Stramel only has 1 point in 10 games played this season. I haven't seen him play much, but judging only on points its not going great for him.

They have a lot of really good forwards on this team and he would have had a hard time cracking that top 6. Outside of that he's useless as his whole game is just scoring goals and he's a bit of a mess otherwise. Hagens on the other hand can play center and is useful in different ways.
Stramel is playing 4th line right wing for Wisco currently, so understandably they weren't interested.
I'd be curious if Stramel has some injury issues, because he has been a total non-factor in Wisconsin.

This event is one of my favorites albeit a 1a 1b 1c and 1d with the Olympics, MN HS hockey tournament and the NCAA tournament.
Couple the tournament with the fact that it’s right around Christmas and NYE and it’s become one of my favorites as well. Gopher hockey will always be top and I love the other three tournaments you mentioned. Like you said 1a - 1d. But there is something special about the World Juniors. Watching games back at parents house with my little brother the week after Christmas or at a friend’s place for the NYE games. Then that first week of January (the most depressing week of the year imo) when everyone’s going back to work and the holiday decorations are getting packed up we still have the elimination rounds to look forward to. What turned out to be one of my favorite NYE was actually NYE 2020 back at my parent’s place during quarantine, with the family, watched a movie, and then ended the evening watching USA beat Sweden.

Snuggerud and Chesley are obviously locks as returners. I think Sam Rinzel makes it pretty easily too given how well he’s played in the first half this season and that USA is really lacking size on the backend.
The only one that might be up in the air is Olly Moore but I feel like his motor is perfect for a bottom 6 role. Hopefully the coaches see what I see, this team is stacked at forward though.
Rinzel and Moore survive the final cut, meaning all 4 Gophers make the team.

Agreed. Just keep rolling those out. If you want to make some minor tweaks to the striping or whatever from year to year... whatever, but the new design every year is silly.

It is amazing that the NHL Network isn't available on more outlets. It is any easy way to promote the league. I'm fortunate that I still have it on DirecTv, although I pay through the nose for DirecTv and may drop it when all of these league rights get straightened out. I am slowly adding a few streaming services with BTN+ and ESPN+.

After a bit of a sloppy start to the game where Trey Augustine had to be Trey Augustine the US took over and stared playing much better. Since Snuggy scored halfway through the second period we’ve been in control.
Germany pulls off the upset beating Finland 4-3.
It is the first time ever that Germany beat Finland in the World Junior tournament. Finland was 25-0 against Germany.
Finland out shot Germany 43-28 for the game 37-15 over the last two periods (17-5 in the 3rd period) but Germany scored three times in the second period to take a 4-3 into the 3rd period after Finland scored early in the 2nd period to take a 2-1 lead.
USA is in a pool without Canada, Russia, Sweden, or Finland?
