If they offer Kraft and Vanek they will be Gophers but I’m not 100% convinced either one of them will get August 1st offers.
I would agree. Promising players but do not see a reason to rush the process with them.
As much as Bob is poised to have a big recruiting season with MN kids, he may do most of his damage out of state this year. Here’s a list of high end out of staters that the Gophers are rumored to be in on:
LJ Mooney F - NTDP U17
James Hagens F - NTDP U18
Cole McKinney F - NTDP U17
Masun Fleece F - SSM
Ryker Lee F - SSM
Colin Frank F - Anaheim Jr. Ducks
among others
I think it's safe to remove Hagens from that list.
Disagree
FWIW I have heard we are not in on Shultz and in on Spehar.
Hm. I don’t doubt what you heard but I feel like this time of year everyone hears different stories with some of these players
I would be surprised if either are considered top targets, more likely contingency plans.

Came here to post the same. Interesting timing.
Get him to Dinkytown
Motzko you sly dog
Would take some of the sting out of the Cooley departure.
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
Nope. Don’t like that…
So Mcmahon narrowed it down to the East or the West as far as where Bump ends up.
LJ Mooney is in town skating at Ridder today with Cooley and others according to his instagram story. Think it was for their agency Bartlett Hockey but not a bad time to be in town for a visit.

So that eliminates Alaska and Huntsville if they still existed…
That bartlett hockey camp they hold at ridder every year is such a nice recruiting tool. I remember Eiserman committed shortly after the camp last year.
Looks Good in Gold helmet. Wearing for reason?
Played for Pittsburgh Penguins Elite so Pittsburgh colors black and yellow.
The acceleration he showcases in this clip is out of this world.
He'd be a huge get for us!

Dont they already have like 16 forwards lmao
15 forwards on the roster, per the official team page.
Hopefully Brad is right and isn't just giving UND cover here.

I know we give Schlossman a ton of crap on this board, me included, but he is the most in tune hockey writer out there. If he says nothing to it today, he means it. That doesn't mean Bump won't eventually end up there though. Still holding out hope.

He's way more reliable than YHH, that's for sure.
It may be a slow day per Schloss

Is Bump really this big of a deal???

Depends on how badly you need a decent forward on short notice. Is Bump really this big of a deal???
He’d be a nice add for the Gophers who were already a bit light at the position (numbers-wise) before Cooley left.
Seldom does a potential difference-maker pop up on the market this late. Add in the timing of the Cooley departure and it is easy to see where the excitement comes from.
I would think he's on the same level as Pitlick, Lamb, and Kurth. I wouldn't lose sleep waiting to see where he ends up, but I think he would be a solid additionIs Bump really this big of a deal???
I feel like it's Christmas morning and I've gone down stairs to find that Santa just flew over the house without stopping by to drop off any presents.
Yeah a little underwhelming but that was to be expected this year. Seems like it’s gonna be a gradual thing over the next few weeks.
I'm completely surprised, until the Schlossman quote, I didn't think anyone previously said not to expect much on 8/1.
I read on various sites that kids were likely to take a lot of visits this year and that there wouldn’t be too many August 1st commitments. Can never fault the kids for that.
That won't bode well for St Cloud. That campus is a dump.I read on various sites that kids were likely to take a lot of visits this year and that there wouldn’t be too many August 1st commitments. Can never fault the kids for that.
I am curious when recruits think of Grand Forks. Obviously their arena is upper echelon, but the rest of the campus and city? Do they strap blinders on the recruits before they leave the airport?

I think that's probably part of the appeal, that the hockey team is one of the only things they have and they're the biggest show in town.

On the topic of St. Cloud, it will be interesting to see how many “big names they get” considering the state of the university. If recruits read the news (not a safe assumption) they’d know the long term outlook of SCSU isn’t the best. If I were a recruit, considering there might not be a team in 5 years, I’d look elsewhere.
The Huskies are in on Spud NTDP defensemen Sam Laurila and Garrett Lindberg, as well as high end Forest Lake forward Malachi McKinnon that the Gophers are also pursuing.
I'm sure Eiserman, Snuggy and the rest of the Gophers are in Hagens ear.
"A bunch of the guys have been giving [pitches] out," Hagens says with a grin that suggests he understands the hubbub around his recruitment. "It's cool to see the different guys at different schools. They're all such good guys, so it makes you want to go to all the schools, but at the end of the day, you just got to find a spot that's right for you."
I'm 50% factual and 50% sarcastic. When you get to know me, you will know which is which.
The temptation to play with Eiserman in his draft year is probably a big one for Hagens. I hope so at least. He’s a 2025 draft eligible so he’ll be drafted after his freshman season. If he wants to go 1st overall, racking up 3 assists a night playing with Eiserman wouldn’t be a bad way to get there…
Gopher hockey instagram just started following LJ Mooney….
Sam Spehar with a 3 point game to open up the U17 five nations tournament for USA. I know he’s rumored to be a Nodak lean but I wonder how much Gopher interest there is from both parties. Gotta imagine there’s some.
I'd rather send my kid to Anchorage than Grand Forks.
Me, every time I look at Mooney's social media account and see he has a new post only to see its for a teammate committing somewhere...

Not sure how seriously to take this. "Could be in the mix" is pretty vague.
Well it is not nothing. Social media can be informative these days. FWIW Minnesota is the only program he follows...
It has to be simply based on him now following gopher hockey instagram. He wasn’t in the past and they are the only college hockey account he is following. Could mean absolutely nothing but its definitely not a bad thing to see him start following their account.
