In the latest The Athletic roster predictions, they have three Gophers playing in Ottawa.
Mathew Wood for Canada, and Brodie Ziemer and Oliver Moore for the US.
Hopeful that Matthew Wood plays against Michigan State
Is Rinzel eligible?
Makes sense. I thought he was eligible so I was obviously surprised he didn't get an invite.

IIRC, Fantilli missed the series vs the Gophers a few years ago because of a similar situation. One could only hope since he is a returning player that Canada will allow him to come in on Sunday, but with Canada I have my doubts.

Without reading the article I can tell you Rinzel is too old. Wood who knows if he makes it or not, it's simply that writers projection. Wood is in the camp trying out though.
Ziemer and Moore make the squad.

How we feeling chat - I assume Canada & US are favorites but I gotta admit its not bad to see the Swedes or Finns win every now and then... would've been neat to see the Czechs win a few years back.
While I want the US to win in am okay with Canada, Finns, and Swedes. It kind of depends on how the teams play. Teams that play dirty can go home.
I just love the tournament!
Will any practice games be available to stream?
I received a text msg. about World Jr. tickets for 2026. Packages run $2,700 for lower bowl and $3,500 for on the glass. Again this a was forward text msg.

I will watch on TV since I believe there would be a very LOW chance of us getting credentialed.
Just not worth the price for me. We'll see how much individual games are.

I'm with Jup on this. Going to wait for single game tickets. I'm just assuming that any of the USA or Canada games will be nigh-impossible to get, but could see some of the "lesser" games being available at semi-reasonable prices.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
I purchased 2026 tickets through the pre-sales. Club level first row. Just over 2700 per. End were just under 2100. Club and lower bowl were the same price.
World juniors have been on out bucket list for along time but the price was still hard to swallow. We don't go do a lot of events like this so we went all in.
Tickets are supposed to be released in the fall. I will be nervous that I have been scammed until I get them.
Is the demand really that high when this tourney is in the US?That's the same range I see from the official pre-sale offer for packages.I received a text msg. about World Jr. tickets for 2026. Packages run $2,700 for lower bowl and $3,500 for on the glass. Again this a was forward text msg.

I’ll admit I don’t know what attendance was like when other US cities hosted this tourney. I’m sure there’s a good amount of Canadian fans that travel but idk how many seats of the X that fills. The average person in this country doesn’t know this tourney exists.
Looking back at 2018 in Buffalo, I suspect that there may be tickets available, but we'll have to see when it gets closer. I'm certainly not going to get a full package for all the games when I know I won't be able to make it to most of them, but will certainly look at individual days.

Yeah that’s kinda what I’m banking on, probably will want to be near your computer when the single game tickets go on sale. Hopefully they have some kind of ticket packs/discounts that include a big game and some lesser games I think that’d be ideal.
Sweden/Finland would be a joy to see live.

And, for the preliminary rounds, I don't think it's even possible to make it to all of the games. They overlap (or close enough in time) between the two sites, so you can't get to them all.

Similar to the Boys State AA Hockey packages… to make the consultation bracket at Mariucci and back to St. Paul is a task. I like so many others just swallow our consultation tickets and stay in StP for Class A semi’s and even the Hockey Expo.

I haven't been to a consolation game since they went to two tiers. I used to love the afternoon sessions on Friday and especially Saturday (win and get a trophy) but now it's a PIA to go between arenas. It's too bad Tria rink doesn't have more seating, that would be fun and a lot more convenient.

They use Tria for the girls, but like you said it’s to small for the boys.

Friendly reminder that USA plays Germany @1:30 on NHL Network.

@youngeagle If Sweden wins 72-0.
Great colors, jerseys, styles of play. Hard pass on cheering for one vs the other for me, just looking for good competitive hockey.

This should be a good goal. The overhead view makes it pretty clear.
EDIT: Ref's review called a goal. Germany challenges for possible goalie interference (the US player does make contact in the crease) so back into the booth.

Hutson kind of spins the goalie there. Will be close
USA goal song is Free Bird. Great song, but not sure it’s a good goal song.
Wow, they say no goalie interference. Not sure I agree with that, but 1-0 USA! Hagens gets it
Call stands after coach's challenge. The refs must have decided he had enough time to recover and be back into the play, he was clearly spun around by Hutson's contact.
On to the PP

Ziemer on PP2. Those BC boys move the puck so good. It is crazy
Team USA Eagles are winning 2-0. Perreault goal
Why isn’t Snuggy playing today?

Definitely curious what the call here was. His skate was clearly on the ice when the puck crossed the line. Unless international rules allow that if your other skate is inside the door?
EDIT: Coming out of commercial break, they had a rules clarification delivered, and yes, with one skate clearly off the ice (and no question he had one skate solidly in the bench area) that's good enough, even if you still have a skate on the ice.

So one foot on the bench is on the bench. I guess in concept it's similar to straddling the blue line.

I thought it could either be that one skate on the bench means you’re safe or that the attacking player didn’t touch the puck until the skate of the potential offside player was off the ice. Meaning the puck entered the zone, but he didn’t touch it right away.
USA showing some blood in the water mentality. Like it.

So, USA killed off the subsequent Powerplay (from the failed challenge). Three minutes after the PP got the goal back to go up 4-2, then in the last minute and a half, tack on two more. 6-2 going into the second intermission.
Other than some "first game jitters" kind of plays, they're looking pretty good so far.
