With the multiple missed high sticking/slashing calls earlier the USA deserved more than two power plays for the game.
The US was 2 for 2 on the Power Play. Finland was lucky the refs didn't call more penalties or the game could have gotten away from the Fins earlier.
When the Finn bench was fuming over the late penalty, I was thinking they're lucky they didn't get called for 4 or 5 obvious high sticks, not to mention the obstruction all game long.
To top it off with a couple of minutes left, they made a weak make-call against the US. Neither of the calls were even penalties.
The first call was stupid; the second was spineless.
The US was clearly the better team, but they did get to running around a bit when the Finns set up in the offensive zone.
Not only was that Snuggy one-timer perfectly placed, but you don't see a lot of successful ones orchestrated off such a lengthy cross-ice pass. It takes tremendous hand-eye to make that happen.
