The way she went into the boards that's not too surprising. Still a bit surprised there was no call on that hit, and then of course Hemp picks up the retaliation roughing just seconds later and the Badgers score on the power play.
And no tv or stream of the Clarkson game?
UMD women win in double OT after their goal is reviewed for goalie interference and allowed.
LITERALLY the same situation with a player pushed into the goalie by a defender that hit two Gopher men's goals disallowed a few weeks ago.
Nobody knows WTF actually is goalie interference.
Is the women’s game on TV? Says ESPN + (free) on Twitter but think you have to pay for Plus

This is correct.

The game audio broadcast is on the gopher sports.com site.
Not quite halfway thru the first, Gophers up 2-0, 7-0 SOG
B1G refs... corrupt, or just incompetent?
My picture is VERY fuzzy.
I have watched a lot of games on ESPN+ this year and this is by far the worst reception. I am barely approximately watching the game.
My picture is fine, but the camera work is going to make me sick. The Blair Witch project didn’t move the camera this much.
Gophs just had a goal overturned for goalie interference. Looks like it isn't just the men's team that gets sketchy reviews.

To be fair, the gopher player hits the goalie in the mask when she swung at the puck in the air. This visibly affected the goalie reaction to the puck. That's definitely the right call.
The guy on audio was not happy with that call. Any idea what it was? Sounded like no contact with the goalie at all??Gophs just had a goal overturned for goalie interference. Looks like it isn't just the men's team that gets sketchy reviews.

Like Orion said, the gopher player swung at a puck that went straight up, it made contact with the goalie, fell down and she put the puck in. I am not that upset about it, could have gone either way in my opinion.
So, a Gopher stick partially dislodged the goalie's mask? If so, then yeah, that sounds like the right call.

It didn't dislodge the mask I don't think. There was just some contact. I could be wrong about that though.
Even just contact that moves the helmet/mask around with no danger of knocking it off works be justification for waving off the goal.It didn't dislodge the mask I don't think. There was just some contact. I could be wrong about that though.

Clarkson fans just cheered Murphy getting hurt
Clarkson ties it at 2 with the empty net...
Man this team is frustrating near the end of games....

They’re getting outplayed now. Need a Murphy rush for the win.
They have nothing left in the tank here just getting completely outrun the last three periods or so.
This might need a miracle.
Period 5 was the first period Clarkson out shot the Gophers.
Period #7 will be played.

Well, this is about what they deserved this season. I think there needs to be a serious discussion about moving on from Frost but I can't see that happening this year. Everyone who plays sans the transfers and Wethington the Elder will be back and presumably the best blueliner to pass through the program in almost a decade will be coming in. Wisconsin will still be great but in what is probably going to be Murphy's last year, the goal should be national championship or bust. But there will be some things to work on in order for the team to get there.
Always sucks to have the season end, but they weren’t going to accomplish the goal this year anyway. OSU and Wisco are so much better than the rest this year.
Trying to remember the last time a Gophers hockey team had a 2-0 lead in an NCAA game, surrendered an empty-net goal, and lost in OT.
It might seem harsh, but here it goes....#goldenchokers
Fun Fact: Gophers have the top ranked Power Play in the country 😀

just pulling a men’s team trick.
Ugh, that was tough. Hate to see the Gophers lose to the Canadian's.
I have mixed feelings about the coaching staff, the women's team has been trending downward ever so slowly. This had better be the bottom.
Now in the portal Sadie Lindsay, Tristana Tatur, Josie Hemp, Isa Goettl.
That now makes it 5 gophers with Josey Dunne entered 3 weeks ago as a grad transfer.

No huge losses. Lindsay is the only one who played and she had just 5 points in 35 games. Hopefully Frost making room for some better players.
@gopherguy05 Have to wonder if Hemp's sister stays committed.
I don't know why she wouldn't. Their older sister Peyton was a captain this year and will be next year.
The only reason will be if her or Clark don't like the competition for the #1 goalie spot. Not very often you bring in BOTH the US and Canadian U-18 starting goalies in the same recruiting class.
I think it would be more likely that whoever loses the goalie competition is likely to look elsewhere after a year or two, but they both still come in.
Were Hemp and Goettl hurt this year? Seems strange that they didn't really play at all.
I thought Josie Hemp was being redshirted. Goettl was always a long shot for ice time. One of my favorite high school players but 5’0” is always an issue. The younger Hemp and Clark are not in the same class. Layla will be a high school senior next season.

Very early, maybe first game, I saw Goettl skate a couple shifts. She immediately got my attention and I wanted to see more. I didn't realize she was only 5'0". Coach Frost does not like short players. Schipper at 5'4" is about as low as it got. Mark Johnson will play short players but I don't know if he goes to 5 flat!
I think if you have someone like Cayla Barnes, coaches are willing to make 5'1" work. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of players like Barnes.
Interested in the events over the next few months. The Manness twins decommiting and cutting loose the other players is a bad look from the outside. But the present staff with Greg May as associate head coach seems more willing to make some “uncomfortable” choices.
First off...I think this forum name "Gopher Women 2022-23" is long overdue for a name change. We just finished the 23-24 season already as of yesterday.
I attended the frozen four in Durham, NH and yesterday's game between Ohio State and Wisconsin was a good one with neither side willing to give the other an inch of space on the ice. Personally, I love a 1-0 game. It represented those two teams very well. As a gopher fan, I'm very jealous of those two teams. They looked and played impressive. The end result could have gone either way. It just happened to work out for the Buckeyes though (aka: Team Portal).
