@gator only 8 teams can have a Top 8 SOS so yeah the majority of the rest will be a SOS that is lower than 9. It's still not the toughest schedule in the state. 😀 😉
I meant to say "one of"... ohhhhhhh it's water under the bridge. I'm surprised I didn't save this site by Lee Pagen when you replied back at the start of the season. It has some very useful info.
Lets hope those plucky kids from Mendota Heights are up to the challenge.

The kids "from" Mendota Heights were beaten 7-1 by a bunch of ringers. 😉 😮
Sorry, but we can't have the high school tournament without this controversy coming up. 😀
I always forget the pecking order, but I think it goes something like this. Its the time of year when the North hates the Metro, the Metro hates private schools, and everyone hates Edina.

I'm like STA for hockey... yeah, make fun of them. Though they bring their A game. And for private schools I rather have them over CDH. Plus seeing all the cadets in their uniforms is cool, organized and professional.

The Cadet fans definitely add something to the arena experience.
I can say it is strange walking to the rink not surrounded by people in uniform, but that all goes out the window once your in a big group. Then its more fun.

FTFY
How far into the Tourney until we see a “Where’s Hermantown” sign… lol!!!

Do they bus some students down? Like the band and Jr. High’ers? Though it is interesting see groups of 2-5 walking up to the ‘X’ and around the concourse. It doesn’t seem like that many… though when the Cadets take the ice, the student section is packed.

They do have a bus that brings the band and stuff down. Most students drive, which leaving the X after these games is fascinating how bad some of these HS aged drivers are. ha!

I’m curious what new props and poses will be on display for player intro’s😂 last year someone modeled a toothpick. Who loses an edge at the camera, beards, stash’s and the obvious hair contest is always entertaining to me.😂
I don't recall if it was a regional final or at state, but when the STA fans did the "parting of the Red Sea" bit about a dozen years ago it was very cool.

my all time favorite has to be the kid from cathedral that totally took out the camera guy 😂

it’s been done a lot… You can find YouTube clips out there of a student dressing up as Moses and taking his staff and he split the student body and runs up the steps and down the steps.
Sec. 1 Championship: #2 Lakeville North vs. #1 Lakeville South... not a shocker, though I was pulling for Farmington and a certain defenseman.
Sec. 2 Championship: #4 Holy Family vs. #2 Shakopee... one will be a first-time participant at State.
Sec. 3 Championship: #2 Cretin-Derham Hall vs. #1 St. Thomas Academy
Sec. 4 Championship: #2 Stillwater vs. #1 Hill-Murray
Sec. 5 Championship: #3 Champlin vs. #1 Rogers... As I mentioned last night, 5AA will either be a first timer at state (Rogers) or Champlin who has one appearance back in 1995.
The broadcast of the 7A semifinals from Amsoil was great. Better than some of the Gopher game streams. Actually some of the little schools up north are playing section games in better venues than the metro teams. Too bad they can't come close to filling them.
Hibbing vs Cloquet Wednesday night should be a barn burner.
I just got back from the game. Amsoil was packed, and you were right. 4-3 Hibbing in OT.
I shouldn't have used the word better. Nicer newer fancier talking about the Little Ralph and Amsoil. The Little Ralph is amazing, makes Ridder look like Fryberger. Ridder would be awesome and of course Braemar but really any arena that you can get close to filling is great.
I didn't even see your previous post! I was posting about the move back to campus and away from Braemar / BIG (Bloomington).
Ridder is awesome for viewing and for playing. Great site lines, acoustics, great ice it is first class. If they aren't going to go back to the double headers at Mariucci this is good option. Last night was full between Wayzata and Edina.
It would be nice if they did the same for the Section 2AA & 3AA. Shakopee and Holy Family is at Braemar tonight and sold out a couple days ago. They would have filled Ridder.
I was lucky enough to play in a section final back when they were at Mariucci and the experience of playing in a bigger venue each round (R1 local, R2 Braemar, Final Mariucci) was a really cool experience for players, fans and parents. And coming down and bussing into campus for the final was a never forget experience.
St. Cloud Cathedral wins 5A… Going to StP to defend their championship.
Huge surprise the way Cathedral went through the section just steamrolling a good LF team and Monticello. Monticello was previous number 1, started 13-0.
Cathedral had lost to LF, Hibbing, Northern Lakes and Hermantown during the regular season and now they turn it on.

Even the tunnels and locker rooms at the little Ralph are awesome. I think they have 8 locker rooms down stairs and each have individual lockers for the players and also a shower room. My kid played a tourney there and players could leave their equipment all weekend in their own lockers. The tunnels below have huge murals and they have a nice gym downstairs for workouts. No expense was spared.
