I believe the woman's WCHA tourney is at Ridder the same weekend as the HS tourney. Between that and the chance of MN men hosting a series the same weekend The U had to step away from the consolation games.
That would make sense that they decided that there would be just too much traffic/ stress on the ice staffs for the weekend. Guessing with MN not hosting the last few years it hasn't been as bad, but it looks like a very good chance it happens this season.
I vaguely remember there being a few ice issues the last time MN played 1st round games, but that also could have been due to the fact that the temps were weird with only about 1000 people in the damn arena...
Also have to factor in practice and morning skate times for the college teams.

From what I have heard from the MSHSL circles, the U is not as easy to work with for those games. The games are kind of afterthoughts and require a significant security presence for sometimes 20% of the building, so I get it from the U perspective.
Moving to Aldrich is as much for the convenience of the MSHSL as to relieve pressure on the UMN staffs.
“The Rink Live” is saying that Minnetonka vs. Wayzata (boys) can be streamed HERE for free tonight at 7:00.

C'mon....we all know the real reason for the move to Aldrich.......in case WBL makes it out of section 4AA, they'll have a closer drive to their 2nd game. 🙂
Great game between Wayzata and Tonka. I think it's clear that this year there is no prohibitive favorite. I don't know about the depth beyond Tonka/Chan and Way/Edina, but Tonka can be beat despite their record.

That Lake Conference is stacked this year. The Finals and semi-finals in those regionals should be fantastic to watch.

Such a stack conference and split into 2 sections. The top 5 teams in the state are in the Lake and split into 2 sections. I wonder if theyll ever split them into 3.

Been a while since I’ve attended the state tournament. How do tickets work nowadays exactly?
Class A: All tickets at at the window. Some lines, but it goes fast. And you can buy tickets online day of.
Class AA: If you're not a season ticket holder, you have to stand in line or find tickets on the secondary market.

All season tickets are electronic and through the Wild app. Just an FYI if you're perusing the secondary market.
Do you want my consolation tickets? 🤣

My prediction for sections…
1AA: Lakeville South (1)
2AA: Minnetonka (1)
3AA : Rosemount (2)
4AA: White Bear (2)
5AA: Maple Grove (1)
6AA: Edina (2)
7AA: Grand Rapids (1)
8AA: Roseau (2)

Wayzata and Edina played an interesting game yesterday at Braemar.
Edina had 7 power plays while Wayzata had 1 power play yet the shots on goal were 24-24.
Clearly it wasn't a one sided game where one team needed to take a lot of penalties to stop the other team.
Edina not getting more shots on goal with that many power plays is interesting. Obviously, Wayzata did a great job being even on shots playing so much of the game short handed.
Wayzata won 4-3 in OT.
Jackson Nevers scored two goals for Edina (one of them on the power play).
6AA is an absolute juggernaut this year. Three of those teams would be the #1 seed in multiple sections. 2AA is strong too with Eden Prairie taking the 4th seed with strong years from Minnetonka, Chanhassen, & Shakopee.
I think the smart money will be on the western suburbs this year.

Agree… the smart and big money will be on 2AA or 6AA.

I can't wait to watch the 8AA games. Unlike almost every other season, Moorhead is not a sure thing.
Many believe this is Roseau's last shot at playing in the AA state tournament.

Is Roseau dropping to A or the future looks dim?

I don't know what will happen. They had one Bantam team this season, they were designated A.
Let me tell you, one Bantam team is tough. It's what you always want to stay above if you're a smaller association (say around 200 participants). I've seen an association end up with 17 skaters 4 goalies. A couple of the skaters were Tier 1 talent a few were lower level B2 players. You better hope there's an association near enough in a similar situation you can coop a B team with or it's a tough road.
Roseau varsity has been a bit up and down this season with a few curious losses. They've split with Moorhead and lost to Wayzata 5-4. I believe in that game they lost a first line player to a season ending injury. Correct me if I'm wrong.
South is not looking great right now. Lost 3 of their last 5, 4 of the last 6 and they barely beat Eagan (5-4) and Farmington (2-0) in the 2 wins. Look for someone else to come out of Section one. Century/Jm or Owatonna could upset South. My prediction for sections…
1AA: Lakeville South (1)2AA: Minnetonka (1)

When is the last time a 6 seed has made it to the tourney?? Last time Farmington beat North, now 4-33 all time against them after their win on Saturday, they went to State. Need a good run to make it. Goalie for the Tigers is getting hot at the right time too.It would be nice to see a new non Lakeville school come out of 1AA… someone like Farmington. I want to see that soph stud defenseman they have.
Edina and Benilde will be playing at Bloomington this Saturday in the 6AA section semis. Going to be a crazy atmosphere. If anyone knows how/where to get tickets, I would appreciate any insight.
For sections I think you need to check with the venue directly. I read somewhere that getting section tickets can sometimes be problematic in that they sell very quickly. But from the BIG website: https://www.bloomingtonmn.gov/big/bloomington-ice-garden
Tickets for hockey games, tournaments, figure skating events and other activities at Bloomington Ice Garden are generally available for purchase in one of three ways:
Really wish they’d bring back the 2AA and 6AA finals at Mariucci. Much easier to get tickets and access.

It’s had its years. I can’t recall w/o looking it up. Mariucci was packed, not a seat to be found. And the concourse was several deep. If I recall with schools moving sections, it was BSM/Tonka and Edina/EP. It was several years ago. Probably Pauly’s first year at BSM after leaving Tonka. At work now, have to wait to get home to confirm.

Regarding the Bloomington Ice Garden 6AA semis:
Sounds like there is a presale code that goes live on Friday morning for the teams/schools involved in the games Saturday.
All the remaining tickets will go online Friday at 2pm via this link:
Attendance for the double-header at Mariucci took a nosedive during the years 35W was under construction. I went to a few before that when it was SRO.
Not sure if they'll ever go back to it, but I think they should give it a shot one year to see if they if they can return the magic.
Back in my day 🤣 the Section 2 and 6 finals double-header on Saturdays at Met Center was a glorious time to be a west-metro student or even just a h.s. hockey fan. Although for my senior year they wouldn't let us tailgate even though all we had was a mini-Weber and soft drinks.
Back in your day… did ride in a horse and carriage up hill in the snow both ways… 😉

Hoping in the near future we meet again for more than just a few minutes at BWW.

Looking back through all my State Tourney programs… I’m pretty sure it was 2008.
2AA: Edina 4-3 (OT) vs. Burnville
6AA: Benilde 3-2 vs. Minnetonka
BTW… I really miss the tournament programs. Looking up players records isn’t the same on your i device. Lots more of a hassle, than just flipping a page.

Sounds like Faribault only dressed 12 skaters and a goalie tonight in their Section 1A vs. Red Wing.

For the players not playing or the ones playing?!?!?!
I just found out why they are not playing… talk about a hard core wow.

With Roseau and Sartell down in 8AA, feels like Elk River is the only team in Moorhead's way for another berth.
And, Fairbault won... 7-2
Edit: Not sure why they'd have only dressed 12. I did see the news about the car crash the other day, but that would only have been 3 players affected?
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?

I was wondering the same thing. Even with 3 players out, they are still missing up to 5 players.

Any how, Faribault gets 1 seed for 1A, Northfield next.

Unbelievable upset in Roseau. St. Cloud is not a good team neither is ER. Smooth sailing to St. Paul for Spuddy.

I was there as well. Tonka was 24-3 going into that game and iirc beat both Edina and BSM during the regular season. Pissed me off.

I saw the shots in the Roseau vs St. Cloud game were 43-10 in favor of Roseau. Not like they put in a crap effort.
