when Johnny Sportsfan at the game says "Any other centerfielder and that ball lands for a double" he's basically right. XBA is just used to show it.

I hate that they carried the "start with a runner on 2B" rule from the COVID year forward. It is stupid as hell.
I'm still waiting for the GRIT factor to come into play. 😉 Just sayin'.

ooc - are they measuring sprint speed of the batter or outfielder?

For XBA they are measuring sprint speed of the batter (usually on ground balls hit into the hole where an infielder makes a diving play or whatever).
There is a stat for outfielders called route efficiency (rarely talked about, except in cases like the play Buxton made) that factors in outfielder sprint speed.

The turtle is FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ahead in that stat.
As far as I know, he's still on the MIA roster. Spot-duty, of course, but he was hitting .275 or so last I checked.

Just look at this Work Ethic!!! Is there anything he can't do? 😉

The Marlins released him last week and some in Twins Twitter said we should pick him up to be a relief pitcher. :dup:
Pagan now has wins in his last two outings and Duffey has 7 straight scoreless outings totaling 10 innings.

The Twins have blown 11 saves in 29 opportunities. 13 teams have blown as many or more - Tampa leads the majors in blown saves with 17.
The article doesn't clarify this, but I am guessing they are taking a "blown save" as up by 3 or fewer runs from the 7th inning on.

Until I read the latest post about Pagan and Duffey, I would have agreed. I mean, given the universal DH rule now, he HAS to be better (and cheaper) than SOMEone out there...

After watching that video, I didn’t realize he had pitched that many times for us!
but that 25.6 feet per second sprint speed….wheee!
what is Buxton’s for comparison?

IIRC he was clocked at like 30.9 f/s on an infield single last season. Sano was clocked as high as 28.9 f/s in 2020.

Sorta met Joe Closer once, at Toby Keith's. Karlsson said he saw him, bought him a shot, and I was googly-eyed, BUT kept my composure, and saw him, and said, "Sup, Joe?" He gave me a nod. I melted a little inside. Yes, I internally fan-boyed.

I think he was a regular at TKs. I’ve heard rumors more than once he was a ladies man, though married. Kinda lost his star status in my eyes after that.

I also heard that rumor, but that night, he was just a regular person. He (and his group) were shushing people away. He just wanted to hang out there. TK's had to put security on the alcove he had, b/c of all the fans. He disliked that attention, just wanted to be a reg customer, but obv that was NOT happening.

Arraez, Buxton and Correa go a combined 1-13 last night, and the Twins win by 6 runs. Just how they drew it up.
Pagan needs to go!! He blows another lead today! Can’t be trusted anymore. He’s cost the Twins multiple games already this year!!

Weird he didn't need to go when he picked up back to back Ws while throwing 28 pitches across 2 innings.
Those were the first runs he's allowed to a non-Cleveland team since June 2nd.
Is he an absolute lockdown ace reliever? No. He went through a garbage stretch of games against Cleveland the last couple weeks. He's been good to very good against every other team in the league. Last week he gave up 10 runs (9 earned) to Cleveland in 2.1 IP. Across the entire rest of the season, including today, he's allowed 10 runs (8 earned) in 26 IP.
I wish they could block the sound of the idiot who won’t stop yelling at the top of his lungs for EVERY batter.
I can’t imagine having to listen to him at the game.
Lol. The Twins take a lead and the pitchers immediately give it back.
Leads given up in the 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th innings.

If Rob. Chip & Ernie cared 10% as much about winning as Craig Leopold, the Twins would have competent pitchers! But they (literally) don’t give 2 sh-ts about the Twins ever winning another WS title. Even if they make the playoffs from the God awful Central Division, they’ll lose in the 1st Round of the playoffs. It’s summer entertainment, especially now that the Stanley Cup has been hoisted (until start of September) but not much more, it’s kinda sad…

Which big money bullpen move would you have made that they didn't?
The Twins team has a 3.66 ERA this season, good for 8th best in MLB and 0.02 runs behind 6th place.
How is that an incompetent pitching staff?
