As @SkiUMahLaw can attest Mankato West's regular season schedule is a grinder now so they will be battle tested before getting to section play. Don't buy the hype on McAnnich or Smith, they are above average players but not other worldly. Phillip Nelson and Mehki Collins are two players at those positions that were better players.
Smith has speed over Collins but Collins ran better routes and had better hands, but neither blocked for the run that well. Fleck will find that out when Smith gets on campus. Nelson just could do everything better than McAnnich, McAnnich is an average to good throwing QB in a running offense where he is the third best running QB out of the last three QB's Mankato has had.
Anyway, I am biased to my son's class that just graduated but they were a damn talented team that the coaches didn't believe would do what they did last season. Now those same coaches believe that this current class is going to duplicate what the previous two did...that is a tall, tall order to place on this class.

I'll just say that I am dang glad to not see the Scarlets on our schedule!
(Hopefully see them at our scrimmage though!!!)
Wow.....just saw the highlights from the Edina-Centenial 5A game, amazing finish.
Edina scores with less than 20 seconds (2 TDs in the last 3-4 minutes) left to bring it within one and they went for two. Stuffed at the goal line. Reminded me of the Blaine-Cretin game in 1988 (?) when future Gopher goalie and Blaine QB Tom Newman converted a last second two pointer to win the game.

Jeez, I was watching that one and turned it off at 28-14.
The 6A final was an epic final seconds.

Happy for Chanhassen taking down St Thomas Academy in the 5A final on Saturday.

You have to hand it to St. Thomas to rally when down 2 touchdowns in the second half to even get to overtime. I am sad it ended the way it did, but c'est la vie.

You do, I only watched the first half and Chan seemed to have the game in hand. You can't count out the Cadets though, they are usually as good as the second half made them out to be.

Edina won both boy’s and girl’s state hockey championships. Now Minnetonka wins both the boy’s and girl’s state basketball championships.

Not the two I prefer but good on those Skippers!!
Minnetonka is clearly a basketball school. 😉
