Might be a long night at the bank with weather delays.

For the first game or for the season? The first game they give free tickets to all the freshman. It's usually the most packed student section all year.
Will be interested to see which of these is closest. Looks pretty certain that there will be a line that comes through, it's the severity and exact timing that remains to be seen.Might be a long night at the bank with weather delays.

The nerdy details:
Cold front coming out of the Dakotas mixing with very warm and moist air over western MN should trigger the storms early afternoon, fueled by the higher temps today.
Looking at the Storm Prediction Center T-Storm forecast, the line shown in the forecasts above is in the 70% chance of thunderstorms as it passes over the cities. (70% chance is the highest that forecast model goes) There are three of them that cover different portions of the day, with the 3-7 PM CT showing it right over the cities, and the 7-11PM version showing the range just east, so, while all three of the channels in the tweet shown have different timings, all are quite reasonable. I'd guess that channel 9 with the 6:00 PM is the best bet, but I wouldn't put much money down on that, it all depends on how fast the cold front passes over.

My niece thinks storms will hit around 7PM and will be strong but short lived.

I was personally thinking a little earlier, but, I know better than to suggest she's wrong. I'm just a semi-knowledgeable amateur in this stuff, she's the pro. Edit: Watching the cell up between Elk River and Monticello right now. Definitely some energy out there to feed storms.

For the first game and I'm not positive they give the freshman free tickets anymore, but I could be wrong on that.
Kickoff pushed back to 8PM.

Quentin Redding still returning punts for the Gophers. Truly mind boggling.
3rd and goal from the 9. PJ Fleck decides to run the ball.
And the Gophers then miss a 27 yard FG
This team looks very 2023 so far.
The only thing almost as pathetic to watch as Gopher 🏀 is Gopher 🏈 Returning kicker just donked 28 yard FG. lmao!
Get to work on that APR!
Darius Taylor raking in the NIL money sitting on the sidelines.
I am very unimpressed.
Maybe I was too hard on Rob Wenger? 🤣

So far the Gophers lead the league in missed tackles.

2nd half of the 2nd quarter was better.
This 2nd half is terrible. Need a Walley turnover badly. This huge Oline of ours is not getting anything going.
I thought maybe this was a clip from "Gopher Football: Predator".Solid!

I thought at the end it looked like he was squatting to take a poo in the woods….
the unis look good on tv, I like ‘em!
Why can’t we have nice things.
Knew that was coming the moment they stopped going for the end zone.
Hard to find many positives from the game tonight. Brosmer looked brutal IMO. Special teams an embarrassment again. I cannot believe Redding is taking the kickoffs/punts. What does he have on PJ?

Well, I hope Brosmer gained enough confidence in that last drive to loosen his game up more. I thought he played too tentatively.
Losing due to missed FGs is tough, no doubt.
The secondary played well. That’s all I’ve got. Otherwise this team looks same or worse than 2023. No run game, no oline push, terrible STs, DL was average, QB play was Athan level until that last drive.
Have two games to figure it out. Should be runaway wins.
Gophers Out-Miscue Tar Heels to Steal the Loss.
That early missed chip shot was a bad omen. Some kickers come back from that and others fold like a cheap suit. Our guy was in his own head on that last FG, but it never should have been that close. Their kicker was butter; our's was not.
What galls me is that they marched right down the field for the game-winning FG with a second-string QB. He got lucky that Minnesota blew the coverage on his one completed floating pass, but the Minnesota run defense got owned. That was embarrassing.
The new guy running the offense had a bad turnover tonight and otherwise looked mediocre when he wasn't dropping the football.
Ran into GPL lurker Jack tonight at the stadium... was one of the highlights next to the Parlour Burger.
Tough loss for this team, but not surprising considering how many new pieces are in place for them. I think Brosmer learned quite a bit during the game and team struggled for consistency. The Minneosta kicks weren't off by much and UNC's just found their way between the uprights. At least we dodged the rainstorm which stayed to the south, southeast, east throughout the game.
2 missed FGs by an all-conference kicker and their best offensive player didn't suit up but Fleck....
If you get some yardage there with a run that they aren’t expecting (say 5-6) you set up an easier fourth and goal, idk if running the ball there is the end of the world. Pretty sure that was early in the game? Unless I’m remembering the wrong moment.Ridiculous.
https://twitter.com/gopherhole/status/1829382393259556929?s=46&t=UtlPiq7Vt1Te97QT76L7LQ
To me the biggest issue with the offense over the years is that it’s kinda predictable. The run plays are always power runs with zero misdirection, the pass plays are pretty basic but can work with the right talent (it’s been a minute since 2019 when they had that).
I didn’t watch the game super closely and kinda forgot it was today so I missed much of the first quarter. Losing by two after missing an extra point of a field goal is rough though, obviously there was more to the game than that but that’s such free points that they missed out on in a game where the margins were slim.
Idk, my expectations for gopher football are not that high so hopefully they continue to improve and win the games they can/should and pull off an upset somewhere along the way.
Also your QB fumbling basically at your own 20 isn't a recipe for success.

Patrick Mahomes would have got crushed with that pass protection from the O-Line It was pure trash

You think PJ is going to go for it on 4th and 4 or 4th and 5? I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

Fair point. I’ll stand by the fact Brosmer looked bad until the last drive. That’s just my opinion.
Whoever was in charge of the fireworks last night might have to start updating their profile on Indeed.
Idk why else you’d run it there other than thinking your QB sucks which you also mentioned. There’s no real point in forcing a bad throw there and giving up what should’ve been free points. If you get some yardage there with a run that they aren’t expecting (say 5-6) you set up an easier fourth and goal, idk if running the ball there is the end of the world. Quentin Redding still returning punts for the Gophers. Truly mind boggling.
You recruited a 4-star DB who is also very great at returning kicks and you leave him on the sidelines. It obviously wasn't injury because he was able to run down the field on kickoffs (unless it was another #3). Put Koi Perich on the field and let him cook. The first punt went up and Redding let it drop to roll another 20 yards. Unbelievable.

Bingo. It is truly impressive incompetence.
I thought Brosmer looked OK. He was obviously a little amped up early missing high on a couple throws on the first couple drives which is probably to be expected with the national TV game etc. He was also getting pressured on basically every dropback in the first half which is not ideal considering our OL is supposed to be really good. The UNC defensive coordinator was sending pressure from a whole bunch of different angles and our OL seemed lost early.
As the game went on it felt like he settled in a bit and the last drive was promising - he had a couple great throws and a huge scramble on 3rd down to pick up the first down. The frustrating part to me is they took 3 "deep shots" which resulted in a catch and 2 defensive PIs against Jackson, but they only threw it deep 3 times. I think it was in the third quarter, Brosmer had a man WIDE OPEN in the middle of the field on a go route because the CB fell but Brosmer had happy feet and didn't see it. Would have been a free touchdown.
Defensively I thought they played mostly well, although the last drive was brutal and they took a couple dumb penalties to let UNC extend drives (including one that cost us a turnover on the UNC 10 yard line). They were able to get after the QB a few times and Justin Walley's interception was an outstanding play with a great return.
Ultimately this team is still built around the run and when the best player on the team is on the sidelines it's hard for me to get a read on things. They need to get Taylor healthy and get him to stay healthy. The kid is an absolute gamechanger but his lack of availability so far in his career is frustrating. Hopefully whatever injury held him out is resolved ASAP. Marcus Major looked pretty solid last night but he's a step below Taylor IMO.
Kesich is a very steady kicker usually and was great last year. Hopefully he bounces back from last night. Those two kicks looked like they were dead in the middle of the uprights off his foot and just snap hooked as they got closer to the goalposts.
Not a cloud in the sky today why do they have all the lights on at Huntington Bank stadium?
Aloha!
KOI!!!!!!!

Nice win. Like that PJ went against his norm of just grinding at the clock from the first possession and let Brosmer chuck the pigskin around. 30 pass attempts from Brosmer and true freshman Drake Lindsay got to throw the ball around and the defense was lockdown (as they should be against an inferior opponent).
Offensive line needs to clean some stuff up still but this was a good "get right" game after a frustrating end to the UNC game.
the uniforms we wore against RI are probably my favorites. Maybe an all time favorite combo.
