Reid is interesting because he profiles as a bottom-six player, yet would likely be ready for said role by 2025. Could be rare three year USHL player though.
Not with you on Moore and Nevers, but time will tell.
Harper Searles is another interesting uncommitted senior. Guessing he and Wallin have landing spots somewhat soon.
Hopefully the staff is taking a hard look at goaltender Kam Hendrickson. He is quite the talent.

You could convince me on Moore just because he might be a 2nd round NHL pick but Nevers I think for sure needs and I think will be asked to play 2 years of juniors. By the way that’s not an insult to him. Pitlick and Huglen both played the maximum amount of juniors allowed and they’re great.

The time to have a MN born goalie might be coming soon with Hendrickson and Wendt coming up from Shattuck. Haven’t had a starter since Wilcox (not counting traitor Moe)

I think any goalie wanting to play for Minnesota is going to need to have a good 2000 minute year of junior hockey under their belt and be prepared to play a second season at that level. Excited to see how Hendrickson does in New Mexico.

Hendrickson projects to be a 2 years of juniors guy which definitely puts him on Bob’s radar
Cole Bumgarner will not be on his 4th MN High School team in four years but he will be on his 4th team. Tendered with Fargo Force.

like clockwork
He’s a talent but Bob may steer clear of this one after dealing with the Lucius family. He’s not the can’t miss talent that would be worth the potential headache of the father.

I agree. There is another potential recruit that I hear that his family is a handful as well. We will see how that plays out.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
I bet he goes North Dakota which I’d be just fine with. A lot of his Shakopee buddies will end up there too. Simpson already committed there and I think Steinhoff will too. Siegert as well if they offer. Maybe even Pederson.
He’s in a constant rush. Even if he pans out as a recruit, he’d only be in college 1 season.
Yea, the constant movement would give me a lot of pause. Hopefully it works out for him...
Reminds me of Jim O'Brien from years ago.

He is consistently photographed with a gopher beanie so who knows. Feels like Cole may not always have the final say in where he plays.
if there’s one player we need from that age group, it’s Mikey Berchild. I’ve overheard the staff talk about him and they are very fond of him (not surprisingly).
Yes if there’s one player we need from the August 1 group it’s Mikey Berchild. I think we get him Parker Trottier, Mason Moe and Logan Lutner. Predicting a big haul on August 1st.
Some names to keep our eyes on in the future. Also, where does Chase Nevers fall on the Nevers family tree?

Lots of Minnesotans per usual. Interesting to see 3 MN goalies on the invite list🤔

Can I assume all of these players are relatively the same age? If so how did Cullen not play varsity this past year? It's not as though Moorhead was that loaded.
Was a 9th grader and played Bantams. Not sure if that answers your question.
Even in a down year, I cannot imagine it is easy to make the varsity squad as a freshman at Moorhead. Sammy Nelson is supposed to be a big-time player and he was playing bantams as well.

All were born in 2008.

Both have late ‘08 birthdays so were 9th graders and thus played bantams. Some high school teams don’t allow freshmen to play for varsity (Hermantown is famous for it). A lot of kids just play the second year of bantams as supposed to high school as a freshman. Brock Faber did it. Bantams to USNTDP.
Crazy to see Faber won this only six years ago and has had a three year collegiate career since and is now one of the best rookies in the NHL.
I think this class is the critical one for Gopher's future. The real question isn't necessarily the local competition, but will several of these top echelon Minnesota players go outside those normal recruiting paths such as BC or BU, or even Michigan.Lots of Minnesotans per usual. If we get the normal Minnesota recruits from this class that will mean we can stay competitive going forward.

Sam Laurila, who's on the U18 team right now, also did it from Moorhead bantams.
Let's just pretend I shared these in the right thread and spare me the shame...

Certainly would be a welcomed addition. I’ve been recklessly speculating on Kukkonen for what seems like ages now.
Can't say I'm surprised...on the heels of back to back NC in 18 & 19 (and being one of the favs in 20) these past two seasons have been nothing short of DREADFUL ☝️ O’Connell flipped commitment to MICH State, Howard transferred to MICH State , Kelley transferred to Providence….now it appears Biondi is on the move…not a good trend to say the least, plus arguably there best forward (Dominic James) missed essentially the entire season due to shoulder surgery. Mr Hockey Jason Shaugabay & Zam Plante coming in next season. However…when you're able to recruit more highly touted players U need to make subtle adjustments regarding how you manage/deals with/relate…to your players. tBob had to make this sort of adjustment coming to the U from Jan Brady State. To me, that's one of the root causes for the problems they’ve experienced during the past few years. It is the reckless speculation time of year...

Sounds like Wendt has to be the #1 target. With Berchild right behind Wendt.
I'd love to have Francisco come to the Gophers but family ties would put him at UMD. If they decide UMD is not the best option considering their recent decline, could that family even consider their biggest rival as an option? I would be pleasantly surprised if that happened. We do have a Strobel on the team and from what I hear, that was an easy decision for the family. Maybe Mark Strobel can talk to John Francisco and convince him the Gophers aren't so bad..... LOL!

Berchild is the top target for sure, goalies are too fickle. I especially wouldn't recruit/bank on one that is that young.
Very curious how this group shakes out. Berchild certainly looks like the top prospect, though there is a lot of developmental time ahead.
Going after Wendt would be a departure from tends for Motzko and staff, though maybe you veer from the norm if you feel is an Augustine type of prospect.
Expecting family ties to lead Francisco and Nelson elsewhere. Lutner feels like he is right in the wheelhouse.
Berchild is the top target by a country mile. After that Trottier, Lutner, Fransisco and the goalie Wendt are all great too. Mason Moe is an ‘07 that will be eligible to commit in August that we will be all over.

Interesting, always thought Biondi was a bit overrated when I watched him in HS and that's proven to be true so far, but he could be a decent Nelson replacement.

Would be nice to steal Cullen out of moorhead
3 of 8 are OMGHA kids. 👍👍👍
Lleyton Roed and Ben Steeves could be interesting guys to target also.
Welp, so much for this pipe dream. Both have gone pro now.
Let’s shake things up and nab the Hermantown kid. Francisco needs to be a gopher.
