Ooc are the women’s professional players required to wear full face shields or is it optional like for the men?
It is required. My guess is that it’s benefits driven
what does that mean?
Facial and dental work is expensive. No doubt the NHL can cover it, not sure the PWHL can. But again, just a guess based on some previous leagues’ reasoning. Could be for different reasons.

Yes, dental insurance is the reason.
Interesting that they are having all of the fans sit on 1 side of the arena and ends to make it look fuller on TV.

This Montreal goaltender is a wall tonight.
I love Clay doing the PxP, but Alexis, who does the color, needs to talk less. I think she tries to cram too much info when she chimes in. Less is more sometimes.

Pannek, Zumwinkle, Heise, and Emily Brown on an all-PWHL USA Rivalry Series roster. No Stecklein as she's taking the year off from the national team, and no Brandt as it looks like her Team USA career is over.
I was in the crowd and I've adopted New York as my favorite team. It was weird for me for Boreen to score a goal and not to feel happy about it.
Whoa.. We have a trade..

too bad it couldn’t have been on the weekend prior when the Gophers are off, weeknights a bit challenging with the job, would have loved to go!

I am surprised by the rink the Ohio State womens team plays on every time. Just crazy.
I prefer "disgraceful". It's completely absurd that the team had to play thereI am surprised by the rink the Ohio State womens team plays on every time. Just crazy.
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
The PWHL Minnesota team sure misses Heise. Hope she is back soon. Jaques has not made the impact that I thought she would so far.

Dumb question - why did they not call the league the WNHL? (Like they do the WNBA)?
I believe it is because the PWHL isn't affiliated with the NHL while the WNBA was owned by the NBA from 1996-2002 and half of the teams are still owned by NBA owners.
Heise put on IR.

That should probably put an end to teams sending players to the USA/Canada games that they seem to play every couple of hours.Heise put on IR.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a total conflict of interest for the PWHL.
Or maybe the exposure US/Canada games give women's hockey make the risk worth it.
Yes her injury sucks but a player can get hurt in any game. If she wasn't playing in the US/Canada game(s) she could have gotten hurt in a pro game she was playing in instead.
I’m not a big fan of the PWHL. Though for the start up league, I’m a fan of their jerseys. Every team has the same style of home or road. And they are very simple and basic. No flare… thank goodness.
Plus, it was nice seeing Gigi on the ice. She’s a class act on and off the ice.
Keep your stick on the ice...

Well get ready to be disappointed next year. The league had a choice, start this year with no team names, team specific jerseys OR wait until next year to get all the individual team promotion in gear. They voted to play, but all the rest will be in place next season.
Note: Due to inflation dirty deeds will no longer be done dirt cheap.

I like the draft order process. Not sure it would work with a league much larger than 8 teams or so.
Really like that the #1 seed gets to pick their opponent. Especially if they pick someone other than #4. Total bulletin board material.
I am looking forward to teams having names. I don't like just using city name because I don't like saying PWHL. I just want to give the Minnesota team name and then probably the city of their opponent. "Hey, the PWHL Minnesota hockey team plays today, we should watch," just doesn't roll off the tongue.

Do you think if MI and MSU pick up womens hockey, they create B1G Womens. MN, UW, OSU, MI, MSU, PSU 6 is enough, right?
